Radio Broadcast Midnight 2

Radio Broadcast Midnight 2
Episode 37's

"Kom, would you please make iced tea sweet dong?" I said as I threw my body on the porch sofa. Bandung air this afternoon is quite hot, making me very thirsty and suddenly imagine a big glass of cold sweet tea.

I don't actually have a broadcast schedule. However, I still came to Radio Rebel because today is the last day of work in 2022. All the broadcasters and employees were asked to come together for dinner with Rebel Tea, before the new year holiday. The broadcast itself, already recorded off the water from a few days ago, will be played on holiday, by broadcasters who alternate pickets.

"Mang Mustache does not sell, Tea. Back home, he said he wanted to know his wife," replied Kokom who made me frown.

"Your hearing aid, broken again, Kom?" I asked and looked at him.

"Ngga Tea. Since when does Mang Kumis sell rujak? Mang Mustache is a sale of cuanki," said Kokom with his innocent face.

"Astagfirefull!" seruku. Quickly, I pulled out the phone from the bag, and typed a few sentences.

"Oh, sweet iced tea? Ready it!" Kokom chuckled after reading my writing. "Yes Tea, yesterday hearing aid Kokom, not intentionally stepped on. Now brought Kang Utep. He said he wanted to be glued."

I just nodded and smiled broadly. Talking to Kokom when he couldn't hear me well proved to be emotionally charged. So I chose silence.

"Xu!" shouted someone from the courtyard, who waved at me, right after Kokom entered.

"Teh Hani!" I shouted back, then stood up and ran over to him. "That's healthy?"

"Thank God, Xu." Teh Hani smiled before hugging me tightly. We both walked to the sofa.

"So really healthy?" many ensure.

"Reply, Xu. Thank God, it's safe," she answered looking at me. "Teteh kangen all the same. Seneng can come back here. Previously, Teteh thought, Teteh will never return to normal again."

"Alhamdulillah Teh, I could see Teteh here. Yesterday, how's the story?"

"Abis—."

"Teh Hani!" from the direction of the page came the screams of Gia, and Remi. Behind them, Adul quickly followed. The three approached Teh Hani, and hugged her tightly in turn, except Adul.

"Don't hug!" forbidden Hani Tea. He pressed the back of his hand against Adul's forehead quickly. "It's salim."

The noise we caused made the other broadcasters look outside and take turns also approached Teh Hani to greet him.

"Teteh new datengnya today anyway, so will not be stamped broadcast, hunting off," said Adul. We were now just five, sitting on the porch couch, after Kokom delivered my sweet iced tea.

"Teh, continue the story," I asked after a sip of sweet iced tea.

"Yes dong, Tea. How was it yesterday?" timpal Remi's.

"Abis the incident here, Teteh every day richly squirm the shadow that always follows Teteh. Until a dream, Teteh still squirms the shadow of a tall woman." Teh Hani started telling stories.

"Si Nyai," I said softly while taking another glass of sweet iced tea.

"What, Xu?" ask Gia.

"Ngga anything. Continue, Tea," I smiled widely.

"Well, Teteh mah did not feel anything. Only, the family at home, said that the behavior of Tetuh really strange. Sometimes screaming, sometimes laughing, sometimes crying."

"Any ABG broke up?" connect Adul.

"Yee! That's your mah" replied Teh Hani who made Adul immediately hold his left chest and act in pain.

"Goupe! Because women can get it," added Hani spicy Tea. "Teteh makin ya? Well, because of the strange behavior of Teteh, Teteh was brought to the house of sodara who happened to have a boarding school. There, Teteh was driven all out to improve worship. Praying malem, dhikir, teaching, and others. It is also the same as sodara Teteh. Until finally, in one mallem, hot teteh cold and body already no energy. Towards the middle of the mallem, the more it feels. But, Teteh was forced to wake up, to pray male and dhikr prayer."

