Reza stood beside her papa, as her hands continued to gently rub her back. The middle-aged man looked so devastated at the oma's condition, and repeatedly expressed his regret.
Galuh chose to pull over sitting alone on the sofa, letting the father and son talk together. Occasionally there was a sobbing sound of papa, then followed by soft soothing words from Reza's lips.
“What does the doctor say?” ask papa, while continuing to hold the hand of the oma lying with her eyes closed tightly on the hospital bed.
Oma breath goes up regularly, no longer as fast as before. His lips were like he was smiling, making the eyes that looked overwhelmed with a sense of immeasurable haru.
“You see, oma smiled at us.” Papa said while peeping his hand in his hand.
Half-dead Reza refrained from staying strong standing beside papa, trying hard not to cry nearby even though tears had pooled in the eyes.
“Doctors are making the best efforts for the healing process of oma, it's just that the condition of his body is weak plus the age factor becomes an obstacle. Doctors are worried, the oma will not be as easy as it heals as we expected.” Reza said the true condition of the oma.
“That means, the condition is indeed very serious?”
Reza sighed, rubbed his shoulders back and replied in a hoarse voice. “Yes, oma condition is indeed very serious.”
“Ya, Lord.” Papa's shoulders were shaken violently, and the man cried like a child. Papa released his handrails, and covered his teary face.
“False father, Papa should obey what your father said and go home in the afternoon. Papa is more concerned with meeting with clients than listening to oma speech. Papa didn't know that you weren't feeling well that morning, and still forced yourself to come home with Papa.” Reveal my father with regret.
“Do not continue to blame yourself papa, everything has happened. Now we can only hope and continue to pray that oma can survive and come back to us again.” Reza tried to calm papa, although he himself was not sure would be able to do it because papa was so soluble in his sadness and regret.
“If something bad happens to your mom, Papa will never be able to forgive himself. Papa will come with him,” said papa in a soft voice. The man lowered his hand, then grabbed the weak hand of oma and stuck it on his cheek.
Reza gasped at her papa's words, her chest suddenly tightened. The ugly shadow of losing loved ones just flashed before his eyes. What will happen with their next life, what about Galuh and the child in her womb if she is not strong to face the loss that suddenly appears and haunts her mind.
“Papa do not talk like that, oma will definitely heal.” Reza said he was squatting next to his papa and papa just shook his head.
Throughout the day they spent in the room in the hospital oma, papa even refused to go and go from there even to eat though and continue to survive on the side of the oma.
Reza is overwhelmed by persuading papa, the man insists on his wishes and rejects whatever Reza has to offer him.
“How can I eat quietly while my mother is lying weakly before my eyes?” Reject papa, when the nurse helps try to persuade him to eat for the sake of his own recovery.
“We understand very well, what Mr is feeling at this time.” The nurse smiled understandably, “But, you also have to think about your own health. Didn't you not want to when Mother Master woke up, then saw Master in a sick and weak state. Surely Mr.'s mother will be very sad to see a Master like this.”
But the man shook his head, and refused to eat and left until the mother woke up from her sleep. No one can force him. Until the middle of the day, papa did not want to move from his place.
Galuh was silent for quite a while, he could feel what papa was feeling. He also had difficulty swallowing his food, although his stomach was hungry and rebellious to ask to be filled. His throat felt choked.
He could not feel his tears dripping down his cheeks, as he stared at the heartwarming scene before his eyes. Papa sat in a wheelchair and spread his head near the head of the oma, muttering as if he was talking.
Reza eventually asked the hospital to allow his papa to be treated in a room with the oma. Through various considerations in addition to seeing the condition of the oma that must continue to get supervision from the family, the hospital approved Reza's wishes.
“Now Papa can keep close to oma. Papa eat, yes.” Reza again persuaded papa to eat, but still papa refused him and insisted on his desire.
Papa's body looks weakened, his face is very pale. Papa continued to refuse to eat until he saw the oma woke up from his sleep. No one knew what was going on in his heart at the time. His eyes were empty and he kept on his head on the oma bed next to him.
“Abang, what should we do?” galuh's voice broke into a cry seeing the condition of the two people he loved, he could not cover his sadness.
“I don't know how papa can turn hard like that.” Reza pulled Galuh in his arms, buried the face in his chest. Anxious look was evident on his face, and Reza could only sigh heavily.
“All will surely be fine, dear.” Reza shrieked Galuh's head, his arms clenched firmly and his lips kept whispering soft words of hope.
Galuh kept her face away from Reza's embrace, she grabbed her husband's hand and placed it on her flat stomach. “ Maybe you want to eat after knowing the news of my pregnancy,” he said expectantly.
Reza nodded, maybe. He grabbed every strand of hope, and accompanied Galuh to walk up to papa and sit beside him.
Galuh sighed before starting to talk to papa, the man slept sideways and continued to stare towards oma.
“Papa, Galuh has good news for Papa.” Galuh grabbed papa's hand and carried it to his stomach. “Pregnant, Pa. It's been two months, and Papa will soon have a grandson.”
Slowly the pupils twitched, and the head of the papa turned to him. The hand that was in Galuh's grasp was shaking, papa's lips were whispering violently. “I'm sorry, Papa. Papa is guilty of you all.”
“Papa.” Galuh shook his head strongly. “No one will blame Papa, all already his will.”
“Cause of Papa, oma so like this.”
Galuh couldn't stand it, he hugged papa. Reza standing nearby continued to wipe his papa's arm.
“Mahen .. my son.” There was a loud voice that shocked everyone. Reza immediately turned and faded into an oma that had awakened from her long slumber.
“Oma.” Reza's stifled voice, unable to hold back her sense of smell. From that moment he held back his tears, now his tears were spilling near the cheeks of the oma.
Galuh let go of his embrace, papa immediately got up and sat up straight on the bed. His eyeballs shone again, he got off his bed and walked closer to the oma bed.
“Mother,” whispers still half in disbelief. Smiling oma looked at him. Papa cried, and did not stop giving thanks.
The doctor came back to check the condition of the oma, he smiled peering at Reza. “We will continue to monitor the health of the patient, at this time his condition is still not stable.”
“Thank you, Doctor.”
An hour later the oma returned to sleep, and papa kept his promise. He ate with galuh, Galuh until crying made.
That night they stayed in the hospital, while continuing to monitor the condition of the oma. Papa started to look stronger and wanted to get out of his bed.
The next day Galuh woke up to the sound of moans held back from the oma, seeing Reza still asleep on the floor with a bed of hospital blankets. He jumped off the sofa and immediately approached the oma bed.
“Abang, Papa!” exclaim Galuh called Reza and papa who were in the bathroom.
Reza flinched from her sleep, waking up suddenly with a staggered body walking closer to the oma bed.
The eyes of the oma open slowly. One long breath of oma, and his head fell drooping.
“Oma, Oma wake up Oma!” Reza brought her face closer to the oma's nose, and checked her pulse. Panicked, he pressed a button on top of the oma head.
“Oma.” Galuh raised both hands to her pale lips.
“Mother!” the voice of papa's screams rang out, he was already near them as soon as he heard Reza's cry calling the name oma.
The doctor and several nurses came immediately, checking directly for the state of the oma. Shortly thereafter the doctor covered the body of the oma with a blanket until she was over her head, then with a quivering voice began to announce the date and time of the death of the oma.
“Mother!” papa's crying voice made Galuh aware that oma had really left them all.
