The Elemental Sword Demon King
Episode 180: A Promise

POV: Kirigaya Kaizo

Ever since the teenager decided himself to kill the dark spirit girl who sent his heart into a tremendous mess, he began to grow and develop at an incredible speed.

Even the elders who decided to bring them together did not anticipate this. At this point, even among rank elementalists who were also training in the Instructional School, few could match him in battle.

"You can't kill me."

"I'll. Someday, I'll do it."

Throughout a deathmatch training session that lasts several hours at a time. Somehow this exchange became their standard slogan. After every deathmatch, the boy would long chat with her.

The dark spirit girl told all sorts of things about the world to the boy she had never known. Like grief, likes, and various beautiful things that fill the world.

Then every night before the boy went to sleep, the girl would gently tell him a bedtime story by his side. To an observer, this is an amazing relationship.

"And then, the king sealed the lamp spirit once again..."

"Then what happened?" Placing his head on the girl's lap, the disgruntled boy looked for a continuation of the story. Because he always stops at the most interesting places.

"Let's continue with the next part tomorrow." Gently stroking the black hair of the boy, the girl smiled. Clearly that fingertip had fired a merciless magical attack at the boy just a moment ago.

"Tell me now. Who knows I'll be alive tomorrow."

"Ah right, tomorrow is a mission to destroy the great temple."

A twelve-year-old boy had already started the mission assigned by the Instructional School.

"The person responsible for the destruction is Mia. Lina and my duties will cover up and help her. Inside the Great Shrine, there were reportedly eight elite spirit knights as guards."

"Are you going to survive?"

"Who knows. I'm a tool, I just have to follow orders and complete missions."

"But if you die, you won't be able to listen to the continuation of the story."

The boy suddenly opened his closed eyes, "It's a bother."

"Even if it's just to listen to the next story, please come back alive."

"Yes, that's right. I see," the boy nodded honestly. "Also, don't forget our promise."

"Promise?"

"I'll kill you."

"Fufuu, of course."

(It's not the fear of death. But I have to survive. For my promise to him!)

"Eh, hmm..." Feeling the back of his head leaning against something soft and comfortable, Kaizo woke up. Opening his eyes, he found the face of a cute girl.

He involuntarily muttered, "Karmila!?"

"You have to keep lying down." Saying that, Karmila pressed Kaizo's head violently against his thigh.

Sensing her delicate soft skin on her cheeks, Kaizo could not stop her racing heart. There was no other way, Kaizo had no choice but to continue lying down like this.

The sky was still dim, and the night was just over.

(Lap cushion, what a nostalgia. I used to sleep on his lap.).

Keeping his eyes open, he stared blankly at the dark sky that was slowly turning into light as the morning sun was about to rise.

"Can't you sleep?"

"Yes. I have a body type that can do it without sleep."

"Really, it's the same as me."

"Carmilla too?"

"Because that's how I'm trained."

Kaizo can only moan, (True, it's the same as me, he was raised as a tool. Isn't that identical to what those Instructional School guys do.)

He felt very angry towards the knights of the Rossvale Kingdom who raised Karmila. Moreover, she had no one in her life like Alicia who was with Kaizo.

He slowly rose from Karmila's thigh and handed her two magic stones, "This is yours."

This was apparently the magic stone of the two Sacred Spirit Knight members. Kaizo took one and left the other in Karmila's hands.

"This is for Rupture Division. Didn't we agree to divide the magic stone fairly?"

Karmila shook her head, "You beat them, Kaizo."

"We are allies."

Forcing Karmila to hold the magic stone properly, Kaizo stood up. For a moment, Karmila stared at the magic stone in her hand. Finally, he slightly nodded and placed it in his uniform pocket.

"Kaizo?"

"Hmm?"

Karmila looked at Kaizo. Blue right eye and yellow left eye, the Herochromia eye looked at Kaizo sharply and asked, "My eyes, you won't ask about that?"

"The eye?"

(In hindsight, those Sacred Spirit Knights said something about Karmila's eyes.)

"You want me to ask?" Kaizo asked back and she sighed, "Karmila, if you want to tell me, let me know when the time comes," shrugging her shoulders.

Right at this moment, from above their heads, the sound of the flapping of feathery wings could be heard.

"What?"

The two turned their gazes towards the sky to find a demonic bird circling in the air above with its huge wings spread out.

"That's, Aimorphy Eve!"

It was far in the distance, but Kaizo was convinced. It was a demonic wind spirit bound to Eve.

"You recognize her?"

"Yes. Look, my friends are looking for me."

Immediately after, the demon wind spirit slowly landed before Kaizo and Karmila. He asked directly at the demonic bird that folded its wings, "Is Victoria okay?"

Aimorphy nodded while humming softly.

(Looks like he's okay.)

"Really, I'm glad to know that." Kaizo breathed a sigh of relief.

"Go and tell everyone that I'm okay. I'll be right back."

While crying, Aimorphy flew into the clear sky.

"Come, Karmila. Time to go."

The two hurriedly gathered their camping equipment.

(Victoria, that girl, she must be angry.)

POV: The Victoria Blade

Victoria was lying on the bed under the blanket. His body was curled up like a ball. He still has residual fever.

"Kaizo's..." Gently muttering her name somehow the number of times, Victoria tightly gripped one side of the blanket.

Unknowingly, he glanced towards the small mirror beside the bed and muttered, "What a tragic-looking face."

Her proud hair was messy, her eyes were red from crying all night.

"Obviously since I lost my sister, I promised myself I'd never cry again."

On a small table, there was breakfast covered in a piece of cloth. Maybe it was brought by Aura, but surely Victoria is not having an appetite right now.

(Kaizo, without you by my side, me, what's with this pain in my chest? Lonely? No, even though that's part of the reason, there's more. I've done so many bad things to that man in the past.)

Victoria pondered all that she had done to date. Whenever Kaizo has sex with another girl, she always feels angry for no particular reason, cannot accept, wants to whip her, and burns her to charcoal.
