Fake Princess

Fake Princess
CHAPTER 53

Devan's face paled, and his jaw was so stiff it looked like a rock. “ She kissed you? Such a bastard?”

“ I'm not sure only I got a kiss over the last few months,” I said with a made-up laid-back attitude. I don't want to talk about Jose anymore, not when I finally get back with Devan. “ When I left you were chasing Miss Ivia. I'm sure by now you've kissed him.”

Tactics worked. Devan tells a story involving a banquet, a loose dog, & the soothing hug he had to give Miss Ivia, & make us both laugh. Had some of our laughter sounded a little forced, none of us would have talked about it. Afterwards, we walked a little further without a sound, then Devan said, “ So, where are you staying?”

I was about to answer it, then realized that I myself had a story to tell. “ I work as a copyist for Paula Sovrit,” I say quietly. “ I stay at his house.”

“ Paula?” Devan sounded shocked. “ That crazy witch?”

My chest puffed up like an angry cat. “ He's not crazy! He's a master, and he's just different. Paula performs various experiments & creates new spells. He just doesn't like the campus, that's it.”

Devan raised his hand pretending to surrender. “ I'm sorry, I'm sorry! Please,” Devan said while bowing down, “ don't let me offend Miss Amelia until she attacks me with magic she no doubt learned from the great Paula.” Devan grinned at me as he looked up, but I didn't say anything. Little by little, the grin disappeared. “ What?” tanyakanya.

“ Me.... i..yah, look.” I stretched out one hand, squinting my eyes while concentrating. I could feel sweat dripping down my armpits. Please, mind. God Without a Name, don't let me fail in front of Devan. Slowly, a small spark appeared, then a bluish-white ball of light floated above my hand. I turned the gaze from my palm to Devan's face, his mouth agape.

However, Devan stared at where the light was until I finally lowered my hand. “ How did you do it?” devan asked gawking. “ You have no magic, no one in your family.” His eyes sparkle when you understand him. “ Your real family. They.... witch?”

I put my shoulders down, now I feel ashamed. “ My mother, not my father. & I guess my mother is also not a witch, only. He always travels.I don't think he studied on campus, even if he had the money or a degree to be accepted there.”

I swept my hands over my hair to slip the loose strands of hair behind my ears. “ I tried to apply to the witch's campus, but they were not willing to accept me. Paula found me there, and volunteered to teach me as part of her copycat pay. Paula said

the spell they cast so that I look like the princess must have suppressed my magic. Prevent its appearance, & the magic takes time to bring itself up after the spell is removed.”

“ However, I'm actually desperate. Paula said the magic inside me was too much, because I didn't use it early on, so it caused the magic to try to come out at the same time. Sometimes, when I'm upset I do something without the intention of doing it. Or sometimes I can't even use a trivial spell once. I guess you could say. dangerous.”.
