As soon as Rey closed the bedroom door, her phone shook. There's a message coming in, from Jason wanting to know how his mother's condition is.
'He's fine, he's sleeping.' Reply Rey while walking back to the living room. Jason initially wanted to join, but there was group work to be done. Rey said she could stop by after that.
What will I do until Kikan wakes up? thought rey. Kikan doesn't have a TV, the stuff in his house isn't much. That is what is noticed when surrounding the place, there is one bedroom on the far side in the living room, which is filled with similar broken furniture that fills the entire trailer. Ray finds a row of drawers that have been curved, a bed placed on bricks and some homemade bookshelves. All the furniture seemed to be taken from the junkyard, but everything was clean. The entire trailer is clean. Rey can smell the floor cleaner from whatever cleaner Kikan used to scrub the place.
In the kitchen, Rey sees the groceries she bought with Devan at that time, aside from the items she had bought no other items in sight. When Rey opened the fridge she realized it was almost empty there was an apple on one of the shelves. It is easy to guess what Kikan ate to survive. How Kikan was able to obtain the power to clear this place in such a short period of time, as he had already done, was truly a mystery.
Everywhere there is evidence of his activities, for example he is in the process of removing the old wall coating paper in the living room. But Kikan didn't even have the tools to take it off. Rey shook her head imagining how tedious and exhausting the process was, but Kikan managed to make progress with a determination as strong as steel. He used to work with what he had, Rey thought, and it reminded him of Kikan's bike so he called his friend Nanda.
Nanda answered her phone with the question "how are you?" Rey immediately tells Nanda her wish.
"What kind of old bike?"
Nanda sells a lot of high-quality mountain bikes, so he suspects Rey will be able to name the model. "The bike is decades old, and it takes two new wheels, maybe a lot of other improvements."
"Bro, what would you do with such obsolete stuff if I had a bike shop? come I'll prepare a bike that fits you at the price of a friend."
"It wasn't really my bike"
"Whose hand?"
Rey stood by the window and looked at the pitiful courtyard. "Punches of Kikan."
There's a pause. "I can help him, too, if you want."
"He had no money, but he needed a vehicle to get to and fro."
"so." There was a moment of silence. "By the way things are, when we got together at the cafe on Friday. You're not too happy he's back in town."
"I don't mind." Said Rey, feeling guilty for hounding Kikan's return.
"really?"
"Yes." Yeah."
" Does that mean he has no horns on his head"
Despite the annoyance that Rey did not want to discuss the matter now, and although Kikan did not seem completely awake when he tried to wake her up, there was always the possibility that she could hear the conversation unintentionally.
"I'm happy." Said Nanda. "That makes things easier for Jason"
"Agreed."
" When are you planning to bring the bike?"
"Tomorrow how?"
"Tomorrow is fine too. We open at 10:00 but if you have to go to work earlier than that, just leave it on my porch I'll take it to the store when you leave."
Rey turned her back on the pile of rubble she could see from the window, a completely unfit place to grow up. "I'll do. When can you fix it?"
"I'm a little busy right now, but don't worry, because you know the shopkeeper."
Rey smiled at Nanda's joking tone. "It's nice to have a reliable friend, thank you."
"Either. If I ever need help fixing the house, I hope to get the same treatment." Nanda said as she joked, "See you tomorrow"
Rey breathed when she hung up the phone. Then it dawned on him not to be silent in boredom. A lot of tools in his car, he can finish the job of removing these wall cladding.
The wall cladding was finally clean within an hour, but Kikan was still not awake, therefore Rey started looking for other activities. He fixed the hinges in some of the cupboards so that they could be perfectly closed, and fixed the leak under the sink. Rey was looking for another small repair activity, when she opened the door in the hallway, to find Kikan's workspace.
"What the fuck?" He murmured, though it was clear. The bracelet Kikan gave Jason! Kikan made it himself. Apparently Kikan made many bracelets, there are several different types, some bracelets with carved wood or silver beads, some more specially made that hang nailed on the table. Then there was a pile of packages, all were given addresses and ready to be sent, near the wall some distance away.there was a shelf in the form of a long board on which there was a row of seals, hole makers, and, and scissors for the skin.other peacocks he saw several bowls containing metal trinkets, fastening tools and beads. This whole room smells like cut skin.
Kikan never mentioned that he was running a business. Why did he keep it a secret?
Rey didn't understand, but seeing this little bracelet factory inevitably made her smile. What Kikan had achieved was impressive, given everything he had faced.
Rey wonders where Kikan is selling it, suddenly the door slams shut, loud enough to shake the entire trailer, apparently Kikan is awake. Rey got out of that workspace.
