Soon Muslims will celebrate Eid al-Fitr 1443 H. There are a number of calamities that are recommended to be practiced at this moment, one of which is to multiply reading takbir. The basis of this exhortation is the following word of God,

That is to say, “And let you suffice the number and glorify Allah for His guidance given to you, that you may be thankful.” (QS. Al-Babqarah [2]: 185)

As quoted from NU Online in the article titled 8 Annihilation during Eid and its Explanation and Complete Memorization of Takbir on Night and Id Feast Day, the exhortation to read the takbir Eid al-Fitr starts from the night of 1 Syawwal until the imam of the Id prayer has been takbiratul ihram for the congregation, or until someone takbir prayer Id for the non-religious. Another opinion says the final limit of takbir reading until the time of the prayer Id.

Eid takbir reading itself is divided into two, namely takbir muqayyad and takbir mursal. Takbir muqayyad is a takbir that is recommended to be read every after prayer, either fardhu or sunnah. While takbir mursal is a takbir that is read anytime and anywhere.

Here is a complete memorization of the Eid al-Fitr takbir. Takbir is recited three times as explained by Imam An-Nawawi in the Book of Al-Majmu’, Syarhul Muhadzdzab:

Allahu akbar, Allahu akbar, Allahu akbar.

That is, “Allah is great, Allah is great, Allah is great.”

In addition to these three takbir, we add it with dhikr as dhikr-takbir Rasulullah SAW in Shafa hill narrated by Muslim Imam:

That is, “Allah is great. Praise be to Allah. Holy to Allah morning and evening. There is no god but Allah. We do not worship except Him, purifying Him of a religion even though the unbelievers do not like it. There is no god but the one who keeps His promise, defends His servant, and destroys the enemy's army. There is no god but Allah. Allah is great.”

The takbir memorization that is often read by the community as follows is not a problem. The takbir memorization is good enough to read.

Allahu akbar, Allahu akbar, Allahu akbar. La ilha illallahu wallahu akbar. Akbar wa lillahil hamdu.

That is, “Allah is great, Allah is great, Allah is great. There is no god but Allah. God is great. Praise be to Him.”
