Bebegigs
Chapter 5's

"Geeh!" Orange squealing. He tried to increase speed, but the road was so slippery. He almost lost his balance.

It seems to be trapped inside a glass ball that can create snowfall if the ball is shaken.

He staggered down the road. The drizzling grains pummeled him from all directions. The entire mountain slope was as if it was shaking and swaying.

Ow hell! Where's the aspal road? think Orange panics.

He lost his way as the rain started to drizzle. While each step of his boots were immersed in a deep mud pit.

But he kept running. Down...

The white wolf's footsteps grew closer.

Orange looks back. The ferocious beast had already almost managed to chase after him. His steps rhymed. Easily jump mud puddles over loose soil surfaces and rocks that block them.

Orange does not see slippery rocks poking on the side of the road.

And his feet tripped over rocks.

"Ohhh!" he shouted as the pain spread throughout his legs. This time he lost his balance.

The orange falls forward.

And hit hard.

His mouth gasped to catch his breath.

The mist of the girl tried to get up. But late. Helplessly he saw the white wolf charging towards him.

Unexpectedly Orange, the wolf paused a few steps before him.

The beast lowered its head and looked at Orange, its breath panting.

The orange saw his chest expand and deflate behind his thick white fur. A few grains of rain water seemed to melt on his tongue.

The orange looked at him with fear. Slowly the ground stood up. He rubbed his hair and brushed off the raindrops attached to the front of his coat.

Did the wolf just stop for a moment to catch its breath?

Will he attack me as soon as I try to run?

Orange makes a huff.

"Go home" he whispered.

His voice was almost inaudible amidst the roaring wind.

The white wolf kept looking at him.

The orange stepped back. He did not dare to take his eyes off the wolf.

Orange take a step back. Then another step.

The wolf noticed, but did not move.

The orange finally reached the asphalt road. Yup! I managed to find his way, he exclaimed happily in his heart.

The orange keeps retreating regularly.

The wolf held its head. Tails down. Stretch his back.

The beast watched over the orange with its brown eyes. His eyes shone like human eyes.

What the hell is he thinking?

Why is he chasing me?

Is it to make sure I actually go down the mountain?

And not climb to the top?

Was the wolf assigned the strange man earlier to escort me all the way down?

The orange wondered in his heart.

The girl took a step back. Then another step.

The wolf did not move.

The road filled with mud puddles turned and reached the boundary of the asphalt road.

"Whoops!" The orange breathed a sigh of relief. Then turned. And walked quickly to the village, to his new home.

Every few seconds, orange looks back. But the wolf did not follow him.

The rain has grown heavier. The orange pulled the hood of his coat to cover his head. He held it with both hands, and went back down the street.

His mother must be confused because the girl has not returned yet. The orange had indeed gone far, much longer than he had planned.

Low clouds block the sun. The sky was almost pitch-black.

The orange passes through the houses on both sides of the road. Some houses have turned on the lights. In one of the houses he saw fire dancing in the fireplace. Black smoke seemed to billow from the kitchen window wire of each house.

The orange passed by a strange scarecrow with a scar on its face. His two arms made of tree branches shook from being blown by the wind. At first glance the scarecrow was like waving at the girl.

The orange started running.

Another one of the same scarecrows greeted the orange as the girl passed the next corner.

I hate this village! he said in his heart. This place is too freak! Freak! I won't stay here. Why did Mama bring me here?

The girl's daydream was scattered by a thumping sound that suddenly sounded behind her.

I'm stalked! think Orange.

The wolf?

Nope. Another sound of steps.

This is the sound of human steps, Orange concluded.

The crazy bearded man just now-he's tailing me!

"Ohhh!" The orange groans with fear. He took a deep breath, then turned to face her.

"Organ-hi-hi!"

The strangling orange was restrained and saw Magenta standing across the street.

The man crossed over and approached the orange. His black hair was full of rain. "You just passed our house" he said, pointing to his yard. "Don't you see I'm the same god?"

The orange looked past Magenta's shoulders, and saw the Gods waving at him from in front of their house.

"No. I. um, the rain's starting to drop, so... " Orang stammering.

"You're all right, right?" ask Magenta.

"Ehm..." The orange hesitated to answer. "I was chased by a white wolf, " said the girl at last. "There's a crazy man. He lives on the top of the mountain. I chased the lone wolf and he..."

"Have you met Empu Brajasena?" exciting Magenta.

"Huh? An empu?" The wind blew the cloak of the orange coat off his head. He looked at Magenta while squinting his eyes. "So, that guy's some kind of psychic?"

Magenta. "She lives in the cottage she built herself. He's got a pet white wolf named Gardapati. Actually I was gonna give you a warning, but..."

"Warnings?" Orange interrupts Magenta.

"yeah. I just want to tell you, you better get out of that house. Empu Brajasena is equally wolf, they are equally strange."

"It's not weird anymore!" Orange muttered while shaking his head. "So that's why you're the same God never climbed to the top of the mountain?"

Magenta lowered his head. "Ehm.it's just one of them."

The orange waited for Magenta to continue his explanation.

But the guy just kept quiet. He continued to stare at the sprinkling of yellow flowers and the dried leaves that lay below.

The god watched them while slipping both hands into the pocket of the coat.

"So, why did that Empu Brajasena live in such a remote place away from other people?" The orange urges Magenta.

The guy looks hesitant. Nervously he turned to his brother. "Nobody knows for sure" he finally replied. "He's.he's probably the scarecrow's man. I mean.." he was silent.

"Huh?" exciting Orange. He was sure he had heard wrong. "What did you say, Magenta? He's the scarecrow guy? What's that supposed?"

Magenta did not answer. Again, he glanced towards the Gods.

"Come dong, Magenta. What's that supposed?" Orange urges the guy. "What does he mean, he's the man's man's man in the rice field?"

Magenta took a step back and brushed off the grains of rain that stuck to his hair. "I have to go in" he said. "It's almost dinner time."
