My Beloved Ex - wife

My Beloved Ex - wife
Chapter 11

Despite having previously refused to meet Keenan's grandmother, Zetta eventually went to visit the old woman. Together with Keenan, Zetta goes to the residence of Amy's grandmother, her ex-husband's grandmother from her father's side.

Amy's grandmother lives in a house that looks simple but beautiful and comfortable, located somewhat in the suburbs. Since getting sick, he was more comfortable living in a quiet place, away from the hustle and bustle of the city center. That is why he does not want to live with his son-in-law and grandchildren at the Keenan residence.

"Grandma, I'm coming" Zetta said after entering Amy's grandmother's room.

The old woman was sitting in a recliner facing the window. From there, Grandma Amy could see the flowers blooming in the garden yard next to her house.

"You came alone?" grandma asked Amy while turning her eyes towards Zetta.

"I came with Keenan. He's outside" said Zetta.

Amy's grandmother was silent for a moment, then nodded her head. He was quite surprised when a few days ago Keenan told me that he had divorced from Zetta. That's why Amy's grandmother asked her grandson to take Zetta to her.

"Come here, sit by Grandma here" Grandma Amy asked, pointing to her bed.

Zetta nods and obeys Grandma Amy. He approached, then sat on the edge of the bed, facing the old woman.

Silence swept the two for a moment. Amy's grandmother seemed to let out a sigh before then starting to open the conversation.

"So you're divorced?" grandma Amy asked, breaking the silence. The real question doesn't need an answer from Zetta because it's obvious.

"Yes, Grandma" said Zetta.

Once again Grandma Amy sighed deeply.

"Grandmother knows that your relationship as a husband and wife has not been so good, but what to divorce? Looks like you've done an impulsive act, Zetta. Marriage is not something that can be ended just like that even though the road is not easy" said Amy's grandmother again.

Replaced Zetta who sighed.

"I'm not doing anything impulsive, Grandma. I've been thinking about that decision carefully. This is the best path for me, as well as for Keenan" Zetta said. He spoke carefully so as not to offend Grandma Amy.

During her six-year life as Keenan's wife, Amy's grandmother was the only member of the Keenan family who accepted Zetta and treated her well. That's why Zetta finally can't refuse the request of Amy's grandmother who wants to meet her, even though she and Keenan have no relationship anymore.

"Have you thought about this in cooking?" ask Grandma Amy again.

Zetta nods.

"For six years now, I've been trying my best to get Keenan to accept me as a wife, but it's all for nothing. I had to end it all so as not to become more tormented. I want to be happy too, Grandma. And that happiness I would never have had if I had kept my marriage to Keenan."

"Didn't you love Keenan for a long time? Can you just forget how you felt all these years? Granny thinks you're gonna feel worse if you're away from Keenan."

"I've loved Keenan for a long time and it won't be easy to throw away the feelings I've been keeping up all this time, Grandma. But even though it's hard, it doesn't mean it's impossible. I've made this decision and I'm sure I will be able to live it well. Besides, I don't have any choice anymore. Separating from Keenan is the only way I have to go because Keenan also no longer wants to continue this marriage. For what to maintain a relationship that has not even been of value since the beginning. It'll only hurt us both." Zetta replied while trying to smile thinly at Grandma Amy.

For the whole time Amy's grandmother was speechless. Really, he actually could not blame Zetta for knowing that Zetta had been patient enough for Keenan's treatment of him all this time.

"Zetta, if one day Keenan realizes all his mistakes, then comes and apologizes to you, will you forgive my grandson and take him back as your husband?" ask Grandma Amy later. For some reason, the old woman's gaze looked so hopeful.

Zetta smiled again. This time while touching the back of Grandma Amy's hand gently.

"Keenan didn't like me in the first place, Grandma. And it will always be like that until anytime. I don't blame Keenan's attitude on me for all this time, because everything that's happened has contributed to my mistakes as well. I was the one who had forced myself to be his wife despite knowing Keenan did not like me in the slightest. I should have realized that from the beginning," Zetta said rather grudgingly, making Grandma Amy look at him with even more concern.

"But even so, for me Grandma is still an important person. My affection and respect for Grandma will not diminish even if I remain Grandma's daughter-in-law's granddaughter or not. For me, Grandma will remain a family at all times" Zetta added.

Grandma Amy again could only sigh. She was so full of Zetta's sincerity, but certainly couldn't do anything and had no right to keep Zetta by her grandson's side.

Meanwhile, Keenan himself seems to have been behind the door of Grandma Amy's room since. He listened to all the talk between his grandmother and ex-wife with a slightly complicated feeling. She knew that Zetta loved Grandma Amy and always treated her well despite being treated badly by other members of the Keenan family, including Keenan himself.

Actually Keenan also felt that Zetta was a good and sincere figure, before then the thought changed when Helia told him that it was Zett who had harmed her lover six years ago. There was disgust and resentment in Keenan's heart when he found out about it. However, for her grandmother's sake, she chose to hold herself back and do nothing to Zetta even though she believed Zetta was the one responsible for Helia's misfortune.

A few moments later, Zetta resigned. He didn't want to stay too close to Keenan for too long because it could ruin his mood.

"Frequently visit Grandma, Zetta. Grandma's illness has been getting worse lately. Grandma probably won't live too long anymore" Amy told Zetta.

Zetta smiled hearing that.

"Grandmother will live a long life. But of course I will try to visit often," said Zetta comforted the old woman.

Zetta then exits Amy's Grandma's residence and intends to book a taxi online. Soon Keenan caught up with her and offered to drive her home. But of course Zetta rejected it and chose to go home alone. At the same time, Theo and Alex arrive in a car to pick up Zetta.

Without a second thought, Zetta got into the car and got out of there. While Keenan was stunned for a while before then back into his grandmother's house.

"Zetta is a very nice woman, Keenan. I hope you don't regret it later in life for divorcing her" Grandma Amy told Keenan in a tone that sounded very serious.

Keenan looked at his grandmother for a moment.

"Grandmother need not worry. I will never regret it because divorce with Zetta is something I've been waiting for a long time" Keenan said firmly, albeit in the deepest corner of his heart, he's not too sure about the answer.