Hani tea paused for a moment, and sipped my sweet iced tea. "That time it felt like body-to-body pain, rich abis running marathons far away. Breath is also dashed, head cliengan. Complete anyway! Just, same sodara Teteh, forced dzikir until finally vomiting violently. Pas abis puking-vomiting, because of cape and lemes, Tete overslept. Dream again, but in this dream, there is a light, which shakes the shadow of the tall woman. Just sober, the body of Teteh has been very good, until now."

"Alhamdulillah," we all exclaimed compactly.

"But, did Adul actually say it? If Teh Hani is the target of Teh Ayu, make it a target?" ask Remi.

"Wallahu A'lam Bishawab. If it is accused, it is slander. There's no evidence, is there?" teh Hani asked which made us all nod. "But, Teteh doesn't see him selling anymore. Moving out?"

"Ngga tau, Tea. Never heard any more news," I said while leaning back. "Tau-tau, say it. His arms are abandoned that way, but still complete tuh equipment."

"Yes, Tea. I have never seen sales," continued Adul.

Teh Hani just nodded his head and exhaled a long breath.

Late in the afternoon, a van bearing the name of the caterer entered Radio Rebel's courtyard. The plan, all broadcasters and Radio Rebel employees will chat with Rebel Tea, regarding the achievements of the year. After that, Maghrib prayers congregated and closed with dinner together.

"Where's Rebel Teh, Kang?" kang Utep asked Kang Saija who had just finished rolling out the carpet in the meeting room. Some of us, prepare snacks and also cold drinks.

"Udah street he said mah, Tep. It was a long time ago, because pick up doctor Tama first," replied Kang Saija.

After the preparation in the meeting room is completed. We all gathered in the yard enjoying a sunny afternoon. Some play ball, and the rest chat casually. Almost at half-five in the afternoon, Teh Rebel's car entered the courtyard.

"Assalamualaikum," cried the cheerful Rebel Tea as it descended from the car. As usual, even though he only used simple clothes and seemed careless, the aura of Rebel Tea still made anyone who faced him amazed.

Like this afternoon, he wears over-size jeans with a plain black t-shirt and flannel shirt, as well as a pair of black flip-flops. Next to him, the tall, whitish-haired man, who I was expecting was doctor Tama, walked around casually with almost the same outfit. No one would have thought if both were radio owners and doctors, from the way they dressed.

"Makasi many tablets, already can be present here," said Teh Rebel after we all gathered in the meeting room. "Where is the new office? Any obstacles?"

Teh Rebel patiently heard the answer from the broadcasters who basically mentioned if the shortage of new offices, lies in the broadcast equipment, which is not as complete as in the old office.

"There are some announcements that I will make to all of them. The first, Mr. Obi next week, coinciding with the new year holiday, will depart to perform Umrah worship with his wife. So, in the meantime, there will be people who will replace him to keep an eye on him here" he continued.

"Alhamdulillah," we all said hamdalah after hearing the words of Rebel Tea. Mr. Obi himself, repeatedly guaranteed prayers that dangled from the broadcasters and Radio Rebel employees with teary eyes.

"The second. Some time ago, I had a desire to make an educational information broadcast abroad. It contains, about various information that can be useful for listeners, who want to continue their studies abroad. Starting from scholarships, university listings, living expenses, and others." Rebel Tea looked at us one by one.

"And as if together, there is a younger brother of my college friend and Nday, who is interested in starting a career in Indonesia in the field of broadcasting. In short, I made an offer, and surprisingly, my friend's sister accepted without thinking, because she said, she had already visited here. The knowledge he has is useful for educating listeners. The obstacle is only one, my friend's sister is completely blank for broadcasting issues.

Although he has no background in broadcasting, but I am sure, it can be learned over time. And I hope, later the friends here can help."

We nodded back to the words of Rebel Tea.

"Well, the last one. Because our income this year thank God is quite large, even though we have only a few months to occupy a new office, it was decided, will be given an annual bonus of one salary. I have coordinated with the finance department, please check each account. Should've come in."

We boisterously picked up each other's phones and squealed in excitement seeing the balance in the accounts already growing.

