NIGHT BUTTERFLY

NIGHT BUTTERFLY
#117

Early in the morning, Julia was already in front of Layla's house. About 10 o'clock last night, Layla texted him to pick him up. She doesn't know exactly where Layla will take her. Layla only advised, if Mr. Nurasmin and Ms. Sofia asked where they were going, she would answer, they would complete some tasks at school as a condition of receiving a diploma.

After traveling for an hour, at exactly 7 am they arrived at the boarding house Qudwatusshalihin Pemondah. Because the atmosphere in front of the gate was still quiet, Layla had Julia park her motorbike somewhat hidden behind teak trees that grew lined up along the road to the boarding school. Julia, who had been following Layla's directions along the way, still looked puzzled.

"I'm still confused as to why we got here. We're gonna do it here, anyway" Julia said. Layla who had not gotten off the motorcycle and was still sitting behind Julia just smiled. Instead of answering Julia's question, she pulled out a blue envelope from behind her jacket. Inside the blue envelope, he took out an announcement envelope he had gotten from school. He deliberately coated the envelope with another envelope as a surprise for Master Izzul Islam. He immediately put the envelope back in when Julia looked back.

"There's. Not everything I have to tell you today. Later, there's a time. You're the first person I'm going to tell you about" Layla replied. Julia frowned. He smiles. He moved his finger.

"Emmh..., I know, lest this have something to do with marriage, right?"

Layla smiles. He didn't answer. He got off the motorcycle. Three santri men were seen coming out carrying brooms towards the gate. Layla took out a black mask from inside her jacket pocket. He then installed it. Julia could only look at what Layla was doing.

"You wait here. I'll be there for a second" Layla said. He then stepped towards the gate. Leaving Julia who could only be dumbstruck to look at him.

"Assalamualaikum" Layla said when he was at the gate. Santri who had just started sweeping in unison turned his head. One of the men approached.

"Greetings, how can I help you, brother?" ask one of the sisters from behind the gate.

"Ee..., who has the front room of his house Master is whose name is," Layla said, pointing to the residence of Master Izzul Islam.

"Owh, Brother Khaliq. What's wrong, sister," said the santriwati.

"Eee.sister can help not. About Khaliqnya brother can be called here, no" said Layla.

The Santriwati checked the gate lock. Still locked. He looked towards his friend.

"Ely, who's the key to the gate?"

"Eh, just a minute." Santriwati who was called Ely was like remembering something. He suddenly took off his broomstick and ran in. Not long after, he was seen back. The key he brought was given to his friend.

"Let me take Kak," said Santriwati was allowing Layla to go first. Layla's closing in. He embraced the santriwati.

"Wait, Brother. Brother ask for help just this once. Just get Kholiqnya's brother here. Tell me a friend brought something important. I'm ashamed, there will be Master Teacher there," Layla said half in a whisper.

Santriwati was smiling.

"Good, Brother. Then, just wait a minute, yeah,"

Layla smiles.

"Thank you."

"Lately you've been getting weird, Layla. There are too many secrets that you keep from your best friend. What the hell is this?"

Again Layla did not have time to answer his question because santriwati who he told to call Abdul khalik called him. Layla re-raised her mask. He did not see Abdul Khalik with the santriwati. Does he not want to be called? Inner Layla.

"That brother, has been awaited as the brother of the Catholic," said the santriwati as he pointed towards Abdul khalik who stood beside the wall towards the residence of Master Izzul Islam. Abdul Khalik noticed Layla approaching him. Layla smiles. Had he not worn a mask, he would have known him. From his probing gaze, he was sure Abdul Khalik knew him. But he hoped Abdul Khalik did not know him.

"Can I help you?"

Layla took the envelope out from behind her jacket. He gave it to Abdul Khalik.

"Please leave it to Master Teacher, Brother.

"Who would you know, if you could?

"Just give it a hand, brother. Thank you" Layla said. He immediately turned around and walked away from Abdul Khalik. Abdul Khalik looked at him, trying to recognize his body shape and the way he walked. He seems to know her, but he doesn't dare to be sure. He took the time to wave his hand towards the santriwati who was still sweeping inside the gate. The three santri waved their hands back while smiling towards Layla.

The weather felt so hot by noon. The occasional wind blew, scattering street dust and dry garbage scattered in all directions. At the gate of the girls dormitory, some santriwati who turn picket guard, look cool to enjoy a cold drink on the table in front of them.

Rianti's white Avanza Velos is seen entering the hallway to the main house. One horn sounded Rianti enough to make Abdul khalik who was in his room, immediately rushed out and opened the gate . He smiled half-bendingly as Rianti who was in the car smiled at him.

"Let me carry his bag, Ms. Nyai," Abdul Khalik said as Rianti got out of his car. Rianti smiled.

"No, Lik. The bag is light. I can still bring my own," Rianti said. He looked to the side. Mr. Guru Izzul Islam's car is not yet in the parking lot. That means he and Jamila have not returned from the wedding invitation in the next village. He then walked to the terrace of the house. Abdul Khalik followed him slowly from behind.

Rianti did not go straight into the house. He chose to sit on the porch of the house. The sound of birds hanging in front of the porch of the house immediately welcomed him. Rianti smiled. He raised his thumb towards the bird.

"O yes, Lik, please call Suhaini and Nur Jamila?" Rianti. Abdul khalik nodded his head and immediately rushed towards the princess's hostel.

Adzan dhuhur sounding. Layla's restless meninabobokan turned her body back on the bed. He was still thinking about the envelope he left for Master Izzul Islam. He had since his return from the boarding house Qudwatusshalihin fretted to guess what the reaction of Master Izzul Islam once he saw the letter of announcement. Fretting because his heartbeat really made him uncomfortable. But he was sure, Master Teacher Izzul Islam must have remembered his promise as soon as he saw the letter. But the question is, how will he be able to know the response of Master Izzul Islam if he did not tell him? Sorry also he did not write a line or two lines of sentences to reinforce it. He would continue to wait with unrest in an uncertain time.

Layla lifted her body heavy. The last alternative so that he can immediately find out the response of Master Izzul Islam is to call him. Layla got up and got out of bed. The phone he was charging in the corner of the room was taken. But when he had found the mobile number of Mr. Guru Izzul Islam, he undoes his intention.

Layla stepped back towards her bed and threw her body hard. Waiting is the most boring job. Especially for something only he knows.
