The Winter Man

The Winter Man
#30

Last night they came home at three in the morning and Yura just woke up at ten in the morning. He even forgot to prepare breakfast for Winter who went to the office.

It looks like Winter didn't have breakfast either because the dining table was clean. The man had already left at seven in the morning.

Still in her pajamas, Yura walked down the stairs to the kitchen to drink a glass of water. After that he opened the refrigerator and found the watermelon in the bowl that had been cut.

Yura took the bowl. "The seeds go where .." said Yura, watching the watermelon cut clean from the seeds.

"People have no definite work that takes watermelon seeds one by one."

Yura brought the watermelon bowl to the sofa. He lifted both his legs up on the sofa, eating watermelon by watching tv.

His phone vibrated long on the table, Yura picked up her phone and picked up the call.

"Hallo."

"Hallo, good morning Miss Sunshine."

"Doctor Leon ..."

"Yes, I'm Doctor Leon, Miss. I want to let you know that the blood test results are out. Miss can come to Jasmine Hospital."

"Not to the foundation, Doc?"

"Today is not my schedule at the foundation, Miss. I'm at the Hospital."

"Oh, so. I'm going to the hospital in the afternoon, Doc."

After turning off her phone call, Yura's face turned lethargic at the thought of her blood test results. He just stabbed the watermelon with a fork.

At noon Yura went to Melati Hospital by bus. Her troubled mind made the girl just lean against the bus window with a lethargic face. Sometimes he takes a long breath.

"Fall again?" ask someone who just sat next to Yura.

Yura turned her head and found Magma smiling towards her.

"You .. ah sucks, find another seat there," Yura kicked out.

"Is this your bus?"

"I sat here first."

"But the chair next to you is empty."

Yura clucked in annoyance. "As far as you are."

Yura again leaned her head against the window of the bus.

"Fall again?" Magma repeated her question.

Yura lazily turned back. "Did you see the new plaster on my body?"

Magma shakes.

"If there is no means no falling. How the hell!"

"But your face is as pitiful as the first time I met you when I fell" said Magma.

"I am like this" Yura said slowly.

*

A few minutes later Yura woke up from her sleep after the bus driver woke her up. He evaporated first.

"Have you arrived, sir?" yura asked with a new face waking up.

"From now on, people have come down from earlier."

Yura looked to the side. "Where were the men sitting next to me?"

"It came down from earlier, at the first stop."

"Oh yeah?"

Then Yura scratched her head. "So he left when I was sleeping" he murmured.

Yura got off the bus and at the stop there were many people waiting for their turn to take the bus. But they instead looked at Yura with her laughter held back.

The confused Yura just stared at them one by one.

Why are they looking at me like that.

Yura even heard someone who was actually laughing clearly. Laughter is like being ridiculed. Yura hurried away from there and at that time the people at the stop burst out loud laughter until it was heard by Yura's auditory senses even though the girl had already moved away from the stop. And again, why do people at stops mimic the sound of cats laughing.

Yura clasped firmly on the strap of her shawl bag as she felt uncomfortable with the sight of the people who kept looking at her while laughing.

"Why do you keep looking at me like that, huh?!" annoyed Yura.

"Russia ... Omei ..." That's the only answer from them.

"God!"

"Meoww .. meoww .. hahaha ..." A bunch of college kids laughed satisfied.

Yura frowned, then she held her cheek.

"Is there nothing wrong with my face?" yura muttered.

Then he hastily pulled out the phone from his bag and opened the camera feature. When he saw himself in front of the camera, Yura rounded her eyes.

His face in the picture looks like a cat. With a straight line as a whisker on both of her cheeks, a black round mark on her nose.

"Good shit what's wrong with my face."

"Hahaha, hey less happy childhood huh. Still pictures on the face." led by the people standing near Yura.

Yura immediately ran down. People told Yura's departure.

Yura walked into the Hospital and immediately looked for a bathroom. He kept looking down, not looking at his face. People had looked at him in wonder with Yura running down.

When in the bathroom, he sighed harshly looking at his own face in front of the mirror. Luckily the bathroom was empty.

"Aaaa Magma shit*n!" Upset Yura.

Yura was one hundred percent sure it was Magma, because she was the only one she knew on the bus and sat next to him. He also went down before himself.

The girl let out a long sigh then washed her face in the sink. Then dry it with tissue.

"Be careful you're Magma, if you meet me!" yura growled to the point of clenching her hand about to punch her image in front of the mirror.

Yura came out of the bathroom and walked towards Doctor Leon's room. When he saw Doctor Leon's name on one of the doors. He opened the door slowly.

"Come in" said Doctor Leon from the room.

Yura opened the door wide and then closed it again. He smiled at Doctor Leon.

"Please Sit ..."

The girl pulled out a chair and sat down in front of Doctor Leon.

"How are you, Miss Sunshine?"

"All right, Doc." Yura tried to hide her tension as usual. His hands were cold.

Doctor Leon pushes an envelope. "This is your blood test. .. You can open it."

Yura stared at the envelope for a moment then looked at Doctor Leon who was silent in silence. Hesitatingly, his hand stretched out to pick up the envelope. Yura sighed as her hands suddenly trembled.

"Whatever happens, you can definitely get through it, Miss Sunshine ..."

Yura did not know what Doctor Leon meant. What was clear was that his words just now were like a spirit to Yura.

With trembling hands, the pale face he swallowed his hard-earned Saliva and slowly opened the paper from the envelope.

Yura rounded her eyes when she saw the results of her blood test. He nodded and closed his mouth in disbelief. Doctor Leon's diagnosis is the same as the symptoms of the disease he saw on google a few days ago.

Yura has blood cancer (Leukemia)

"Nrt ..." Yura looked at Doctor Leon with a sad look.

Doctor Leon breathed. "You need chemotherapy as soon as possible. It's a serious illness, Miss Sunshine."

"W-can I be healed?" That was all that was on Yura's mind. He does not care if he has to feel the syringe again the most important result he will recover.

He did not want chemotherapy to cure his disease.

"Miss ..." Doctor Leon hung up his sentence for a moment.

"Cancer cells are like the roots of a tree. All we have to do is not only stop the roots from growing but also uproot them. Cancer cells are easy to develop, hopefully with the treatment Miss Sunshine does not only make the cancer cells stop growing but also disappear."

"What is the approximate one hundred percent cure if the chemotherapy is successful?" yura asked with teary eyes.

"Miss ... don't think about anything else just yet, we better schedule chemotherapy from now on."

"Jawab first, Doc. I need to know, is the future I'm really going to recover without getting leukemia again?"

Doctor Leon shook his head making the world of Yura seem to collapse instantly.

"In some cases, those who recover only survive 3-5 years, then the cancer cells grow back. Some only lasted a year, then went back to chemotherapy. But don't worry Miss. .. there are also those who live almost ten years and they are free from that evil cell."
