Ferdian took a deep breath, he could not believe what he had just heard. Louise, a beautiful woman in a yellow dress, said it was her last day to be remembered as a human being. He was frustrated, but a deal had been made and Ferdian could not deny it.
Louise reminded him that if Ferdian had done so little, the lives of his wife and children would be a bet. The blood covenant cannot be changed or canceled. Once bound, the perpetrator must run until the end of the contract.
"Take good use of your day, Mr. Ferdian, we'll pick you up to run errands in the middle of the night. Remember we'll find you even if you want to go."
Louise said again, Ferdian can't do much. He stared at the face of his wife and son who were joking from behind the glass door. She smiled as Mia laughed. Great son, inherited the good looks of Ferdian's face. The only son he loves. Being able to see Great's smile was Ferdian's greatest happiness.
"I'm gonna miss you guys so much."
Ferdian enters the room, with a brown envelope given by Louise on Mia's lap.
"What is this mas? Where's the lady?"
"Udah go." Ferdian grabbed Mia's hand, "We can go home now, but _,"
Ferdian hesitates to continue, and Mia is increasingly made to ask questions.
"But what?"
"We move house, go from there and start a new life."
Mia frowned, "But we don't have the money for a gold house, our money, savings, everything runs out to pay the debt."
Agung, his son gently rubbed Mia's back. "Pardon the Great, pah" he regretted.
If an accident does not occur, if Agung obeyed the advice of his mother, if .. ah, too many suppositions in the head of the 13-year-old teenager. Rice has become a porridge and destiny has been determined by the creator.
Ferdian gently rubbed the head of the Supreme. "It's not your fault, Gung. All this is destiny. You put your mama's clothes on, we go home now. Mr. Thomas' envoy is waiting downstairs."
"Who the hell is Thomas mas, what is it exactly? Please explain me?"
Ferdian smiled wryly - there was no way he could tell everything. The new work to be carried out is a secret that must be kept. No one knows who he is and what his job is now. That way the lives of the two people he loves are safe, Louise said.
"Don't you worry, Mr. Thomas is a very good man. Destiny brought me and Thomas together, and he helped us. That's all you need to know."
Mia wanted to ask again but Ferdian gestured to stop, freely debating Ferdian. Mia just wanted to go home and calm down at the moment. Mia was curious, she opened the envelope that Ferdian had placed, her eyes suddenly wide.
"Mas, this is _,"
Ferdian turned his head towards Mia, he just smiled and did not want to talk much.
"Keep well, it's a gift from Mr. Thomas."
"This much?" Mia couldn't believe what she saw.
"Yes, that's not much." Ferdian approaches Mia, helping her get out of bed. "Let's go home."
Mia occasionally looked at Ferdian but her husband silenced a thousand languages. There was nothing Mia could do to force Ferdian to speak. Her husband is not a typical man who changes decisions easily. But as Mia's wife could feel something was hidden by Ferdian.
A luxurious car approached them at the entrance. The driver came down and opened the door, "Please, sir,"
Mia and Ferdian stared at each other, "Let's go home."
Without asking much more Mia complied with her husband, they sat in the back seat while Agung sat in the front. Ferdian fell silent all the way, imagining what would be his first assignment tonight. While Mia was agitated, she noticed the clear path instead of heading to their home.
"Mas, where are we going?"
"New place." replied Ferdian briefly.
"Great school what reward?"
"You can still go to school from here, the distance is also not too far." said Ferdian not sure, to be honest he actually did not know where they would be taken.
The luxury car entered the courtyard of a simple and beautiful house. Ferdian and Mia were flabbergasted. They look at each other. The house was exactly what they dreamed it would be.
"Please sir, this is your new home. Mr. Thomas wishes you and your family could accept it. I'll come back later tonight. Have a good rest." The man in the white shirt resigned.
"Hmm wait, my bike is left in the hospital, can _,"
"Sure sir, we've taken care of it for you." The 35-year-old man finally left.
"We go inside."
"No, you need to explain something first! Who's Thomas? Then why does he give us this much gift?"
Ferdian pulled his wife's hand, he didn't want to argue in front of the house. Although Mia protested loudly Ferdian flinching.
"Mia, listen to me carefully. I got all this because I'm working for Mr. Thomas now."
"Mas quit work?"
"Hhm, don't completely stop. I'm just, um .. moving parts." he told a lie.
"Move this part a lot?" Mia doubted her husband's words.
"Yes that. Don't ask too many questions. What do you want to eat now?"
Ferdian tried to divert Mia's question. They gathered in the middle of the room to share stories about the poignant events that the little family had just experienced over the past few days. Ferdian's heart was severed when he found out that no relatives had come to help his wife.
He was angry, angry, disappointed and also sad. But nothing can be done, Ferdian is determined to give him a decent life after this. Time quickly passed, the togetherness of Ferdian and his family began to thin.
'It's hard to part, but I've agreed to it and for their sake, I'm ready to do anything.'
Ferdian looked at the two people he loved who had fallen asleep. He was preparing to wear a black tie, tidying up his machinist clothes. The clock struck twelve times. A strange mystical aura began to suppress the environment around Ferdian's house.
The young machinist lowered his head and closed his eyes, sitting in the dark in the living room. He was determined to make a blood covenant with Thomas. The strange atmosphere that felt pressing down was increasingly concentrated.
"Time to arrive,"
Ferdian stood up, staring at the room where his wife and son were resting. "I'm going, take good care of yourself."
The luxury car was already waiting for Ferdian in front of the house, he was wearing his black machinist hat, turned his head once again towards the house and heaved a heavy sigh.
"I'm going to miss you guys so much" he said one more time after he sat in the car.
"We go sir, Mr. Thomas is waiting."
The car drove fast to the station, too fast so Ferdian did not feel the speed of the vehicle at all. They arrived just as the sound of the steam engine rang. The thin fog enveloped the station, the dimmer of the platform lights further adding to the unusual aura that was suppressing anyone there. Time froze around them, Ferdian walked into another dimension of space and time.
"Welcome, Mr. Ferdian! This is your first night as the Courier of Death. Are you ready?"
"There's no other choice, is there?"
Thomas smiled meaningfully, "Fair exchange, I gave you everything and you did your job?"
"Am I not going to see them again? You didn't mention it in the deal."
"really? You should have read the whole deal before you sign your signature, sir. Since agreeing to the agreement you will not be able to enter the human world except just to finish your work. From today your name won't even be remembered. Don't worry, your wife and son will remember you. They'll remember you as the best dad."
"Wait, you mean _,"
"Yes sir, for them .. you're dead."
Ferdian was struck by lightning, his feet were limp and his eyes were hot. "I'm dead?" tanyanya could not believe it.
"In plain view yes, you are missing and considered a dead person. But you're alive and you're living in our nature."
Louise showed up handing something to Thomas. The man who looked the same age as Ferdian approached him.
"Welcome to the death wagon, Mr. Ferdian."
Thomas pinned a gold pin bearing a unique emblem on Ferdian's chest. A sense of warmth spread in Ferdian's body shortly after Thomas' hand touched it.
"This is your train, and they are the passengers."
The thirteen carriages instantly became bright and each carriage contained dozens of figures sitting silent in various ways. Ferdian was surprised, if yesterday he only saw an empty carriage now the entire carriage was filled with magical figures that made his heart beat fast.
Thomas opened his arms wide, he smiled and said as he greeted the figure of the old man with blood pouring down his head. The figure walked towards them with a blank look.
"Your first mission is to help this old man find his killer!"