"Rebel Tea" we said back, one by one.

"I should be grateful. He joined Radio Rebel. Make up for all his hard work, and make a point to stay here. I know, this is not easy to pass, and not comparable to the bonus I give, but still, I say a lot of makasi." Rebel Tea smiled looking at us all. "Is there anything to ask?"

"Teh, who's Obi's replacement? New people, when to start work?" ask Opi Tea.

"Substitute Mr. Obi, chosen by Mr. Obi himself. If I'm not mistaken, her name is Bu Jejen. Bener sir?" ask Rebel Tea, which is carried by Mr. Obi. "I fully trust Mr. Obi, so I also release him to choose the person who will replace him for a while.

Me, Gia, Remi and Adul looked at each other with sparkling faces and gaping mouths.

"Keep with whose new man?" ask Kang Utep.

"His name is Tomoya Shinegi. For more details, can ask Gia as a producer of the Midnight Story broadcast huh?" Rebel Tea chuckles.

Again, me, Gia, Remi and Adul gap.

"Oh, this is a surprise that Tomo said, '" said Gia.

"Cie," my god made Gia smile.

"If no one wants to say, we are ready to pray magrib?" continue the Rebel Tea that made us stand up and prepare to take ablution.

After the magrib prayer, we all had dinner in the meeting room. Such a familial atmosphere, rarely found in any workplace. In accordance with the wishes of Teh Nday and Teh Rebel, who want to make their own radio with the concept of kinship and friendship.

Right after dinner, before Rebel's bidding came home with Tama's doctor, a rowdy voice sounded from the direction of the highway. We all went out, and were caught seeing a fire engulfing a field. Heran, the fire is not easily extinguished, even though some people have settled down to water it with a bucket of water.

Other traders began to look anxious because they were afraid of the fire, but the fire was just one stall that fortunately was not being used to sell.

It took almost half an hour to make sure the fire was completely extinguished. From the chatter of the traders, it turns out that the burning stall is a joint fried chicken stall belonging to Teh ayu. Not only that, some traders attribute this incident, to the event that befell Teh Ayu, where the woman fell ill and experienced sudden paralysis.

"Karma kali ya tea?" ask Adul who is standing next to me. I just shrugged and chose to go back to the meeting room with the others.

"Because there was an incident just now, I was thinking of adding a Rebel Radio crew who could take part in guarding the office at night. Because Ms. Jejen, the woman, and she must have a family, it is not ethical to ask her to stay here. For the addition of a new crew, I leave it to Bang Win. Please help, Bang?" asked Rebel Tea which made Bang Win nod.

"Then, our meeting this time I will suffice. See you next year" said Teh Rebel with a big smile. Before long, he and Tama's doctor stood up and said goodbye to all of us.

After Teh Rebel's car left the parking lot, the broadcasters and employees left Radio Rebel one by one, including Mr. Obi.

"Would you just go home, Yank?" I asked Bang Win who was standing next to his parked car. We were the last ones to leave Radio Rebel because Bang Win held the office key.

"Where are you going?" askalanya.

"Look at the street lamp, but it must be jammed?"

"That must be mah" Bang Win replied chuckling.

"Well! Want to play though," I continued again while exhaling rough breath.

"Yes, we play. I booked a room at a hotel on Braga Street. We can eat the malem again there."

"Really?" tanyaku excited with a hopeful view.

"Yes. I've brought a bag of clothes," said Bang Win who made me hit his arm slowly when he opened the car door. "I have a gift for you too."

"This what?" I was surprised when he gave me a plain paperbag, when we were already in the car.

"Open up," he said softly while throwing a look in the other direction.

My net broke when I saw the contents of the paperbag in my hand.

"This serious?" askaku.

"Yes. Said you were wearing black all the time. That's why I bought that one" Bang Win replied with a red face. He did not want to look at me at all.

I smiled intently at my new official dress, which was tiger-patterned.

"Wrau! Aing maung!" my jolt before laughing out loud, which made Bang Win even more misbehavior.
