Humaira

Humaira
Chapter 9 is sick

Every day more and more patients are being treated. The government has begun to be overwhelmed to accommodate and treat Covid 19 patients. One hundred and ninety hospitals are not enough. Finally, the government opened an emergency hospital in the Kemayoran area. Humaira was chosen as one of the nurses at the hospital. So did Doctor Fahri.

"Ummi, there's something I want to talk about" that night in the living room as well as the family room. Humaira ventured to speak with her umminya.

Ummi looked at Humaira. Not usually stiff. Ummi.

"What's the matter, it looks so important?"

Ummi looked for answers from Humaira's gaze. Humaira groggy. He hesitated to start.

"Ummi I got a new assignment" Humaira forced herself to start.

Humaira hoped to umminya ask. But his hope was lost. Ummi just looked at him. He was waiting for Humaira's next explanation.

"Try to repeat, Humaira" pinta umminya.

"I got a new assignment at the emergency hospital in Kemayoran, ummi" Humaira again explained with a heavy heart the news of her new assignment.

This is what he was worried about. Which mother is not heavy hearted to take off her child. Moreover, the crisis that was being faced was betting lives. Seeing and hearing the news on television alone was already terrifying. For ummi who is middle-aged is not an easy thing. Frankly, he was not able to.

Humaira awaits ummi's reaction. For a moment, Ummi was silent. Humaira did not dare to ask for his official blessing. It is not the heart.

Ummi hugged Humaira. Humaira's tears are spilling. Can't stand him seeing his umminya treatment. Very confusing for him. It was a tough decision for Humaira. But this was a big step in his life.

Ummi took off his embrace. He got up from his seat. Ummi leaves Humaira. He stepped his foot into the bathroom. He wudhu for a moment. Then to the room. Door closes. Ummi performing sunnah prayers. While Humaira was enjoying her own anxiety. Baffled.

But on the other hand he must empathize with his umminya. He is the only one Ummi has. How does it feel to see the only girl struggling. The risks he faces are no joke. Life bet.

It's been an hour ummi hasn't come out yet either. Humairah tried to calm down. He wudhu. Take the Qur'an and read it slowly. He was afraid of praying his ummi prayers. The longer you read it, the more calm you feel. Two hours passed, Ummi had not revealed the trunk of his nose. Humaira knocked on the door. The door is not locked.

He saw ummi still wearing mukena. The woman he loved very much. His eyes. Wet paddles of his tears.

"I'm sorry, ummi. I made it hard. Not that I meant making ummi sad and hard" Humaira hugged him and cried on his lap.

"No dear. You're not wrong. Even if the ummi weeps because only to Allah Subhanahu Wata'ala we surrender. Choosing the best path according to His will is not what we want, son" ummi encouraged Humaira who felt guilty for her decision.

"My fault accepted this task without asking for ummi's blessing" he saw the face of ummi. He saw light in both his eyes.

"No dear you are not wrong. Your decision to accept that noble task is correct. But ummi as a mother must be hard to let you off" ummi honestly admitted. Yes, the heart of the mother who can let go of her child is struggling on the front. Bad shadows haunt his mind.

"Ummi approved of your decision, dear. But ummi doesn't want to lose you. You're the hope of ummi" instead of ummi looking at her daughter's face lovingly.

"Be assured of your decision, Mai. Don't be half-struggling. Let God be your protector. Do not leave prayer, keep your wudhumu, yes" the words began to flow profusely from the lips of ummi.

"Yes, ummi. I will not forget the ummi message. Pray for me to do this noble task. Ummi prayer is powerful for me" tightly embraced by the middle-aged woman. They both cried back. Crying happily.

"Your father must be proud, Mai" let out Humaira's forehead.

That night was so quiet. Calm. Only occasionally did the sound of branches rubbing gently in the wind. It was as if they were seeded and felt the happiness of two women, mother and son.
