Chapters 27. The Self of Victor

Victor and Elsa gasped when they heard a knock from outside the door. Victor immediately stood up and opened the door. Victor develops his smile upon seeing the arrival of Queen Roseline.

"Sincerely servant, Queen."

"How are you and your family today, Victor?" Queen Roseline asked with a friendly smile.

"We're all good. All thanks to the Queen's generosity. Please come in, Her Majesty the Queen." Victor replied with a smile to Queen Roseline.

Roseline nodded and put her foot into the room. Elsa who has stood up immediately welcomes the arrival of Queen Roseline. Victor's smile instantly faded as he realized the cold gaze aimed for him from a man standing behind Queen Roseline. Who else if not King Alec whose heart was being burned by the flames of jealousy from seeing Queen Roseline smile to another man.

Victor looked at King Alec from head to toe which made King Alec even more upset. Upon seeing the oversized robe with the coat of arms of the Kingdom of Cardania, Victor widened his eyes. King Alec instantly pursed his lips.

"Sincerely, Your Majesty." Said Victor while kneeling before King Alec.

Elsa knelt down next to her husband.

"Ehem. Awake." King Alec said coldly.

Victor and Elsa soon wake up and step aside to give way to King Alec. King Alec went inside while circulating his gaze sweeping across the not-so-large room and sitting on a simple wooden chair. While Queen Roseline directly carried Tatiana and sat her on her lap. Tatiana is thrilled to be in the arms of Queen Roseline.

"How is Tatiana? Does he still have a fever?" Ask Queen Roseline.

"No Queen. Tatiana is completely healed. Even his appetite is increasing now." Answer Elsa.

"I'm glad to hear that. Tatiana's appetite increased because she previously felt pain for quite a long time and made her not tasteful to eat. Isn't Tatiana?"

Queen Roseline tickled Tatiana's stomach making the beautiful boy laugh out loud. Queen Roseline bit her puffer cheek softly in anxiety. Unknowingly King Alec smiled at the proximity of Queen Roseline to Tatiana. There was a warm feeling flowing in his heart.

King Alec imagined that if they had children, King Alec's happiness would double because he would always see the beautiful smile of Queen Roseline who was affectionate like today.

King Alec's face instantly turned grim and looked down.

King Alec gazes at Victor and his wife Elsa.

"So, you're Victor, the assassin who was about to kill my Queen?" King Alec asked with his cold face.

Victor knelt before King Alec.

"Truly Sire. I apologize and regret for committing this great crime. The servant is ready to accept all his punishments, even the death penalty." Answer Victor. "But I beg you not to involve my wife and daughter. They're innocent, Sire."

Elsa couldn't hold back her tears when she heard her husband's words.

"Baginda?" Lirih Queen Roseline.

King Alec nodded his head.

"I'm very angry with you. And I want to feel like I'm chopping off your head with my own hands."

Victor kept his head down and accepted King Alec's decision, although his heart was heavy, leaving his wife and children very small.

"But the decision is in the hands of the Queen. The queen is more entitled to punish you." The King of Alec.

Queen Roseline gives Tatiana to Elsa.

"Before the Queen imposes punishment on you, I want you to be honest. Tell me who paid you to kill the Queen?"

He should always get the woman he wants regardless of the status of the woman whether she is single or married."

Victor looked at his wife gently.

"I took Elsa and our baby Tatiana, who was 6 months old. We left the Gorzan Kingdom penniless, as we fled unprepared. I worked odd jobs during my time in some of the Kingdoms that we once occupied. Until we finally arrived in the Kingdom of Cardania and decided to settle in this kingdom."

"With the martial arts skills I have, I work as a mercenary bodyguard. But God still faithfully gave us the ordeal of making Tatiana a rare pain, and made me decide to become a hitman in order to earn even more money for my daughter's medical expenses." Bright Victor.

King Alec is shocked to hear the confessions and stories of Victor, and learns that Victor is actually one of the princes of the Kingdom of Gorzan.

