Angelica looked at her husband with round eyes. His wide-open mouth was covered with both hands. Tears bathed his eyes. Miles had no expression at all when he saw her.
“What? So my guess is right. You never want to give me a child.” he accused.
“Aren't you alone so sure that I'm barren? If you still want a child, you have to find another man.” Miles said calmly.
“So you can find another woman. Yes ‘kan?” Angelica crossed her arms back in front of her chest. His sad expression had already been replaced with an angry face. “I know why you stay two to three days longer every time you work out of town. You found your lady out there. I know, Alastair. Hows it? Did anyone manage to give you a child? Is anybody? Or they also end up being real proof that you're barren?”
Every time his wife mentions another woman, he always thinks of Juliett. Five years he had not met her, but everything about the woman could still be clearly remembered. Her pretty red face, her beautiful long hair, her sweet lips, her longing touch, her distinctive body scent, her soothing and heart-warming voice. Somehow how is it now.
To be honest, he has extended his visit to Singapore several times because of Juliett. He still hoped for a miracle and the woman appeared again in the restaurant or hotel. Had it happened, he would not have let go of the woman again, no matter what the reason was. Only one thing will stop him. If the woman is married. And every time I think about it, his chest hurts. She couldn't imagine her Juliett being another man's.
What happened in Singapore almost five years ago was the first and last thing she ever slept with another woman. No matter how angry he was, no matter how disappointed he was with his wife and marriage, he had no interest in sleeping with another woman anymore. Even if she takes a weekend vacation every time she goes on a business trip or there are women who are openly attracted to her, she spends time alone.
“I don't have a mistress, Angelica.” said Miles coldly. Tired of all the same accusations he had to hear. He knew it was time to get out of their room. “I don't want to go home fast because I don't want to do this anymore with you. Fight for no reason and hear your voice rising. As if that way you can convince me that you are the right one.”
“Damn you, Alastair! Fuck!” scream Angelica. Miles is not waiting anymore. He took a step back and walked out of their room. His wife kept shouting and followed him from behind. He doesn't care about it.
“Good morning, Mr. Miles.” said Markus who opened the car door for him.
“Good morning, Mark. Thank you.” Miles said as he sat in the backseat.
“Amentay, Sir.” Wanda ran from inside the house. Mark kept the door open. The woman held out a bag. “It's breakfast for Mr.”
“Thank you, Wanda. Sorry to bother you.” said Miles sympathetically.
“It's already my job, sir.” The woman's smile expands.
Miles smiled with the kindness of all his servants. Along the way, he enjoyed his delicious ham sandwich. He smiled looking at his driver. Mark drove carefully and patiently. He was amazed by his attitude. Having a family waiting at home does give that effect to a man.
As soon as he got out of the elevator on the floor where his room was, he saw the head of IT had been waiting for him outside his room. Miles laughed at him. The man pouted. He could not forget their first meeting every time he saw Reynand. The motorcyclist whose STNK he once held. Two days after the fateful incident, the man managed to find out who he really was.
Not only did he give Miles the seven million he asked for, he also apologized, and begged to be given a chance to work at his company. Seeing his ability in the field of IT, he accepted it. Now the man is a head of IT who has helped him a lot in providing information and reporting information that his boss needs to know.
“Very bad, Mr.” he said in a very serious tone. Miles nodded.
“Good. We're talking in my room.” Miles looked towards his assistant. “Then, please have two cups of coffee delivered to my room. You can only enter the room after Reynand exits.”
“Good, Sir.” said Kemala comply.
When Miles walked into his room, the man had placed a laptop on his desk facing his chair. Miles sat in his chair and looked at the laptop screen. Without waiting for an explanation from Reynand, he understood what he was reading. Hearing the knocking of the door, he let her in. A man entered while carrying a tray containing two cups of coffee. After he put it on the table, the man paid his respects.
“Begging Kemala to call the HR head to see me.” Miles said before the man walked out of his room. He nodded then walked out of the room. Miles looked back at Reynand. “Can do something with this financial transaction?”
“Will I cancel. The rest of the other money that has been entered into his account?”
“Print proof of transaction. That could be proof to sue him later.”
“Are you going to ask for damages greater than the money he has stolen?” ask Reynand.
“Do you still need to ask that?”
“No, Sir. Soon I finish.” Reynand took his laptop back. “Nothing anyone can know. Right?”
“Nothing anyone can know. I wonder who else would dare to steal from me.” This was already the third time it had happened and the amount stolen was getting bigger. The culprit is always the one who is at the top. Not a new employee or a new employee. He regretted it because it was not easy to find a replacement.
“Good. Excuse me now, Mr.” Reynand said politely.
“No need. Enough work here. I want to see the results straight away.” Miles said. “After all that coffee you have to spend before you get out of my room.”
“Good, Sir. I'll sit here.” Reynand sat on one of the couches in the room. Miles could not answer because he was laughing. “Pak, please, the incident was already five years ago.”
“I know, I know. It's been. Just do your job.” Miles laughed out loud. Reynand was back.
Seeing Reynand's face that morning made him forget the quarrel with his wife. As soon as Nathan, the HR chief, enters his office, Miles gives orders to him to have the chief financial officer resign and pay back the money he has taken from the company. He invited the man to ask for proof of his crime from Reynand. Nathan complied and promised to tell his progress to his superiors.
