The Estuary of Desire Baruna

The Estuary of Desire Baruna
Eps. #55 Suspicious

The red hotshot looks so fierce all that is there. The fire grew very fast because of the strong wind at that time. The workshop that contained more was flammable items and even the trigger of the fire was easily charred and destroyed by it.

Firefighters and some residents whose businesses or residences were close to the fire site were seen busy in the fighting. People looked panicked and the atmosphere there became very tense.

The sound of siren roars from fire trucks was heard echoing across the scene. The fire trucks were switched to the place where the fire broke out.

After walking briskly and even half running, Baruna and Ardila had now reached there. They were astonished when they saw the flames had succeeded in burning everything in front of them.

"Oh, God, I hope there are no fatalities from this fire." Ardila prayed in her heart.

Somehow, suddenly there was a worry that filled his mind.

"Hopefully Alfin was not a victim of the fire. I don't understand, why am I thinking about him and worrying about the safety of his soul?" ardila's mind is full of turmoil.

"Brothers, please step away from this location immediately! Please cooperate so that we officers can work as soon as possible to put out the fire!"

The warning call from the firefighters was heard loudly through a toa, to remind residents not to crowd there because it would hamper the efforts of the outage.

"How is this, Una?" Ardila was unable to hide her anxiety.

"We'll find out if there are any victims trapped in the fire, brother!"

Baruna and Ardila then ventured closer to one of the firefighters there.

"Are there any casualties in this incident, sir?" Baruna asked politely to the officer.

"Know we don't, Mas. The workshop was empty at the time of the fire" said the officer who started rolling the fire hose because the water tank in his car was empty and would prepare to fill it again.

"Out empty?" Baruna furrowed her brows.

"Yes, Mas. Luckily it was Friday, they were closed at two in the afternoon. So it is certain that no one was inside the workshop when the fire broke out. But that's still our only estimate. We are still investigating and seeking an immediate blackout" the officer said.

Baruna nodded, she just remembered that the workshop was usually open only half a day before the weekend.

Ardila sighed deeply, her heart slightly relieved after hearing the attendant's explanation. "Surely Om Alfin and Diaz survived, because they were not in the workshop," his bath was pleased.

"But is the workshop owner here, sir?" Baruna asked again.

"Last noon came home, but after a fire, the workshop owner was not here anymore, Mas. The police are also calling him."

Baruna and Ardila stared at each other at the firefighter's description.

"It's weird, brother. The workshop was hit by a fire, but Diaz couldn't be reached." Baruna whispered to her sister.

"Yes, Una." Ardila just nodded.

The two then walked away from the scene of the fire, as officers forbade them from approaching. Their position was quite close to that workshop and it was definitely very dangerous.

Minutes later, Baruna and Ardila remained silent at the site, among the people who were also still crowded there.

"I think something's weird, brother. The workshop's on fire, but Diaz's not here. I suspected something was going on," Baruna followed his premonition.

"Sister has the same suspicion, Una. I'm afraid this has something to do with Daniel. Yesterday when Diaz helped Brother, Daniel seemed very angry with him." Ardila also revealed her suspicions.

"How about we go to his house and find out, brother?"

"Yes, Brother agrees, Una."

Baruna and Ardila then walked back to where they parked their car.

Armed with an address that Ardila had bagged earlier, the, Baruna turned the steering wheel of her car and followed the directions map in her mobile phone app to Diaz's home address which otherwise would have been stuck they would have taken about thirty minutes from the fire.

.

"Are you sure this is Diaz's house? Is the address and map in the application appropriate?" baruna asked when the notification on the map pointed them to stop in front of a white house with a European colonial design visible from the front.

"It's not wrong, Una. Brother remembered it was Diaz's car!" Ardila pointed to a black Medium MPV, which was parked in the front yard of the house. Ardila knew that it was the car that Diaz used every day from long ago, even from when they had been in a relationship.

"But why does this house look so deserted?" Baruna circulated her vision sweeping through all corners of the house. Even though the night was approaching and the atmosphere was getting darker, but not a single lamp was seen lit there.

Not wanting curiosity to fill their minds, Ardila and Baruna got out of their car and approached the main gate of the house. Several times Baruna pressed the bell on the side of the gate, but there was no answer and no one was seen there.

"This house is empty, brother!" Baruna stopped her activity by pressing the bell, as there was no sign of anyone coming to open it.

"We'll just go home, brother. There's no one in this house. We'll find out about Om Alfin somewhere else," Baruna asked as she turned from the door of the house and was about to return to her car.

"Yes, Una." Ardila followed her sister.

A praaangg!

Having not had time to move his legs, Baruna and Ardila were both shocked. There was the sound of an object falling from inside the house. From the shrillness of his voice, it was like there was a broken object falling on the floor.

"Una, that voice came from inside this house!" ardila stopped Baruna's steps.

"Really, Brother. I suspect something is wrong in this house!" timpal Baruna's.

"We have to go in and check it out, brother!"

Baruna came back to the gate.

"This door is locked, Una. How do we get in?"

"We're climbing, brother. This door is not too high."

Ardila inhaled the air slowly while rubbing her chest and momentarily noticed her appearance. At that time he was wearing long leggings with casual shirts and sneakers. Ardila smiled, with her clothes on, she would be so free to move that she was sure she could climb up the door following Baruna's invitation.

"Come, Una!"

Ardila then looked for an opening for his footing to climb the fence. Aided by Baruna, he was easily able to get through it.

Baruna also followed him to climb the fence and both are now in the yard of the house is quite spacious.

At the front door of the house, Baruna and Ardila fell silent again, and they found no sign of anyone in the house. Despite knocking on the door many times, there was still no answer from within.

"Squeaky. A house this big is so quiet. There is no servant or watchman who hears us!" Baruna again circulated her gaze through all the areas in the house.

Praakk!

"What's that sound, Una?"

The sound of falling objects was again heard from inside the house which made Ardila and Baruna aghast at the same time.

Baruna narrowed her eyes and stuck her ear to the door, trying to figure out what was going on inside.

Baruna held her breath and sharpened her hearing. Faintly from inside one of the rooms in the house was heard screaming for help. But his voice sounded raucous, like the voice of someone whose mouth was covered in an object.

"There's a suspicious voice in there, brother!" pekik Baruna told her what she heard to her brother.
