The sharp gaze that Anna received just after she entered this room would not make her waver. Anna looked back at the owner of those sharp eyes.
“Good morning, Mr. William. Meet me Anna Florence. This may sound a little presumptuous, but I beg you to write off all my father's debts. Instead, I will work for you,” explained Anna at length with a little fear, but Anna managed to cover it up.
Silly, yet courageous. The middle-aged man pulled the corner of his lips upwards. The little girl was willing to meet him and offered herself in exchange for the father's debt. How intriguing.
“You sure, Miss? Maybe you have to work a lifetime to make up for the debt your father borrowed.”
Anna knows that. However, this was the only way he thought about it.
After all, looking at his family's current financial condition, it was highly unlikely for his family to repay three billion dollars worth of debt.
“Alright!” william was without hesitation.
That easy? That's not possible. There must be something that was wanted from this middle-aged man before him. Anna must remember that nothing in this world is free!
“It looks like your age isn't too far with my son. How old are you, Miss?” William saw Anna's appearance from top to bottom.
“My age is twenty-one years."
I don't know why Anna's premonition got worse. Why did the old man ask his age? He even brought his son.
“Anna, I'll clear all your father's debts.”
William played the ballpoint pen in his hand repeatedly.
Meanwhile, Anna quickly bowed and thanked him.
“In exchange, you must marry my son.”
“Ah .. yes,” said Anna spontaneously unaware of her words.
Waitaminute! What did he just say? Married married?! The couple had never dated and now Anna is getting married!
After being struck by lightning, Anna is shocked to the point of being at a loss for words after hearing an absurd word come out of William Dominic's mouth.
Why did Anna have to marry William Dominic's son?
“Ta—but it does not enter ak-”
“Then you can go home. Our discussion is over.” William cut off Anna's speech as if he did not accept rejection!
Anna walked outside the room with a lethargic body. He cursed his stupidity for meeting William Dominic and getting into new trouble.
Fuck that debt! How could Anna have to marry a person she hadn't even met before?!
What if the man she was going to marry was a jerk, ugly, fat man, and so on? Anna was even already scared when she thought about it.
Arriving home, Anna goes to Andrew and tells him she doesn't have to worry about the debt anymore. Anna has solved the problem by marrying the son of Dominic's family.
Andrew cried and persuaded Anna to withdraw her decision.
“Son, are you sure of your decision? You don't have to do that, son. Dad will be looking for a way to pay that debt,” said Andrew sadly.
Anna hugged Andrew tightly.
“Dad not to worry, Anna will be fine. Anna promise!”
***
On the morning of college, Anna could not focus at all on the course because she was still thinking about the man she should marry.
Anna regretted seeing William Dominic at the time, what if Anna didn't leave? It's not gonna be this complicated, is it? Though he only intended to help his father, even though everything became chaotic and not according to plan.
Anna sighed repeatedly, and kept daydreaming in the middle of the lesson.
“Na ... Anna ... Anna?!” Grace - Anna's best friend nudged her hand to throw her daydream.
"The professor asked you a question" whispered Grace slowly.
The teacher who was teaching was Edgar. Edgar realizes that Anna is not paying attention to his lesson and deliberately asks Anna.
“Sorry, Professor, can repeat the question?” anna hesitated while forcing a laugh.
“Before coming home, come to my room!"
Die me! Surely the Professor will be angry and swallow me alive for daring to ignore his lesson!
Edgar's words made Anna restless. Anna held Grace's hand for help, but Grace shrugged her shoulders as if she didn't care.
Looks like Anna was hit by a curse, since yesterday bad luck always befall him. Yesterday's wedding, then now he has to deal with Edgar who is notoriously cold and intimidating.
Alone in the classroom, Anna was still struggling with her thoughts while holding her face with both hands.
Did I just run away, huh? But tomorrow we will meet again. Argha! Irritating!
The thought crossed Anna's head. Moreover, the lecture hours had ended five minutes ago, where he had to face off with Edgar and prepare to receive the punishment.
Before going to Edgar's room, Anna took a deep breath while closing her eyes. His heavy steps eventually led him to a room with a white door that read "Professor Edgar Dominic".
Dominic's? The familiar-sounding name was familiar to Anna's ears, yet she did not remember when and where she had heard it.
“Excuse ... Professor Edgar.” Anna opened the door of the room carefully.
Edgar was playing his laptop seriously. However, once she found out that Anna was in the doorway, she immediately closed her laptop.
Edgar lets Anna in and sits down on the available sofa, then the man brews two instant coffees for her and Anna.
"Drink.”
Honestly, Anna doesn't really like coffee. However, because Anna felt bad if she refused Edgar's gift of a professor, so she accepted it with great force.
“Thank you,” reply Anna while receiving the coffee while smiling gently.
“Do you have any problems? I see you're not focused on the lesson."
Anna was silent for a long time. She hesitated, did she have to tell the matter to the man before her? It would be a shame if he told anyone about the problem.
“Not to be told if you don't want it. Anyway, I won't force it,” Edgar added.
“Actually ...”
Anna was eager to share her story, but she hesitated a little.
"Mmm .. my a-anu .. something happened to my father, then somehow explained I had to marry someone I didn't know. So, I feel a little depressed and also scared."
Anna let out a long sigh after she told him the problem. He lowered his head and continued staring at the instant coffee he held without drinking it.
Meanwhile, Edgar only smiled when he heard Anna's story, because he really understood the core of the problem. Of course because it concerns him as well.
“So you don't want to marry that guy?” edgar asked suddenly after sipping coffee in his hand.
“I mean, what if the man is a jerk or ugly?”
Anna subconsciously called out her thoughts while hitting the table, then she apologized.
Edgar was jolted when the table in front of him was struck just like that by Anna. It turns out his body is small, but his strength is quite large.
“I understand. But next time whatever your problem lest you daydream during the lesson! You can go.”
Justjust like? Anna thought she would be scolded all out for ignoring the lesson. It turned out that her professor just wanted to know the reason Anna wasn't focused. In vain, he was afraid to face his room.
"Anu .. Can I really go?"
Although Anna heard Edgar's words clearly, she wanted to reassure him.
"Hm, I'm done with you. Don't you want to go home soon?"
Of course Anna wanted to go home and laze around, but she couldn't believe it because Edgar took it off.
Leaving Edgar's room, Anna did not realize that the man was looking through the window glass by folding his hands in front of his chest.
Edgar even smiled when he saw Anna accidentally kicking a stone right at the security head and he pretended not to know, then just ran away.
“Something girl,” muttered Edgar while smilingly adorning her handsome face, "Father is right, it looks like I will like it.”
