Radio Broadcast Midnight 2

Radio Broadcast Midnight 2
Episode 2

For over a month, almost every day I visited the new Radio Rebel office with Bang Win, and the others. After the cleaning and renovation process, the Radio Rebel building already looks not too messy. Rebel tea asked to install many lights in the yard as a parking lot. There is also a large neon box and security post, which is located right near the gate.

The location of the building that I initially thought was located in a quiet place, turned out to be a big mistake. By nightfall, many merchants were selling along the sidewalk. Not far from there, there are several unique concept cafes and coffee shops, which are open until late at night so that the atmosphere around is still quite crowded, with visitors who are mostly young.

The move of Radio Rebel brings its own enthusiasm to the surrounding residents. They were happy to learn that the decades-old building was vacant, eventually becoming our new office. Several times we received visits from curious listeners.

"Don't really move here. Can wash euy's eyes," exclaimed Gia looking at the situation at night.

"Inget Tomo, hey!" timpal Adu glanced at him cynically which made Gia laugh.

"Eh, but seriously. It's delicious here. It's really big enakeun," Opi Tea opened the sound.

"When long time no place?" continued Gia again who was embraced by all of us.

"Teh Nday whose son was it? In the past had a house as big as this is also rich not from among ordinary people," I asked.

"Nobody knows. Rebel tea doesn't tell much. Let me do it, the important thing is that Radio Rebel is still successful" replied Teh Opi.

We were relaxing on the left front porch that had been converted into a hangout for broadcasters and employees with large sofas and bean bags. On the right terrace, stands a glass cabinet containing several charters as well as trophies awards given to Radio Rebel.

The spacious room which is located after the entrance, on the right is used as a reception and living room to receive visits by vendors and clients. On the left is blocked as the room of the broadcasters, where there are lockers for storing personal items as well as a large whiteboard containing a daily broadcast schedule, which is also available, complete with a set of sofas to rest on and some work tables.

Of the eight large rooms in the building, six were made into broadcast studios, where the Story of the Midnight was planned to air in studio two. The rest is Bang Win workspace and non-caster employee workspace. The pavilion which has a semi-circular wall with full glass windows is used as a library and meeting room.

At the back, the terrace that has been built closed, on one side is used as a pantry, complete with all the equipment. And on the other side, it's a mushola.

Right next to the pantry, which used to be a courtyard with an open hallway, it was closed as well, and built a ablution place and two bathrooms. Next to the mushola, right opposite the ablution site, two rooms were built lined up. One for Mr. Obi, and another for a place to put musical instruments.

While the building at the end of the hallway which used to be an old bathroom and kitchen, was cut off from the main building, to be a room where the electrical center and generator storage.

"Congratulations?" bang Win asked, scrambling my hair. He was busy installing a new computer in his room. I, myself, leaned back on the sofa with eyes that started to feel heavy. The other friends came home from half an hour ago.

"Mayan" I replied slowly.

He stopped his activity to sit beside me, then hugged and leaned his head on his shoulders. "Just go home yuk?" whisper it right in the ear.

"Just get a little bit of a machine first. If you go home now, you'll be here again tomorrow. I'll take a walk tomorrow" I look back at him. My face was close enough to her and still made me flutter even though we were married for a few months.

"Yes. Wait a moment, right? Waiting for Utep to solve the electrical problem first," he said moved to return to his desk after previously rubbing my head gently.

I nodded and tried to close my eyes before deciding to buy coffee at one of the cafes near here. After saying goodbye, I headed outside and walked slowly down the paving block road leading to the gate.

The clock on the phone shows ten o'clock at night. The atmosphere in front of Radio Rebel had begun to quiet, although many traders were still selling.

"Where are you going, Neng?" greet Mr. Obi who is in the security guard post.

"You're buying a drink, sir," I replied smiling.

"Oh, yes, Neng," Obi nodded. He stood at the gate and was still there when I returned.

"Wait for what, sir? How are you standing here?" I handed him a cup of coffee.

"Waituin Neng Inoxu, afraid that someone might disturb you. The young man here sometimes likes someone to mabok," he replied that made me touched.

"Ih Mr. good really, makasi loh sir. I'm going in first, right?" pamitku who responded to the nod and thank you for the coffee.

While walking leisurely and looking towards the courtyard, the lights suddenly went out making the atmosphere pitch-black. With a makeshift illumination from the phone, I walked back slowly while looking down towards the road paving block for fear of tripping.

Duk duk duk!

A ball bounced and hit my calf. Not far from where I was standing, a boy in white clothes looked at me flatly.

"Dec? This is yours?" I pointed at the ball.

Strange things happen when I step. From where I stood to the boy was only about five meters, yet somehow, every time I walked, the distance between us seemed to be not eroded at all.

"Neng, what else?" ask Mr. Obi who is suddenly behind me.

"This, want to return the child's ball," I replied showing the ball in hand.

Obi took the ball. "Let you come back later."

I nodded in agreement.

"Yuk, Neng? Together Father. You also want to go to Dalem," he asked. Right on the porch, the lights suddenly came back on.

"Just want me to pick you up, yank," said Bang Win at the entrance.

"This, has been ushered Mr. Obi," I replied heading towards the sofa. Bang Win only smiled at the old man.

"The generator's not working, is it, son?" ask Mr. Obi.

"Not yet, Mr. Obi. The power of tomorrow must call again people to really. Won't be able to start broadcasting if the electricity problem has not been resolved," explained Bang Win.

"Yes, let's call the guy yesterday again tomorrow, huh?" reply Mr. Obi.

"Yes sir, I can. Make it before" replied Bang Win. My husband then went back inside after telling me to go to his room if he was getting sleepy. Mr. Obi himself, come sit on the sofa to accompany me for coffee.

"Neng, can you say something, okay?" ask her in a friendly voice.

"May sir, what's wrong? Who do we want gibahin for?" tanyaku.

Mr. Obi laughed at my words. "Don't want to gibahin people. Neng, mah yes. You are old and even invited to do it."

I just grinned and started drinking my coffee.

"Other times, if something is strange, don't follow it, Neng? Ignore it, go immediately," said Mr. Obi seriously.

"What do you mean, sir?"

"The rich one. When Neng wanted to return the little boy's ball earlier," replied Mr. Obi.

"What's wrong, sir? That's the salesman's kid up ahead, isn't it?"

"Where was the ball, Neng?" Instead of answering me, Mr. Obi asked.

"And the ball was held by the Father" I replied astonished because I did not see the ball in the hands of Mr. Obi.

"The ball's gone, Neng."

I frowned.

"The ball is because actually, it is not a real ball," replied Mr. Obi.

"Where-how?" I'm getting less and less understood.

"The ball is not a real ball because the boy is not a real human being either."

My breath was immediately restrained when I heard Mr. Obi's words. "The boy was indeed the son of one of the usual food vendors up ahead there. But it has been one year never again selling because of an event," explained Mr. Obi.

"The child is often taken by his parents when they sell because there is nothing to go on at home. Until one day, because he was busy playing ball, he did not realize that it had reached the middle of the road so hit by a passing motorbike and died on the spot. Since then, you have often seen his appearance, but you always ignore."

"Really, Sir?" many ensure.

"Yes, it really isn't disturbing. Just yes, sometimes like to see themselves to the people around. Next time, will you be ignored? In the future, Neng may find another similar incident. Because this building, this location, holds many events that are not all beautiful. There are sad events, some tragic, and many more."

Even though it was said calmly by Mr. Obi, his words just now made my heart beat fast.
