At first he was sure he could, but when his marriage with David was held luxurious and lively, at that time he saw the expression of two people who were so heartbreaking. David, her husband was not happy at all on his wedding day and the girl—Sarah, looked sadly at them from a distance. Nia feels very guilty. Even so, he still thinks positively. She was sure that as time went on her husband would turn to love her.
Who would have thought Nia's efforts to be a worthy wife in David's eyes did not produce results at all. David really made their marriage just a status. Despite living under one roof, they slept in separate rooms. Since the wedding Nia has not felt the beauty of being a bride. David never touched her or just hugged her. Nia believes her husband still loves Sarah. She felt betrayed because her husband put his heart on another girl and knew he should not feel pain. He knew this was the consequence from the beginning. Something to bear for marrying a man who does not love her.
Nia had intended to grant David's unspoken wish when their marriage had gone on for more than a year because her husband had not paid attention to her. Although in front of the parents they pretend to be a harmonious couple, but a household built without love is not a house, but only a building without contents. She also knew David would be happy if she filed for divorce and her husband could re-hug Sarah.
David never said it honestly, but Nia believes her husband misses Sarah very much. David always pretended to smile all this time. Having been unable to bear to see the full face of her husband's play, Nia invited David to speak that night.
“If you are unable to maintain this marriage, you can claim my divorce,” Nia said in a trembling voice to her husband who was sitting pensively while occasionally chugging soju. That night there was heavy rain, making the atmosphere feel quiet and quiet. But tension enveloped the couple who were talking in the dimly lit middle room. Nia saw the expression of the husband was so depressed, like he could not bear the burden anymore.
David turned to him, with red cheeks due to the influence of alcohol that he had drunk too much, “Why are you asking that stupid thing now?”
Nia squeezed her own hands, nervous as well as scared. “There is no reason for you to have this wedding again. If we get divorced, you can go back to Sarah.”
“Forget Sarah.,” hisses frustrated, interrupting Nia's remarks. The girl was obviously surprised. This was the first time he had heard David mention Sarah in this sombre tone. What the hell is going on?
“The girl disappeared somewhere. I heard from one of my friends he was married and had children, I don't know.” David squeezed his own hair, his eyes began to water and Nia was sure that her husband was trying to hold back his tears.
“Freely I am looking for the girl who has left me, Sarah.she left me.”
Nia's whole body was squeezed, not because of her story about Sarah, but because she saw her husband's shoulders tremble. There was no sobbing, but he saw tears streaming out from both corners of the man's eyes. In the dimness of the room where they were, Nia felt so sick seeing her husband crying silently. He was there, but could do nothing. That's the most stifling thing.
Nia's embrace helped her so much. David felt no doubt to grieve because he had a place to lean on now. Unknowingly, her hands were now tightly hugging Nia. For the first time, Nia was embraced by her husband and the happy feeling she had always felt.
“Get out all your sorrows, feel free,” whispered Nia. The corners of his lips were attracted to form a happy smile. I'm sorry I'm happy for your sadness, inner Nia.
David slowly lifted his face from Nia's shoulder. With mixed feelings he looked at the girl he had been ignoring all along. He did not expect after the many wounds he gave, this girl still had the remaining feelings to sympathize with him. Nia, she's an amazing girl and it's his wife.
“Somehow should I thank you, today you are ready to be where I lean.”
“I'm always willing to be where you lean,” between Nia. He did not want to let the happiness he just felt evaporate just like that. He held David's hands. This is a chance to have this man's heart.
“Can I ask for something else as your thanks for me?” said seriously.
“What?” David felt indebted that he would grant whatever Nia asked for this time only.
“Try learning to love me.”
