Me Before You

Me Before You
Chapter 21

"My love is back, ma'am." Monica again said this when she saw the look on the face of the mother. Although the mother did not say it, but Monica knew that her mother was very surprised to hear the return of Monica's memory.

"I remember everything mom, I remember. Even I remember how the accident happened." Monica said half sobbed.

Michelle Frances instantly got up from her chair, "honey?" then he looked at Angela next to him. "How can you?"

"I don't know either." Angela replied half-whispering.

"Mother, the accident happened because of me. Because I'm the one who's trying to report my friends' treatment. I'm sorry."

The mother immediately approached Monica and hugged Monica tightly. "No, son. Don't say anything."

Monica returned her mother's embrace. The atmosphere turned into haru.

"Everything's happened, the important thing is you're okay, baby" said the mother, stroking her back.

In the tight embrace of the mother, Monica nodded, understanding the mother's feelings. His mother must be worried now. Monica has no idea how guilty her mother is for hiding all the truth from her. And Monica understands that. The mother wants Monica to be happy with her new life. But everything changes when Joshua Spencer comes back into Monica's life. At that time Monica wanted to know who Joshua Spencer was, until finally she learned the fact that Joshua Spencer was a stranger to Monica.

The world has changed a lot, and now Monica finds Joshua Spencer in the figure of a handsome young man who transformed into an angel. He comes with great hopes for Monica, but now the man is gone and maybe even Monica can't find him anymore. But fortunately, there is Angela who gives hope again to Monica to meet the figure of Joshua.

Monica took off her arms with her mother, but her hands were still tightly clasping her hands. "Mother, Joshua was the one who saved me. He helped me when everyone treated me unfairly. Her.... He used to go to school with me."

"Is that true, baby?" ask Michelle Frances.

Monica nods. "He's a good man."

Michelle Frances stroked her daughter's hair. "It's a pity that she's not here, but she hasn't told him anything, but she's gone."

"Auntie, I plan to take Monica to the city to meet with Joshua" Angela said on the sidelines of the blue haru atmosphere between mother and child. He dared not speak, for fear of interrupting. "... while meeting with Monica's favorite author." Angela continued. He almost forgot that Joshua was a writer and he almost exposed that fact in front of Monica.

"You sure you want to look for him?" the mother asked Monica, looking into the child's eyes.

Monica nodded. "I'm..."

"They love each other, just limited distance. Moreover, Joshua knew who Monica was, she was depressed and worried about Monica's condition." once again, Angela interrupted the conversation. The girl is intent on helping Monica out of her home, so that the cousin can be reunited with Joshua.

Monica's mother couldn't help but feel relieved. He forgot the fact that his son was an adult and it was appropriate to love someone. While Monica could not help but be embarrassed, her face suddenly reddened. Can't believe Angela would say that in front of her mother.

"You're an adult now, I won't limit you anymore. Now you're free to do anything."

Monica widened her eyes. "Mother seriously?"

Her mother nodded, "of course." then Michelle Frances turned her head again to look at Angela, "when are you going to leave?"

...-ooO-i...

Exactly one week from now, a fan meeting will take place. Various preparations have been made Joshua and his friends to perfect the event. Yeah, it's Joshua's first show, it's only natural that he's a little nervous, because he'll soon meet his fans. Not only fans, he will also meet Monica Frances. Joshua had a lot of hope on Angela so that the girl could persuade Monica to come.

According to Ferdinand, the tickets available for the fan meeting had sold out within minutes. To be honest, Joshua could not believe it. He could not believe that he had so many fans. He also did not believe that his work was so attractive to so many people. What a great achievement for Joshua Spencer.

Joshua Spencer had just finished decorating the corner of the room, when Ferinand walked in and stood behind him. Joshua automatically jerked a little to find his friend.

Joshua nodded, "of course."

"It seems you're a busy man now." said Ferdinand with a little joke.

"Well, just this moment." said the man who now walked side by side with Ferdinand.

"As for your new story?"

Joshua shrugged both shoulders. "Still in process."

"Can I tell Felicya about this?" Ferdinand again showed his short laugh, making Joshua widen his eyes.

"You tell him we're stopping being friends!"

Ferdinand clucking. "You don't understand, it's called a strategy to quickly get a partner!"

"You're the one who benefits, I'm the one who loses." Joshua said.

"After all, what makes you lose? Felicya's not a show-off guy."

"Whatever." Joshua sneered.

"By the way, how's Monica doing?"

Joshua stopped his steps. The name reminded her of the female figure she had once known.

"He's okay, right? I heard from Adrian, Angela's coming home in two days, is she going to take Monica?"

"I don't know and don't want to hope" said Joshua resigned, then he resumed his steps.

"Who? Why that?"

"Because there is no hope anymore. Why do I keep hoping, while the expected does not give certainty?"

"True too." said Ferdinand while having a beard. "Whatever it is, hopefully your wishes can be realized on Christmas day."

Joshua Spencer did not reply to his friend, he chose to exhale, riled. Somehow he was not so interested in the plea of his friend, even though Ferdinand made a plea for Joshua.

During the past few days without Monica Frances, made Joshua realize that all this time he missed the figure of Monica. And the thing Joshua does most when he misses Monica is daydreaming.  Maybe for Joshua daydreaming is the right interlude to do when free time while looking for inspiration. Until unconsciously his mind continues to soar thinking of Monica Frances.

How's that girl now? Does he like to wake up at night? Is Monica getting used to her life again?

Surely there were many questions Joshua had in mind, but none of them could answer.

It may sound a bit cliche, but Joshua still hopes Monica will come at a fan meeting later. Although the possibilities are small, but Joshua believes in his expectations. After all, if for example Monica does not come, she will assume it is not time to meet with Monica again. God could have brought them back together through an unexpected event.

Joshua actually did not want much hope, because for him, too much hope can self-destruct.
