The little boy's babble from behind the tree made George take his eyes off. The little girl with chubby cheeks covered her ears as she approached towards him.
“Why is sister angry?” ask the girl without fear of the person she first met. He sat down next to George without asking for his approval.
“Little boy, gabby want to know big man's business,” elak George. Though want to say ‘it's none of your business!’ but he realized that what he was talking to was a child.
The boy pouted. “Nak a little boy, I'm already big, pinter already. Even though Mama left, I didn't cry. The sign I pinter never cry,” chirp. “I'm also strong every sports day,” he added.
George looked at the boy with curiosity. “Where is your Mama?”
“My mom just left,” she replied casually.
“Go where?” George was still curious. The little boy did not show his sadness even though his mother left him.
“Tuh there.” The boy pointed to a burial area beside the lake.
George followed the direction that Gabby pointed. “Cemetery?” He scrunched his forehead. “You mean, your mama is dead?”
Gabby nodded. “Yes, and I don't cry. Great am I? Mama said, we should not be sad because if we are sad it is a sign of weakness and my father does not like weak children. I will be punished if I become weak,” he concluded with a smile review to show a row of toothless front.
Seeing the missing teeth made George laugh. He was a little overwhelmed by the boy's hardness. Compared to him who could still see his parents, the boy was still more disadvantaged because he was left forever by his mother.
“Well, handsome brother if it is like that. Instead of being sad and angry, brother is more suitable to laugh,” chirp. “I know, surely big brother has a problem, right? Must be because of the parents?” guessing it made George squint his eyes.
George nodded in understanding. For a moment they both did not speak.
“You want me to tell you something, brother? So that brother does not feel alive brother is the most suffering on the face of this earth,” bargained.
“What?”
“But brother is silent, yes?”
George nodded.
“My mother died of illness, my father rarely paid attention to her, even the two never greeted me, I knew they were just pretending to love each other in front of me,” he told me how he knew the condition of both his parents.
“Where did you know?” George was curious, because the small boy already knew the problems of adults and could assess the surrounding conditions.
The boy smiled. “So, I'm in a row of geniuses. Brother knows? My IQ is above average. Either I should be proud, happy, or sad to have that advantage, sis. Because of that I can know something by myself.”
“You should be proud of your advantages,” George's advice. His hand reflexively stroked the boy's hair gently.
George looked at the boy's face. It is not seen the slightest look of sadness on the face, either because the boy is good at covering up the sadness or indeed does not feel sad knowing the problems of his parents' lives.
George felt slapped, because he was a teenager facing the problems of his parents alone immediately grieved. He felt his fate with the boy was the same. Both of the families are not harmonious, more precisely pretend harmony.
