- Carel
I stepped down the stairs to get water on the ground floor because the water in my room was gone.
"Where are you going, Carel?" The voice of Mr. Justin stopped my steps and made me look at him who was standing behind me.
"Take some water" I replied, pointing out my drinking bottle.
"Alright, go straight back to your room when you're done." He said after sighing tiredly.
"Yes," I muttered again, continuing my steps down the stairs after Mr. Justin passed me, down the stairs. It seemed like he had just finished checking out the rooms of all the students and was intending to return to his room.
The air tonight is cold and humid, isn't it? Is it going to rain? My inner being walked towards the large dispenser near the entrance of the dormitory, while Justin's pack went in the opposite direction.
I put my bottle under the tap of the dispenser and started pressing the red button on it while my one hand was put in my jacket pocket. Trying to warm my cold palms.
The time had already shown at 10:00pm when I glanced at the wall clock stored above the dormitory exit. Then my eyes caught the shadow of a long-haired woman in white clothes peering into the dormitory.
"Who?" My murmur stopped pressing the red button on the dispenser and began to step my foot closer to that window, wanting to confirm the figure I saw.
As my steps drew closer, my eyes were startled when I saw that the figure was Aster. He was standing in front of the window in a nightgown? He even brought two bottles in his hand. His nose also looked red, I quickly opened the dorm window in front of me.
"Aster?" My words made him meet me.
"Carels!" Reply with eyes full of relief.
"Why hang around in such thin clothes these nights? And how did you get past the gatekeeper of the dormitory?" I asked, feeling very worried about the cold air he felt. Though his body looked so weak, but why couldn't he take care of himself?
Then the thing that confused me the most was how did he get past the gatekeeper of the dormitory?
"That–" He was interrupted when he heard the voice of Mr. Justin calling my name, he had even walked over to me.
"Why haven't you come back yet?" He asked when he got next to me.
"Ah, good night uncle." Sapa Aster behind the window while giving her wide smile.
"Aster?" Mumbled Mr. Justin looking very surprised, "how can you be here? These nights?" He continued to question the same with me.
"Ah that .. hatchim!" His reply was paused by his sneezing sound, it seemed like he was really cold standing outside in such clothes.
"Come in!" Exclaimed Mr. Justin while opening the dormitory door that had been locked by him, then shortly afterwards Aster went inside with a fairly alarming appearance.
Yes, her long sleeved nightgown was thin white on her knees and her black hair was messy from being blown out in the wind. "That's .. I was asked to get hot water by the hostess for Kalea who was sick, but in the female dormitory there was no hot water because the dispenser was damaged. The water in the other dispensers is gone. And the cafeteria was closed, so .. I thought I could ask for it in the male dormitory. The hostel mother also ordered me to tell this to the gatekeeper of the dormitory in front, so I was welcome to enter after the guard sir contacted the hostel mother to confirm it." It was clearly at length with his voice sounding a little frightened. Maybe he was afraid of being scolded by Mr. Justin.
"Is that so? Then I'll have to call people to fix the broken dispenser in the girls' dorm, or I just bought it?" Mumbled Mr. Justin trying to consider his decision, "preferably tomorrow I check first ... but Aster, you shouldn't be out in clothes like this? You can get sick if you wear these thin clothes." The following made me nod steadily, agreeing with what Mr. Justin said.
"Sorry, I was so panicked when I saw Kalea's condition. So subconsciously I came out wearing clothes like this." He muttered along with the hands of Justin who had snatched two bottles of drink in the hands of Aster.
"By the way Carel, where are you going? Why don't I see you in the cafeteria?" Ask Aster when he meets me.
"There," I answered making her frown confused. Seemed to not believe my answer.
"Where?" Ask again makes me sigh tired while opening the jacket I wear and wearing it on Aster's body.
"In the room." I answered while looking at the purple bead at a glance, then I put my jacket zipper after putting it on Aster's body.
"In the room?" Her question made me look back at her purple bead that reflected the shadow of my face. And I trimmed his messy hair.
"Yes, I ate first and went back to my room to do my homework." My lie while pulling my hand from his head and rubbing my nape.
"really? But, why did Teo say you were coming when I asked you?" His murmur made me feel annoyed at Teo's figure. I warned him to keep his mouth shut.
"... that was, I had intended to go to the cafeteria again. But my homework was a lot, so I paused my intentions." Obviously I went back to lying, hoping he'd stop asking me where I was going this afternoon. Since I didn't want to tell her about her condition, I also didn't want to look weak in front of her until it made her look worried.
"I see, I guess you're dealing again with another woman who's expressed her feelings for you. It was not yes," he said while nodding his head to make me glued when he saw the relieved expression from his face.
Wh why? What's wrong with her? Why think there? My mind wondered with a heartbeat that began to thump when I saw the smile of Aster that began to radiate from her beautiful face.
"Here, I've filled them both." Say Mr. Justin beside Aster while giving back two bottles of water in his hand to Aster.
"Thank you uncle." His reply again showed his sweet smile, "then Aster said yes now, I can't make Kalea wait too long again. Good night uncle, Carel!" He immediately walked towards the dormitory door.
"Good night, too, Aster." Said Mr. Justin along with his step back stalled, making me frown confused. How not? He said he was in a hurry. But why stop his steps?
"... ah–jacketnya! I–" he said as he turned to me, I quickly cut off his words.
"Just wear! You can return it next time." My words made him nod and immediately passed from before me.
"Are you sure you're not gonna drive him to the front door of the girls' dorm?" Justin asked, making me look at him standing up, frowning in confusion.
"Can you?" I asked back.
"If I forbid it, will you go back to your room?"
"No, I'll drop Aster off. Don't lock the door yet!" I answered immediately ran outside the dormitory to go after Aster.
