Theo, the man who was waving his hand at Zetta from the car, was Zetta's childhood friend. He was a young master of a rich and distinguished family, also the sole heir of the family.
Zetta smiled at her friend, then got into the car.
"So, were you really serious about what you said to me on the phone last night?" theo asked as soon as Zetta had sat down next to him.
"yeah." Zetta answered briefly.
Theo noticed the look on Zetta's face, looking to assess the woman's sincerity.
"You're serious, Zetta? I mean, have you thought about it carefully. I'm afraid you want to do that just because you're angry," Theo said again, trying to make sure Zetta wasn't acting impulsively.
Zetta was silent for a moment. He tried to remember things that would have been regretful if he decided to leave Keenan, but it felt like there would be none. For six years, Keenan never cared for him in the least. Even when Zetta gets ill-treatment from her in-laws and sister-in-law, her husband does nothing to defend her and only Purapura doesn't know. All of Zetta's sacrifice and devotion have been completely unappreciated, so why should she endure any longer?
"i'm serious. It never felt like I was this conscious and serious before. Instead I regret a little why I only now have the courage to end all this," Zetta said later with confidence.
Theo saw solemnity in Zetta's eyes. The woman was not sulking or wanted to act to seek the attention of her husband alone, but really wanted to end her marriage with a determination that was already unanimous. Unknowingly Theo heaved a sigh of relief because finally his friend realized and decided to end the suffering he had been through all this time.
A faint smile flashed on Theo's lips despite just a glance. The man then pulled out a file and thrust it at Zetta.
"What's this?" ask Zetta.
"This is a divorce agreement. Sign immediately, then ask for Keenan's signature as well. After that, your divorce will be processed immediately," replied Theo.
"I'll make sure you get proper compensation for what you've sacrificed during Keenan's life." Theo re-added when Zetta received the file.
"I don't want any compensation.” Zetta refused firmly.
"You deserve it, Zetta."
Zetta sighed for a moment, then smiled bitterly at Theo.
"From the beginning of my marriage to Keenan, I just wanted to get his love and affection. I never wanted his treasure. To me, all of that means nothing at all. Now I really just want to get divorced and move on with my life in peace. I don't need a dime of Keenan's money" he said firmly.
Theo looked at his friend softly. Of course he knows that Zetta is a sincere person. The man just thought, what's wrong with Zetta getting divorced by getting the compensation he deserves because indeed he deserves to get it. But if Zetta really doesn't want him for his pride, Theo will.
"All right," murmured Theo. He decided to fully support Zetta's decision without debating it again.
Zetta checked the divorce papers in her hand for a glimpse, then asked Theo for a pen and signed them right away. The movement of his hands looks firm and full of confidence, hinting if his determination to divorce from Keenan is really round.
"Now please take me to the hospital. I have to give Keenan this divorce agreement right away" Zetta said later.
Theo nodded, then started his car engine. A little while later, they rushed to the hospital where Keenan is currently with Helia.
"Do you want me to be with you?" theo asked as they had reached the intended hospital courtyard.
Theo nods, helping to unlock the seatbelt for Zetta.
Zetta got out of the car and went straight into the hospital building. It took him a while before he finally found the room where Helia was currently being cared for.
Without further ado, Zetta entered the room and found Keenan taking care of Helia gently and attentively, things the man never did to Zetta even though his wife was ill.
Helia and Keenan are shocked by Zetta's arrival. Keenan even immediately rose and confronted Helia's body so that it could not be reached by Zetta. Of course he did it because he thought Zetta's arrival was to hurt Helia.
Seeing that, Zetta smiled ironically. His heart really felt sore knowing how bad Keenan looked at him right now. Emotionally, Zetta throws the divorce papers she brought to Keenan to his surprise.
"Sign now" Zetta said in a cold tone.
Keenan seemed to link his eyebrows together full of question marks.
"That's the divorce agreement I signed. Now you are the one who signed, then we will have nothing to do anymore" Zetta said again in the same tone as before.
"What?" Keenan could not hide his growing surprise at the word divorce coming out of Zetta's mouth. He also seemed somewhat emotional.
"Keenan, relax ...." Someone said softly from behind the man. Who else if not Helia.
Keenan turned to Helia at a glance, then looked back at Zetta who seemed to be waiting.
"We'll talk about this next time, Zetta. Now go back first" Keenan said later.
Zetta folded both her hands on her chest.
"There's no need for any conversation. You just have to sign the agreement, then our business is done. Why do I have to buy time?"
Keenan was surprised at Zetta's attitude.
"Why? It's not like last night you asked me to leave, so we better get divorced soon, right? Or maybe, actually now you're in love with me, so you don't want a divorce?" ask Zetta while smiling cynically.
"What did you say?" Keenan's emotions are getting lured.
Helia who was behind Keenan directly advanced and pulled the man's arm gently. Zetta could hear the woman persuading Keenan to do what Zetta wants in a soft voice.
Of course Zetta was getting cynical looking at those two people. Now she realized Helia's true face. Women who look weak and delicate, but are actually cunning and very manipulative. Just look, even Keenan finally agreed to sign the divorce papers that Zetta threw at him after Helia persuaded him.
"Thank you for your cooperation" Zetta said after Keenan signed the divorce papers. He took the file and left Helia's treatment room without looking back.
In the corridor of the hospital, when Keenan and Helia did not see him again, Zetta's countenance turned mellow. He did not pretend to be strong anymore and could not hold back his tears that spilled just like that. Zetta has no regrets about this decision. However, he is also only a human being who cannot withstand pain.
Six years Zetta was Keenan's wife and two years earlier she had fallen in love with him. For eight years his heart was fixed on Keenan alone, and everything now ended just like that, as if his feelings for so many years were nothing at all.
