Chapter 23. Keep the Promise

One week later,

King Alec has been declared fully recovered and is ready to take over his duties and responsibilities again as King of Cardania. Together with Marquess Filan and Marquess Andry, King Alec came out of the king's palace and was going to the meeting hall of the palace. King Alec was surprised by the presence of Countess Sarah who was already standing waiting for him in front of the king's palace. King Alec stepped his feet while snorting in annoyance. But he still tried to be polite.

"Sincerely servant, Your Majesty the King."

Countess Sarah saluted with a smile. A happy hue was etched on his face.

"What's the matter Countess Sarah? Why don't you head to the meeting room and gather with the other nobles?" Ask King Alec.

"Hamba just wanted to meet and greet His Majesty the King. Very happy servant His Majesty the King has recovered and returned to health as usual." Answer Countess Sarah.

"Thank you." Said King Alec briefly and put his foot back on.

"I'm sorry, Your Majesty the King." The voice of Countess Sarah stopped King Alec.

"What's wrong?" King Alec's.

"May I go to the meeting room with Your Majesty?" Countess Sarah said with a shy smile.

King Alec scratched his forehead. Queen Roseline who arrived there smiled cynically as she saw and heard the conversation between King Alec and Countess Sarah. King Alec looked at Queen Roseline, but Queen Roseline just looked down and saluted and stepped back.

"Wait for the Queen." The King of Alec.

Countess Sarah was shocked as King Alec exclaimed. Queen Roseline stopped her steps and turned her body around.

"What's up, Your Majesty?" Ask Queen Roseline.

"Let's go to the meeting room together." King Alec.

"Wouldn't His Majesty go with Countess Sarah?" Queen Roseline's.

"If you have to go there together, it has to be with you, Queen." Replied King Alec gently.

"Why should it be like that?" Ask Queen Roseline.

"Worthy of being with the King is the Queen. And the Queen is my wife, my companion."

King Alec grabbed the hand of Queen Roseline and kissed the back of her hand. Queen Roseline widened her eyes, as did Countess Sarah. Countess Sarah is very jealous to see the romantic gesture King Alec showed to Queen Roseline.

"Countess Sarah, if you want to leave with us you can walk behind us." King Alec said coldly.

"Let our Queen go."

King Alec continued to clasp Queen Roseline's hand and walked towards the meeting hall in tandem. Queen Roseline was silent and resigned because she did not want to argue with King Alec. The assistants of the King and Queen walked behind their lord. Countess Sarah and her servant were at the very back. Countess Sarah walked over with an annoyed face while squeezing her dress.

"It feels very peaceful to see His Majesty the King can go hand in hand with the Queen like this. Very harmonious." Marquess Andry chirped with a smile.

"Truly Sir. I hope soon the palace will be filled with baby cries." Marie.

"I hope so too." The Marquess Filan.

Felix just turned his lips. He knew that the three men deliberately wanted to make Countess Sarah's heart burn and be aware of her position.

The guards announce the arrival of King Alec and Queen Roseline. Everyone immediately paid their respects, including Baroness Yolanda who was also present there. Duke Darian had also returned from his journey from the neighboring kingdom. They were surprised to see the King and Queen walking hand in hand, while Countess Sarah walked behind the assistants of the King and Queen.

The King and Queen walked with their cold faces yet still looked graceful and harmonious. Queen Mother Helene smiled happily at the togetherness of the two. King Alec sits on his throne and Queen Roseline occupies a seat beside the King.

"May His Majesty the King be healthy always and live a long life."

"I thank you for the prayer you gave me. Thanks to your prayers God has given me healing. From this day on I will take over my position and return as King of Cardania.

"At this meeting, there are some things that will be announced to you. From now on I appoint the Queen as my advisor. The Queen will always attend all the meetings I will attend and she has the right to express her opinion to me."

Queen Roseline immediately looked at King Alec sharply.

"What is the King's purpose and purpose? Does he want to restrict access for me to enter and exit the palace and confine it inside this palace?" Inner Queen Roseline with her face.

King Alec only pursed his lips when he got Queen Roseline's annoyed look. The nobles and palace officials were stunned and a look of tension on their faces.

"Do you not want to thank His Majesty the King, Countess Sarah?" Said Suri Helene's Mother.

A little nervously Countess Sarah stood up and stepped forward and faced King Alec.

"Hamba says his matchless thanks for the kindness of His Majesty the King." Countess Sarah said as she saluted.

King Alec simply nodded without making a sound. Countess Sarah immediately sat back to her place.

"Please forgive Your Majesty. Is Her Majesty doing all this because of a request from Her Majesty the Queen?" Baroness asked Yolanda who triggered the gossip from the nobility.

"Baroness Yolanda is a woman. How would the Baroness feel if your late husband was rumored to be with another woman? Will the Baroness be happy and happy?" King Alec asked.

Baroness Yolanda hardened her jaw while getting a counterattack from King Alec.

"From Baroness's facial expression it looks like the Baroness isn't happy." Cynical King Alec.

"I did it because I wanted to keep the Queen's feelings, without the Queen begging me."

The hearts of Duke Sullivan and Duke Ramon warmed upon hearing King Alec's words.

Queen Roseline snorted angrily, then saluted and stepped foot into the queen's palace with Marie and Felix.

King Alec threw his breath out harshly.

"Didn't I keep my promise to her, then why is she still upset with me?" Decak King Alec doesn't understand.

Countess Sarah came to the king's palace and begged to meet King Alec.

"For let alone Countess Sarah to see me? Didn't the horse-drawn carriage get ready to take you to Duke Darian's residence?" King Alec asked a little annoyed.

"Please forgive Your Majesty. Can I stay a little while in this palace? Servant please." Please Countess Sarah.

"No. You'd better go to Duke Darian's residence. I don't want that rumor to grow if you stay in the palace and I don't want to hurt the Queen." King Alec answered, then walked away from Countess Sarah.

Countess Sarah left the palace with a broken heart. But Countess Sarah promised she would soon live back in the palace with King Alec.
