Ryan remembered about that day....
In a rented house, a gust of night wind passes through a window that comes with air pollution from a vehicle on the highway. But Ryan was still busy with schoolwork for him to gather tomorrow morning.
Istianti also do the work as a household as usual, the aroma of cooking smells up to the neighboring house, or even the sound of a washing machine swirling to clean clothes by self-taught.
But the sound of knocking on the door was heard repeatedly in a hurry, no strangeness crossed the minds of Ryan or Istianti, assuming only the garbage officer who wanted to ask for dues as usual.
But the voice of the man called him loud...."Isti's mother, Mom, open it quickly...."
Isti saw that it was Abram's co-worker who was in Brahman's place.
"Oh sir Sarwono, what's wrong ?."
"Abram ... He had an accident at work."
The answer from Sarwono made the smiling expression that was previously present on Istianti's face turn startled. If only a small wound it is impossible for Sarwono to come to give a report, so it can be ascertained that a big problem occurred.
"Where is Abram now."
"He's at the Sejahtera partner hospital."
Ryan and Istianti rushed away, they could not stand by to assume everything would be fine even more, Abram was not a careless person until he would have a work accident.
Not only was Abram wounded, but Brahman was in another room with all the medical aids.
But Abram was in a more critical condition, during three hours in the ICU room and many doctors tried to save his life. It's just that, after a long wait with the complicated feeling of the prayer Istianti said, fate does not work wonders.
The doctor's words echoed in the ears as he said.... "We've tried our best...."
Istianti's limp fell on the chair, he could feel his heart breaking, his eyes blank and his soul just loose.
Ryan clasped tightly onto the mother's hand, she trembled, but what a thirteen-year-old boy could do, was just trying to remain calm even though he knew at the moment, that his father no longer lived with them.
The doctor said if the fire left Abram in the rubble, Meksi was not all right, because Brahman covered most of the facts for the tragedy that happened to Abram.
But one time, where there was one of the jobs in Brahman's company that saw the incident firsthand, he told me about attacking a group of thugs with firearms.
From this Isti began to assume that Abram's death was unnatural, if only just a fire, they could still evacuate before the building collapsed, but in reality Abram did not survive and Brahman suffered severe injuries.
Istianti and Ryan's life changed drastically, after Abram left his mother had to work hard every day to meet the needs of life.
Even though Brahman compensated for the tragedy that took Abram's life, Istianti flatly refused to use it.
That vengeance on Brahman was carried by Isti to this day.
It's just that, life and death have become an almighty affair of destiny, Isti has no longer chance to settle all those grudges to the end.
Ryan doesn't hide the anxiety of heart when Isti is in the ICU room that sets a fine line between the life and death of a human being.
Nella sits next to Ryan, trying to make him feel better, but it's all for nothing, because she has to struggle to hold back on anxiety for a long time.
The night was Ryan's longest night of staying awake, hoping for good news to be heard by doctors who said his mother could still survive.
"I understand sir." Ryan answered softly.
But it was nothing more than a mere saying, in the heart of who could see, how Ryan kept praying that all would be well.
It's been over five hours until it shows at 3am.
Until now the ICU room lights dimmed and the footsteps of the doctor walked out with a complicated expression.
Ryan did not know what to ask, as if the doctor's expression had answered all those questions. But still, the restlessness of the heart was still present and did not want to leave.
Uncle Jaelani also represented Ryan to ask.
"Doctor how's Isti doing ?."
"I'm sorry, we've tried our best but fate says something else. Lady Isti can't be saved."
The feeling now reappears, the despair Ryan has experienced will lose an important figure in his life.
Trying to remain calm was impossible, yet his heart was unwilling to accept, trembling hands wiping away the slowly falling tears. Strong he clenched and hit the chair like an impingement on his willingness now.
Not only did Ryan, Jaelani's uncle and Nella feel the same way, they knew that right now, fate had already made a decision to Istianti.
Step into the ICU room. Istianti's figure is now lying withered on the bed without a sound of breathing for them to hear.
But fate cannot be changed, all things in the eye are reality, the all-white room with various medical devices and the aroma of drugs he smelled is still there.
The touch of Ryan's hand trembled and began to gently rub the pale white skin, lifting it up slowly for him to place on the cheek.
What Ryan hopes for now, this is all just a dream and he wants to wake up. Found her mother in the kitchen cooking for dinner.
The voice calls...."Ryan wants to see when you study, eat first."
And he answered..."Yes, in a minute."
Jaelani patted Ryan's shoulder to look back at reality, a voice heard softly to say.
"You must be strong, son, this has become your mother's destiny, if you regret God's decision, then you will sin."
"How can I be strong, I lose everything, first my father, then my mother, what destiny is just to see how I live with misery." Ryan answered in anger.
"I know, but you have to be able to accept it, even if you cry, it won't change this fate."
Ryan still did not want to hear Jaelani's words. Nella who knows how Istianti's affection for Ryan is certainly a great memory without her ever forgetting.
The nurses took the body out of the room to clean it.
Now there was nothing they could do, looking away Istianti from sight.
Ryan is a man, he never cries for all the misery that goes on, but when his family is gone, no matter how hard he tries to hold back the emotions, he tries to, the tears fell and fell without her being able to clean them again.