"What do you mean, King?" Prince Victor did not understand.

King Alec stood up and approached Prince Victor, helping him to stand up.

"A prince must keep his wife." King Alec.

Queen Roseline smiled faintly at King Alec's attitude.

"The punishment I have given you, Prince Victor. I want you and your family to remain in the Kingdom of Cardania. And I want Prince Victor to help defend this kingdom, when there's an enemy trying to destroy it." Said Queen Roseline.

Prince Victor and his wife were very happy to hear the words of Queen Roseline. Elsa's heart becomes calm and happy as Queen Roseline kindly does not separate herself from the husband she loves so much.

"Thank you Queen. Thank you, King. I promise I will fight on the battlefield if any enemy wants to harass the Kingdom of Cardania." Prince Victor.

"You will be able to live in the home of my family, the residence of Duke Sullivan. There you can live safely because my brother has many men there. And the Prince can also help my brother train the palace soldiers." The Bright Queen Roseline.

"I agree with you, Queen. Prince Victor's family will be safe under Duke Ramon's watch. So that you can hide your true identity well." King Alec's.

Prince Victor and Princess Elsa are very happy, finally they can provide a good and safe life for their daughter, Tatiana. They swore never to betray all the good that the King and Queen of Cardania had given.

King Alec and Queen Roseline leave Victor's room. Duke Ramon's special soldiers will pick them up later, so it will not raise suspicion from the palace residents. Queen Roseline held onto her suddenly aching stomach. Cold sweat soaked his face, making King Alec anxious.

"Oh ****! My monthly schedule is coming. It hurts so much." Inner Queen Roseline while trying to endure the pain in her stomach.

"Are you okay, Queen? Your face looks very pale and keeps sweating. Are you sick?" Ask King Alec.

"Hamba is fine, Sire." Lying Queen Roseline.

But the stomach cramps he felt were getting worse. Queen Roseline's legs felt limp, and her body was weakened. King Alec holds the body of Queen Roseline who almost fell. King Alec's eyes widened when he saw the blood on the back of Queen Roseline's yellow dress.

"Queen, you're bleeding." The King of Alec.

Queen Roseline immediately lowered her face in embarrassment. King Alec realizes what happened to Queen Roseline. King Alec instantly took off his robe and used it to cover up the bloodstains on Queen Roseline's dress.

"What did His Majesty do? Your robe can get dirty later." The King of Alec's Protest.

"My servants can clean it up later. The queen is quiet enough, and I don't accept protests." Answer King Alec.

King Alec instantly raised the body of Queen Roseline and made her flinch. Queen Roseline was increasingly embarrassed to be in the arms of King Alec, but could not protest because her body was indeed very weak at this time. King Alec widened his pace, so that they could soon arrive at the queen's palace, because the distance where Victor and the queen's palace was quite far.

Queen Roseline looked at King Alec's handsome face with a very close distance. Strict jaws, macaque nose and sharp eyes that make the hearts of women become melted. Queen Roseline felt her heart thump. Queen Roseline buried her face in King Alec's chest, as she feared that she would be more and more fascinated by the man's good looks.

Both of them became the center of attention upon entering the queen's palace. Even King Alec carried the Queen's body up to his room and placed it slowly on the bed.

"Marie, help the Queen to clean up. His condition is not good at the moment. After that, make a warm chamomile tea to relieve the pain in his stomach." Shouted King Alec.

"Okay, Your Majesty." Answer Marie.

King Alec sat down beside Queen Roseline and gently rubbed the head of Queen Roseline.

"You have to rest a lot Queen, your body must be very weak because it's bleeding a lot. I'll go back to my palace and won't disturb your rest." Said King Alec softly.

King Alec kissed Queen Roseline's forehead gently before leaving. Queen Roseline rounded her eyes and instantly her face became blushing.

"Hamba did not expect that His Majesty could behave as gently as that, Queen." Marie said with a happy smile to make Queen Roseline's face reddened with embarrassment.
