She's my Husband

She's my Husband
LAST TIME

Waiting is the most annoying and disturbing thing. Day after day Mila was waiting for news from Devan. But the man couldn't say when he could meet Elgar. According to Devan, Elgar was always busy.

Can't wait anymore, Mila decided to meet Elgar today. He's been waiting in an online taxi since the afternoon near Elgar's house. Almost 10 p.m., he just saw Elgar's car passing by. Immediately, Mila got out of the car and ran towards the gate of Elgar's house.

"So much sir." Mila shouted as a security guard was about to close the gate again.

"I want to see Elgar." Mila cried to a security guard who approached her.

"Sorry, have you had any prior appointments? You see Mr. Elgar has advised if he does not want to receive guests first in the meantime."

"But it's important sir." Mila forced her way in but a security guard immediately held her back and another hurriedly closed the gate.

"Fuckin!" Mila Shouted. "WHITE!"

"Please don't make a fuss here." Snapped a security guard while pulling Mila away from the gate.

"Take him off." Elgar's shout interrupted the two guards. They finally let go of Mila.

Here they are now. In a long chair in the house of Elgar. Both Mila and Elgar, no one spoke. Maybe because there's too much to say, until there's not a word out. There is no scene of staring at each other even though the two miss each other. Both are the same looking straight ahead and at war with their respective feelings.

"I."

"I."

Both say the same word together.

"You first." Elgar.

Mila took out a diamond ring from her bag and thrust it towards Elgar.

"I want to give it back. This is not a gift, but a proposal ring. When we don't get married again, I'm supposed to give this back."

Elgar stared at the ring Mila was holding. Not lost in his memory, how that night he proposed to Mila.

Elgar took the ring and one hand opened Mila's palm.

"Save it." Elgar put the ring in Mila's hand and closed it again. "Nobody has any right to that but you."

Mila lifted her face to look at Elgar. After 2 weeks of not meeting each other, finally tonight, they can look at each other in this close distance.

But why, it hurts so much. Near, but unachievable.

"And aparte_"

"It's yours too." Cut Elgar.

"B_"

"I'm willing to give it to him."

For a moment, they fell silent again. Until finally, Mila again made a sound.

"Did you miss me for 2 weeks?"

Elgar shook. "Never, I've never missed you." He turned his face away from being able to lie to himself and Mila.

Mila reached out to touch Elgar's jaw. He pulled Elgar's chin to face him. He looked carefully at the eye beads that began to look glassy.

"I miss you El. Every time. Every minute, every second, I miss you."

Elgar could no longer hold back his tears. She hugged Mila tightly and cried behind her back. This is why he didn't want to meet Mila. He was weak in front of the woman. She's afraid she can't shake Mila.

"I miss you so much Mil, so much. I almost feel crazy for missing you." Elgar's murmur was interrupted between his sobs. "I'm sorry Mil, sorry."

Mila let go of Elgar's embrace and looked at the face of the man she still loved so much. There are tears that are endlessly flowing.

Mila smile. Right now, he was dead from holding back so as not to cry.

"There is nothing to forgive El. I don't blame anyone here. Maybe this is the destiny line we have to live.

Elgar reached out his hand to touch Mila's face. For God's sake, he misses the woman in front of him so much right now.

Without Mila knowing, ever since they split up, Elgar is like a madman. He worked to die without knowing the time to be able to momentarily forget Mila. But still, when night fell, he was tormented longing. He would even sit for hours at night in a cafe overlooking their apartment. Continually staring at the window of their unit in hopes of seeing Mila from afar even though it was impossible. Their units are too high and the glasses are not translucent.

Mila nodded. "You too. Live well. And another one."

"Hem.." Elgar narrowed his eyes.

"Stop crying. The Elgar I know isn't a whiny person." Cibir Mila with a forced smile. Forcing yourself to smile was not easy, inner Mila.

"Oh yes. What were you trying to say?" Ask Mila.

Elgar was silent for a moment. Then he stared at the garden lights while smiling bitterly.

"My marriage to Salsa was brought forward. Two weeks, we're getting married."

Mila tightly gripped the bench she was sitting on. No matter how hard he tried to toughen up, but this was too painful. The tears she had been holding back from now on finally broke. But he hurriedly removed it and smiled.

"May you and Salsa be happy." Sounds sincere, but a vow, not as sincere as it sounds. Because praying for the happiness of our loved ones with others, it is not easy.

"I'm going El first." Mila said as she got up from her seat.

"Wait." Elgar blocked Mila's wrist. "Wait a minute."

Mila nodded and sat back down. Elgar, seeing Mila cold, took off his coat and put it on Mila's boat.

"May I hold your hand?" Ask Elgar.

Mila nodded, making Elgar immediately grasp Mila's fingers and lay on her lap. Still feels the same. El's hand is still as warm as ever.

"You know what I regret most right now?" Elgar asked as he looked up at the star in the sky. Tonight the sky was indeed so bright, unfortunately inversely proportional to his mood.

"Our meeting?" Terka Mila's.

"Not." Elgar looked at Madia. "I regret that I wasted almost 6 months together. I'm sorry why I didn't create the most beautiful memories of every second of our time together. I'm sorry I didn't say I love you all the time. If I had known that 6 months was the most beautiful time of my life, I would not have wasted it."

Mila strengthened their hands while smiling. He rewires his memories with Elgar. Although sweet things only happen lately. But still, every time they have been together, will be the most beautiful memories for Mila.

They stayed in that position for quite a while. Shut up and enjoy the togetherness that might be the last time for them. Until a car comes along and interrupts them.

"Devs." Mila muttered as she saw Devan get off the car.

"I told Devan to come get you. Not good night woman alone. Go home." With a heavy heart, Elgar let go of his hand.

Mila was about to take off the coats on her shoulder but Elgar shook his head.

"For you."

Elgar drove Mila to the side of the car. There Devan opened the door for Mila.

"Please take care of Mila." Order Elgar while patting Devan on the shoulder. It feels like a dream to say this to Devan the rival. But according to him, there's nothing better than Devan that he can trust to look after Mila.

Devan nodded then walked towards the wheel. Elgar stared at Devan's moving car leaving his yard. And the moment the car disappeared, he could feel, if half his soul had been lost. Maybe after this, he could never be happy. His body is like without life.

"I'll love you forever Mila. Even when this body belongs to someone else. My heart will remain yours."

With slow steps, Elgar entered his house. The feeling he was feeling right now, was more painful than anything. His helplessness made him feel the most useless human being on this earth. Just to fight for love he can't. So embarrasing. Elgar went into the room and went straight to the bathroom. He splashed his body with cold water almost midnight.

...****************...

In Devan's car, Mila's gaze was immediately fixed on something above the dashboard. Devan hissed realizing his carelessness by letting the thing be there.

"Don't look at." Devan said as Mila was about to reach for the invitation on the dashboard.

But Mila ignored Devan's words. An invitation bearing the names Elgar and Salsa. Slowly open the fancy invitation. Even according to Mila, this was the most luxurious invitation she had ever seen. As Elgar had said, the date was there, two more weeks after today.

"Are there plans to continue education?" Devan deliberately switched the topic so that Mila was not fixated on the invitation.

"Why?" Ask Mila while looking at Devan.

"Singapore is a great place to continue your education."

Singapore? Mila has never even thought about continuing her education abroad.

"Me and Pink are moving to Singapore. I was running a new business with a friend there. If you want, come with us."
