43. Want to Be Praised

So happy Andy and Andreas ride their motorcycles in tandem around the city of Medan. Tired of going around aimlessly, Andy finally stopped their motorcycle on the sidewalk of Merdeka Square, standing next to their motorcycle.

“Bored also yes,” Andy cetus.

“What if we travel Berastagi, Perapat, Siantar. Or..why if we go to Kilometer 0!” the spirit of Andreas.

“More times. Can't be me. After being declared graduated, Papa told me to run my own business,” Andy said.

“Actually I am too. I want to study abroad to live free. But, the old woman said ‘after becoming the leader of the Company you are free to go around anywhere by working. No need to study too, practice in the field with expert educators that Mama has given better than to study’. That's what Mama said,” confided Andreas with a lazy face.

“What about the kids, huh? Did they all pass?” ask Andy to worry about his motorcycle gang.

“Leave, but there are some children who will go wandering because they want to work directly,” Andreas said.

“So much free life like them,” hela Andy lethargic.

“Syukuri aja. Delicious in our minds is not necessarily delicious in their minds,” tepis Andreas.

“Yes too,” Andy staring at Andreas. “Where are we going next?” andy asked.

“Balek is. I think the old woman was waiting for me at home,” Andreas said he was sitting on his motorcycle.

“Me too,” said Andy, he also climbed on his motorcycle.

Slowly the motorcycles belonging to Andy and Andreas drove away from the outskirts of Merdeka Square, returning to their respective homes.

1 Hour later.

Andy's motorcycle was parked in the garage. Andy rushed down and entered the house full of joy after seeing Khandar's car parked in the yard of the house.

“Pa, Dad. I graduated, Pa!” andy shouted to tell her so happy.

Andy's footsteps halted in the living room, where Khandar sat back and read the newspaper.

“Pa, this is my graduation letter envelope. Look,” Andy said back to tell, hand held out an outstretched envelope.

Andy's lips continue to be engraved with a smile, forgetting a moment of hatred for Khandar, in order to get praise from the results of his hard work so far. However, Andy's sincere hopes and smiles should disappear after hearing the ominous words from Khandar.

“Pass also you. Papa thinks a delinquent and disrespectful child like you will be an eternal student in school!”

Andy squeezed the white envelope in his hand, a cold gaze leading to the relaxed face of Khandar was staring at him.

“Is it so bad that I'm in Papa's eyes that Papa doesn't believe my words and my hard work?” ask Andy lirih.

“Papa didn't say that. Now you go upstairs, change clothes because we will have lunch together, then continue to go to the Company that you will manage later,” Khandar said giving orders.

“Good Pa,” says Andy.

Andy took both of his feet to step quickly towards his room with his hands continuing to squeeze the envelope containing the results to the graduates still in his hands.

Arriving at the room, Andy threw the envelope into the trash.

“AAAAA!” andy shouted so annoyed.

Amidst his frustration with Khandar, the phone in his pants pocket shook violently. He immediately took his cell phone, and saw a video call from Karina. Quickly his thumb pressed the green button, pointing the camera lens towards the room sky.

📲 [“Assalamualaikum.”] said Karina. Karina was sitting on the bench of the university park.

📲 [“Salam.”] says Andy briefly.

📲 [“What is the result of graduation?”] asked Karina curiously.

📲 [“Lulus.”] Andy said with a wry face, his legs stepped closer to the long sofa and threw his body there, the camera still pointed to the room sky.

📲 [“Alhamdulillah. Looks like you're tired, so I turn off the phone call...”].

📲 [“Ja-no, I'm just annoyed with Papa.”]

📲 [“Kesal why?”] asked Karina curiously.

📲 [“Oh, so only because of such a problem. Because Mr. Khandar doesn't praise you. Instead I am the one who praised you.”] suggested Karina.

📲 [“I miss bu.”] said Andy suddenly, he turned his camera towards his face.

📲 [“If I don't.”] Karina said to disappoint Andy.

📲 [“For now there is no one else in my heart except, both my parents, and you.”] Karina said to make Andy ashamed.

📲 [“Iya. Hem, because I've become a teacher, and you're not a student. How about if you stop calling me by the name ‘ibu’.”] Karina's proposal suddenly.

“Walaikumsallam,” sahut Andreas with flat face.

Mimi sat herself down on the empty sofa next to Andreas, putting all her groceries on the table.

“Where is your graduation envelope,” said Mimi reached out her hand.

“It's Ma,” Andreas gives a white envelope over Mimi's palm.

Mimi opened her envelope, and read her son's graduation announcement.

“Start! You passed baby!” chirping Mimi, spontaneously hugging and kissing Andreas' face, made her handsome face filled with maroon-red lipstick.

“Despite Ma, I'm not a child anymore,” said Andreas trying to release a strong hug from Mimi.

Satisfied had showered Andreas with kisses and hugs. Mimi let go of his embrace, then flicked the long brown hair onto Andreas' face. Made Andreas quickly get rid of his face.

“Mmm, this old woman is indeed-there's just her behavior,” murmured Andreas while cleaning the rest of the lipstick all over his face.

“Because today you have graduated. What if tomorrow we have a holiday abroad. You want to, right?”

“Mau, I want, Ma!” sahut Andreas quickly so happy.

“Okayah, if so Mama will book a plane ticket,” said Mimi took her mobile phone, and immediately booked a plane ticket for both of them.
