SAVANNA
CHAPTER 11

On arrival at school, I rushed to class. I found James talking to Ashela. They look very familiar.

Naturally, they had known from childhood. The whisper came to my mind even though jealousy enveloped my heart.

Without further ado, I pulled the hand of James greeting my presence.

"What's babe?". Asked James who was confused but still followed my steps.

"Hey! Where are you going?!". Shouted Ashela then with a face that stared at me cynically.

"Please! James this is my girlfriend, it's none of your business we're going anywhere!". I reply sewot.

The whole class looked at the three of us, but I ignored it. James is also not in any way evasive with my treatment. I walked with James in my arms to the library, where we used to spend time together.

"What's the matter babe?". James asked when we were in the usual place in the same position.

"James, I love you okay?". I said then while catching his handsome face.

"I know babe, but why is it suddenly like this?". James asked in confusion.

"I don't know. I'm just afraid you're leaving, or I might fall in love with someone else". I said with the melow tone I made.

"meaning? Any other men besides me?". James asked with a shriveled face.

"BIG NO!. It's just a fear that pops up all of a sudden babe". My words are now pampered in his lap.

"It's okay babe, if that happens I'll win your heart over anyone else's man, because I know I'm the only perfect man for you". James said arrogantly.

"You sure?". Ask doubt.

"Related. And I'll never leave you". James replied, ending with a kiss that landed softly on my lips.

Again we missed the first hour of lessons by spending time in this library room full of our stories.

On the sidelines of our friendly activities, I told about the adoptive grandfather and cousin who suddenly appeared in my life. Not to forget I also told you about my father and mother who will be separated in the near future.

James is good at comforting with his sweet words as well as his gentle touch. True, he said, there is no way I can turn to another man with his perfect self.

After the first break was over, James and I decided to go back to class for the next course. In the classroom there is Ashela with a gloomy face. Seeing that, I felt joy in my heart.

"Ehem, my lips are swollen because of you babe". I said in a tone that I purposely elevated to make Ashela's heart hotter.

"Huuu~ kasmaran go on!". Speak to my classmates who hear my words.

"It's a habit! James is a bit aggressive, though". I replied to them with a shy smile.

"Babe.. By dong". James said later.

Laughter filled our classroom. Of course everyone in this room had their faces filled with smiles, except for this bully Ashela. Fuck you!.

"James, after school mom asked you to stop by the house". Ashela said in the middle of the class crowd that was teasing me and James.

"Oh yeah? Why didn't you tell me earlier that your mama told you to stop by?". James asked then with a face that turned frantic.

I, no, the whole class suddenly fell silent. The change in James' expression invited a suspicious look from every pair of eyes, no exception I who frowned at the forehead saw him.

"That's it. I'll go to the toilet first". Ashela said later amid the silence and suspicion of all of us.

"Babe?". I called James.

"I... I'll talk to Ashela". James said as he moved away from class.

Like a wound melted with an orange, that was how a sudden feeling appeared in my heart. The excitement and seductive gazes of the classmates also instantly turned into question mark gazes, some were whispering to each other while looking at me strangely. This sudden change shocked me and tried to convince myself not to cry. I'm not used to this kind of situation.

I who decided to get out of the classroom following James was suddenly confronted with the teacher standing in front of the entrance.

He's our math teacher.

I who could not make a sound finally relented and returned to my seat.

The class finally begins, with no sign of James and Ashela.

Questions came up one-on-one in my mind. Just an hour ago we took an oath of allegiance, but the next time James has made me uneasy and wondering.

What possible...?

No. gabe. No. gabe.

I tried to get rid of bad thoughts about them by focusing on the subjects that were going on. But still, this is not an easy thing for me to do.

The bell home from school finally rings. James and Ashela enter in the final subject hour. All along James was silent. I wanted to ask a lot of questions but my heart chose to be quiet. Every now and then I glanced at James sitting beside me, he looked like he was thinking about a lot of things.

What were they talking about?

After the teacher let us go home, one by one the students in this class left the room, followed by Ashela, James and me. Until now both are silent.

"James, can you stay a minute?". I finally opened the conversation.

"Vana, next time. I have business today". James took his hand out of my hand.

"Babe, what the hell are you doing. Suddenly like this?". I said as I followed James behind Ashela.

"What kind of relationship are you in?". Then I made James and Ashela stop.

James turned around and looked at me who was standing behind him. The question that I knew Ashela from the beginning was finally on my lips. A sense of heat began to appear on my face and eye fertilizers.

"Babe...".

"Ehem!". Ashela who suddenly coughed stopped James' speech.

I looked at her alternately with Ashela. My suspicions are growing. I tried to fight him, but James' silent attitude seemed to justify all the prejudices in my heart.

I waited long enough for James to give an explanation but nil. I ended up running away from the two of them, not wanting these tears to finally spill in front of the damn woman.

Arriving at the parking lot, I looked back with my eyes open, but there was no sign of James catching up with me. The atmosphere of the school is starting to fade. Only a few extracurricular students were seen.

Damnit damnit!.

A few minutes later, a black sedan passed beside me, I was astonished to see the license plate of the car I knew.

Why did James pass me?. Was he on purpose?.

My unceasing inner asking finally came to a realization when the basketball almost hit my face. Luke, the basketball captain, who was also our class president, was seen running towards me.

"You okay?". Asked luke then who was now standing in front of me.

Her body that was tall enough to make my head slightly raised to be able to see her face.

"Hey?". Reproach it again.

"Aa-Yeah!, I'm fine". Say it with a hoarse voice.

"Why are you standing here? Didn't James just pass by?". His question then made me shake my head immediately.

"I-I took a taxi online, James had a sudden business". I made up freely.

"Ooh! What's the matter, I'm taking you home?". Luke asked, which made me shake my head again.

"ah! No need to bother. I've booked a cab". Reject me while smiling badly at him.

"Ooh, yasuda. Careful home". Luke then turned to leave me while dribbling the basketball in his hand.
