Garin had just come out of the bathroom when she heard the phone ring.
Previously, she had made breakfast for Raka and escorted her to school, but instead of taking a walk at home, she crawled back to bed, to sleep a few more hours.
Although he did not manage to sleep as much as he planned, he could at least fall asleep for a while.
He would work from noon until eight o'clock at night for the day, and he looked forward to a relaxing night afterwards. A day he had planned in such a way.
Raka is about to leave, she goes to the cinema with Jones, and Saras offers to stop by Garin's house so they can spend time together.
Phone calls will change all that.
Garin took a towel and tied it around the waist, answering the phone that kept ringing after her first call failed her to receive.
Sutrisno is at the end of there. After making small talk, Sutrisno went straight to the point.
"You better get to the office now" he said.
"Why, what's wrong?" ask Garin.
"The police took Amar Utah last night, you know that, don't you?"
"Yes, right." replied Garin with a frown.
"He said he saw you last night" Sutrisno said.
"Oh. I happened to pass by and greeted the police on duty and saw him there. Is there a problem?" ask Garin.
“I'm not sure yet. How soon can you get here?” ask Sutrisno.
Garin was not sure what he thought about it, nor did he really understand the tone Sutrisno used.
"I just finished my shower. Maybe half an hour?" answer Garin.
"When you get there, make sure you let me know, I'll be in your room to talk. I'll wait." said Sutrisno.
"Can't you at least tell me what this is all about?"
There's a long break across there.
“Come here as soon as possible. We'll talk again." Sutrisno closed.
After the call ended, with curiosity in the head, Garin got dressed. A few moments later he had been in his usual car parked while in the office.
"So, what's all this about?" Garin asked.
As soon as he arrived, Sutrisno pulled him into the office and closed the door behind him.
"Tell me about last night" Sutrisno said.
"With Amar Ulah, you mean?"
“Start from scratch.” pinta Sutrisno.
"Um. by then it was past midnight, I felt a little hungry after finishing some work, I said, so I went out to buy some cool fried rice down the street from Kebul-Kebul Restaurant-you know, right? The one near Alpamidi."
Sutrisno nodded, crossing his arms. "Continue" he said.
"Just wait a minute to get a few boxes of my fried rice. It was quiet, and I knew the place would close soon. Around two in the morning, on my way back to see the officer I knew, so I stopped to greet him and share the fried rice, and that was a good thing I did. That's when I found out that there was Amar Ulah in Snaa who was stopped for acting again. That's it and I'll be home soon." Garin pulled both of his shoulders.
Sutrisno said nothing, but his eyes never escaped Garin. "Is there anything else?"
"There's not. Was there a problem with Amar Ulah or the police last night? Is anyone hurt or something?" urged Garin.
"No, it's not about that" Sutrisno said.
Then what's up?
Garin thought for a moment. "There's not. He knows who I am, but I can assure you that he says absolutely nothing even he doesn't call my name......" Garin fell silent, trying to remember if there was anything else.
"Is he acting strangely you think?"
"It doesn't look like that.. Just outside, you know he's often in trouble with drinks, right?"
"Huh. ," muttered Sutrisno, and he looked dreamy again.
"Come, Sutrisno, tell me what happened." Garin Pinta.
Sutrisno sighed. "She said she wanted to talk to you."
Garin waited, knowing there was more to be said Sutrisno next.
"He just wants to talk to you. He said he had information."
Garin also knows the history of Amar Ulah. "And?"
"He wouldn't say anything to the police or to me. But he said it's a matter of life and death."
After the conversation, half an hour later Garin and Sutrisno were at the place where Amar was arrested.
After a special permit, Garin meets Amar directly in his detention room.
Garin stared at Amar through the bars, thinking the man looked almost on the verge of death. Like other chronic alcoholics, his skin is pale yellow. His hands trembled, and sweat poured from his forehead.
While sitting on his bed, he involuntarily scratched his arm for hours, and Garin could see red lines, covered in blood, and he could see, like the lines of lipstick that a little boy smeared on the man's arm.
Garin pulled out a chair and sat forward, his elbows propped against his knees.
"You want to talk to me?" Garin Voice.
Amar looked up when he heard his voice.
He was unaware of Garin's arrival, and it seemed like it took him a while to focus. He wiped his upper lip and nodded.
"Sir Camat."
Garin leaned forward. "What do you want to talk to me about, Amar? My deputy is quite nervous upstairs. He said you told him you had information for me."
"Why did you let that cop bring me here last night?" Amar asked. "I didn't hurt anyone." She said as if what happened to her was the result of Garin's abandonment last night.
"You were drunk last night. And you're on the street. It's a crime." Reply to Garin calmly.
"But you could have said something last night so I wouldn't be arrested." Amar spoke by wiping away the sweaty fur that kept flowing down his forehead.
Garin tries to figure out where Amar is going with all this.
"I don't have the authority to do that" he said honestly. "And if that's all you want to talk to me about, I don't have time, there's something more important to me to do."
Garin pretended to stand up from his chair and stepped down the corridor.
"Wait," stop Amar.
Garin stopped and turned around. "Yes?"
"There's something important I want to tell you, sir."
"You told Sutrisno, it's a matter of life and death." Garin went straight to his point.
Amar wiped his forehead and lips again. "I can't go back to prison. I—-I really don't want to be here, you have to help me, sir. I'm on probation." He said with a tremble.
"That's what happened. You break the law, you go to jail. Have you never learned it?"
