Chapter 65

It was already dark by the time David arrived at River City.

He would have arrived much earlier had he not been detained on the road.

Exhausted, he returned to the South River International Residence and opened the door of his house.

Only for him to see Pearl with reddened eyes was about to leave.

"Huh? Miss Pearl? What's wrong? Are you going out?”

Then he saw people standing behind Pearl. "Who are they?" Pearl felt her chest tight when she saw David.

'Didn't he come home for the holidays? Why did he come back so soon? And now all the time.'

“I'm sorry, Mr. Lidell . These people are members of my family. They came to visit me from home, so I thought I'd bring them here to sit down. I'll show them soon. ” Pearl replied nervously.

He was afraid David would get angry. Anyone would be angry knowing that random people had come to their house worth four hundred million dollars when they came out.

"Where are you going these nights? There are many rooms here, why not just stay?” David asked.

Pearl had been overthinking the seriousness of the matter. The house is meant to be lived.

There were many rooms in this house, and it could definitely accommodate these six guests.

David doesn't mind taking them.

“No, no, it's okay, Mr. Lidell . I've arranged a hotel room for them, so I'll.”.

Billy interrupts Pearl, “You must be this damned girl's boyfriend, huh? You are already living together, so you should get married soon! We may be just an insignificant family, but there are still rituals worth doing! We're not asking for a lot, just ten million dollars, and a house and a car for your brother in River City. It doesn't have to be too expensive, and if you can afford such an expensive home, I'm sure this request doesn't mean anything to you, does it?”

David was stunned, though,

'Fucking girl?

'Was he talking about Pearl?

'What kind of father would call his own daughter like that?

And he mistakenly thought I was Pearl's boyfriend!

'But considering we live in the same house, I think it makes sense that people think we live together?

'Ah, no one solved this misunderstanding, right?

“But ten million dollars, and a house and car in River City? Why does she feel like selling her daughter?

David glanced at Pearl but did not say anything.

Pearl's chest went up and down and she looked at her father in fear. Tears fell nonstop on his face as he shouted, “Dad! Stop with that shit!”

“How's that shit? You've been living together, what's not clear here? Who else would marry you if he didn't make you his wife? How do you expect us to live with dignity at home?” Billy denied.

"Boss? What kind of boss lives with his employees? You just don't want to be in charge, do you? ” ask Billy.

David was silent!

Not only was the misunderstanding unresolved, but he also made himself a target.

Realizing that Billy would not listen to any explanation he gave, David remained silent.

"Dad! Please stop talking! Are you trying to screw me up? ” Pearl yells at Billy with tears In her eyes.

"Pearl! Daddy helped you here!” Sam interrupted.

He's very happy now.

Now that his father had asked his sister and brother-in-law to buy him a house and a car in River City, he might actually get those things.

Not to mention that ten million dollars will one day be his too.

Once he had a house, a car, and savings, he didn't have to work at all. Instead, he could only go around and enjoy the view of the city.

Minnie and her parents are excited too. If Billy's demands are met, they will happily let their daughter marry Sam. They would go home proud if their son-in-law had ten million dollars as well as a house and car in River City.

Pearl looked at the expressions of her parents and brother. There was not the slightest bit of guilt for causing her pain and disarray.

They are here just for the money. If David happens to be broke, Pearl knows her family will do everything to get them to break up.

This is why they are so prepared to "sell their daughter" and get a large sum of money from David when they realize that he is rich.

All they care about is money. As long as they had money, what happened to Pearl was none of their business.

At this moment, Pearl suddenly understood.

Ever since he was born, he was nothing more than a method for his family to get what they wanted.

Pearl had no one to blame but herself. He thought that family was most important, so he only left a small portion of his income to himself and sent the rest back home.

It was at this point that he realized he was just a piece of plankton in the ocean, with no purpose and no place of origin.

His heart became cold.

Without a word, Pearl turned around and walked to the elevator.

All he wanted was to leave this place.

David could feel something was wrong with the situation, so he immediately followed and got into the elevator just as the door was about to close.

After the two of them left, Sam and the others shared a puzzled look. They don't know what to do.

In the end, they decided to leave the house as well because it was not theirs. Pearl's threat was successful, as they did not want to be mistaken for a thief and thrown in jail.
