21_Morning Sickness

...Happy reading...

...*************...

A week has passed since Aisyah and Bayu visited midwives near their contract. During that time Aisyah still experience morning sickness, despite having regularly taken anti-nausea drugs that she obtained from midwives. However, Aisyah still trying to move as usual. Aisyah still woke up early to prepare breakfast and still went to work using angkot. Only once did Bayu drive Aisyah to the factory. That is when Aisyah looks really limp.

The sun was just above the crown when factory employees momentarily stopped their activities. Not long after, the sound of the azan echoed until it was heard in the workers area. Some of them rushed to the mosque, some went to the pantry by tapping the supplies they brought from home. Some of them went to the cafeteria. Amidst the hustle and bustle in a room, Aisyah just calmly put her head on the work desk.

“Aish, eat, yuk!” Witri invites Aisyah while removing the provisions from her bag.

“I'm eating males, Ma'am. Let me take a short nap,” replied Aisyah without shifting her current position.

“Eh, can't do that. You have to force it to eat a little. Poor, tuh, that's in your stomach. He needs nutritional intake,” persuaded Witri, he did not feel the heart to see the pale Aisyah.

Aisha raised her head. Along with that, his phone vibrated. The name Bayu was displayed there. A conversation notification is on. Aisyah rushed to open the application.

[Sir, what's eating yet? Don't forget to eat, yeah!]

Aisyah smiles when reading whatsapp from her husband. Her heart feels warm, if Bayu had behaved that way, Aisyah would have felt to be the happiest woman.

[This is just about to eat. Also, do not forget to eat.]

After replying to the short message, Aisyah picked up the provisions and immediately followed Witri. Their goal is the pantry.

“You're this?” Witri thrust his lunch box containing slices of pear. “This fruit can help reduce nausea, loh.”

Aisyah glanced at the slices of fruit in the lunch box. Although it does not look fresh due to being peeled too early, but for Aisyah it is able to arouse her appetite.

“I ate, yes, Ma'am.”

Aisyah instantly took the first cut and put it in her mouth while listening to Witri's joke. Unconsciously, Aisyah almost spent a full box.

“Jeez, Ma'am. Sorry, really, even I'm the one who ngabisin.” Spontaneous Aisyah stopped her eating and pushed the box towards Witri. This made Witri laugh.

“Udah out. I intentionally brought this for you. When I was pregnant, I also did not eat. So I just ate a pear like an apple.”

Aisyah felt grateful to have a friend like Witri. Sometimes Witri plays an older brother who always gives her advice. At other times, Witri became a friend who always gave him spirit. Maybe because they both live abroad to feel the same fate and help each other.

...**************...

Aisyah's lethargic steps down the sidewalk that afternoon. The streets were crowded by people who had just come out of the factory. Many motorcycles lined the roadside, they were patiently waiting for someone who was still inside the crowd of factory employees. Seeing that, there was envy sneaking in Aisyah's heart. If only Bayu could be like them, Aisyah would be very happy.

While waiting for the angkot at the stop, Aisyah opened her phone. He hoped that the miracle would come to him. However, again Aisyah had to be disappointed when a message from Bayu entered five minutes ago.

[Home home be careful, yes, Deck. Don't let our children cram.]

Aisyah just took a breath, it seemed like she had to accept the fact that her husband had not changed.

...***************...

Today is Sunday. Aisyah returned to the bed after dawn prayers. Suddenly his head felt so heavy that he could not afford to cook in the kitchen. Aisyah fell asleep again for a while until the subtle shock she felt on her shoulders.

“Dek, wake. It's seven o'clock, we have breakfast, yuk!” Faint familiar voices tickled his sense of hearing.

“You don't need to cook. I bought Soto at a roadside stall there. You just rest. What is the breakfast you brought here?” Bayu's left hand held Aisha's hand, while his right hand stroked her.

“Not working, Mas. We go to the dining table only,” reject Aisyah gently.

Bayu led Aisha to the dining table. However, just as Aisyah landed her body on the chair, her stomach felt stirred again to make Aisyah run to the bathroom and lock the door from the inside. Aisyah knew that Bayu was after her and she did not want her husband to get angry and disgusted to see her vomit.

“Dek, the door is not locked. What if you faint?” Bayu stood in front of the door with a panicked face.

There's no answer from inside. There was only the sound of water coming out of the faucet. Bayu swiftly prepared a warm tea and immediately brought it to the dining table. Not long Aisyah came out of the bathroom with a pale face. Bayu immediately carried Aisyah's body and brought her to the chair. Aisyah who felt herself so noticed smiled slightly. He could not guess the attitude of Bayu who sometimes so attentive.

“Drink first, Dek.” Bayu brought the glass closer to Aisyah's mouth. After putting the glass back, Bayu took the rice for Aisyah.

“Little bit, Mas,” pinta Aisyah.

“You should eat a lot.”

“Can't, Mas. Later I vomit again,” reject Aisyah. Bayu complied with Aisyah's request.

“Today is it a holiday right?” asked Aisyah who only answered a nod by Bayu. “Aish can ask for help?”

“Ask what please, Dek?” Bayu momentarily looked at Aisyah's face.

“Buy pear for Aish. Yesterday Aisyah ate a pear that was given by Witri, and Aish felt good stomach. Not nauseous anymore,” Aisyah explained slowly. She was afraid Bayu would get angry.

“Not yesterday has been given anti-vomiting drugs same mother Midwife? Have you been drinking yet? Pears are expensive, Dek.”

Aisha was silent for a moment. He could guess the answer. “Mas Bayu must have set aside money to buy soto and tempe fried this,” Inner Aisyah.

“Aisyah there's still money, Mas. This is what asked for his dedek. Let him be healthy.” Aisyah had to make a fetus in her stomach as an excuse.

“Pardon mom, yes, son. Forced mother to make you as an excuse let Dad want to go buy pear for mom,” inner Aisyah while stroking her stomach is still flat.

...***************...

The day went by, but Bayu was still lounging in front of the television while playing games. Aisyah who had been sleeping next to him was not considered. Time and again Bayu yelled at his mistress regardless of Aisyah in the least. While in Aisyah's mind, the slices of pear continue to tease. If only Aisyah's head was not dizzy, she would have gone to the market to buy it.

“Mas.” Aisha touches Bayu's shoulder.

“Hhmm.” Respond Bayu without shifting his focus from the phone.

“Buy pear when?”

“Ck! You're just troublesome. Short, when it's finished the game.”

Hearing the word ‘troubles’ makes Aisyah's heart hurt. She thought Bayu would change after her pregnancy. But in fact, Bayu still prioritizes friends and considers Aisyah as a troublesome wife.

Slowly Aisyah moved away from her current position. He walked into the room and laid himself on the bed. Immediately he pulled the blanket over to cover his body to hide the clear crystals that began to drip from the beautiful eye fertilizers.
