My Heart Was Wounded Deep
Chapter 79's

It was dark when Kikan got home, but his mother must have been waiting for him to come home. As soon as Rey cornered into the yard and Kikan got out of the car, his mother's dog ran off the porch while Ms Lis hid behind the door as usual.

" Home home at last?" exclaimed bu Lis through that five-centimeter-wide gap.

Kikan tried to smile and wave. "Well." yeah."

"You happy?" ask Lis's mother.

" The show is.pleasing," answered Kikan.

Rey came down from the car, and glanced at Ms. Lis but said nothing.

" It looks like you got what you wanted Mr. Stinson" Lis's mother told Rey.

The muscles in Rey's cheek twitch. He knew Ms Lis wasn't being friendly to him, but he replied with a polite reply. "I'm glad he's coming."

" Surely," Lis replied with a small laugh.

" So that means you're satisfied? your goal has been accomplished, and we won't hear from you again?"

Kikan turned to the front of the pickup and grabbed Rey's arm as the man began to step towards where Miss Lis was. "Just ignore him" he muttered, but Rey did not want to. He jerked his hand out of Kikan's grasp and moved towards Bu Lis.

Miss Lis slammed and locked the door before Rey even got to the front stairs.

" I'm not going to hurt you" Rey exclaimed. "I just want to say a few things, and I want you to listen." He knocked on the door but Lis's mother wouldn't open it.

Kikan knows his mother enjoys a fight with Rey, fighting gives him a chance to put aside the anger and hatred that makes his attitude so bitter.

" Rey doesn't have to," Kikan muttered.

" I want to talk to him."

" There's nothing to say."

" Of course there is!" Rey insisted and banged on the door again but had to settle for talking through a small hole. "Hey I caught your innuendo, but you're wrong, okay? I love your daughter."

The voice of Miss Lis echoed loud and clear. "Oh, is that right? Let's see how much love it is!"

" You're just afraid of losing him" Rey said. "Because only he showed you kindness, and you don't want to be left alone anymore."

" Are you acting like a psychiatrist now?" Miss Lis replied back.

" It doesn't have to be a psychiatrist to know that you're afraid of everything" he said. "But don't let your fear ruin your daughter's life, that's all I ask. Kikan deserves more than that."

" Does that mean he deserves you?"

" Whatever I can give him."

" Oh and any woman would be lucky to get that" Lis's mother said in a quipped tone.

Rey did not respond anymore. Though clearly unhappy with the conversation, Rey walks back to Kikan and insists on checking out the trailer, as she has done before. To make sure Logan doesn't do anything while Kikan's gone.

" Give Jason my regards" Kikan said as Rey finished checking in and stood at the door. Kikan knew Jason had reached home because the boy called when they were on their way home.

Rey looked down at him. "I know you love me, so don't pretend you don't" Rey said, then grabbed Kikan in her arms and kissed him. "Tonight sucks without you" he said, returning to his feisty, childish personality.

" I'd like to come if I can, but I'm worried that Jason's gonna freak me out when I stay over" Kikan replied. He figured it would also scare everyone except Rey's close friends, who already knew they were now together.

" He probably already thought we were sleeping together. Your mother didn't take long to figure it out. And I told Jason everything went well while we were at the lodge."

" Everything went well? that means we slept together? Is that some kind of code between men? kikan said while laughing.

" He didn't want to hear the details. Like you said, it'll scare her."

" I'm afraid it would be too strange for him to see us as more than just friends."

" Jason's attitude suggests that he doesn't have a problem with the idea, but I guess that way he wants me to protect you." Said Rey.

Kikan. "That's exactly what I don't want for you, for him, to create an enemy when all this time you've been so well-liked."

The memory of Rey and Logan stumbling in the bathroom the other day makes the stomach grow nauseous. "It doesn't matter, don't fight anymore." Kikan tried to remind.

" Don't worry, you're always worried about everything. I'll meet you tomorrow when I pick you up to watch Jason's game."

Kikan held the doorway with one hand and held the door with the other. "I can't go to that game!" kikan

" Why not?"

" It was a game at home, right?"

" You'd love to see your son play and you have full rights to be there."

" It could lead to the first riot in this small town. Especially if one of the Lori family was present, and they could do that to pretend to defend themselves. Now that they're so eager to find Via and so sure Via will justify my mistake, who knows how far they'll take the matter?"

Rey shrugged her shoulders. "Devan will come to help me. Maybe I'll invite Nanda and the others to come too."

Rey walked down the stairs, about to go home when she heard Kikan say.

" Rey?"

The man turned around and stopped to look at her. "What's wrong?"

" I love you." Kikan.

A smile immediately fell on Rey's lips. "really right? It's not that hard." Then the man came back and kissed her.

Rey's mother frowned as she opened the door of the house and saw Rey standing in front of the stairs.

" What's up?" ask mother. "You don't look happy."

Rey walked in. "No, not."

When Rey enters the house, she spends her childhood there. The house is a beautiful and well-maintained building, Rey has done almost all of her repairs herself. At least for the past twelve years, she has also rearranged the kitchen and two bathrooms, and has been doing so, helped his father cut down unhealthy trees in the backyard and put up boards for shelves in the garage. So his parents' three-bedroom home looked new, though not particularly spacious or flashy.

Rey can hear the sound of the TV in the living room, where she finds her father sitting in his favorite recliner.

" Do I need to ask what's wrong?" His mother went to get a jar of biscuits. Since childhood, Rey always came to the jar as soon as he entered the house, so his mother was so familiar with the routine.

His mother thrust the jar towards Rey, Helen kept the biscuits she had prepared for Rey and Jason, but for the first time in her memory. Rey rejected the offer.

" Now I'm sure your problem this time is very serious." Despite saying it like a joke, his mother's voice still sounded serious. He put the cake on the kitchen table. "So what's the problem?" ask Rey's mom.

" I hope you will support my decision, if you love me." Said Rey.

The tv was stopped. "Hey who's coming?"

" I'm well" Rey walked ahead of her mother to the living room.

"As soon as the time comes, you should see this" said his father, who was watching a football game.

Rey loves watching football games with her dad. But this time he asked his father to turn off the TV.

" Why?" Ask the man in surprise. "What's wrong?"

" I want to talk to you and Mom."

The TV soon died as requested, then Rey sat on a small sofa for two people, while her mother perched on the end of the sofa. "Tell me this has nothing to do with Kikan" Rey's mother said. "Because I want to do anything for you but there's nothing I can do to fix that one."

" There's so much you can do" Rey said.

" So it was Kikan who brought you here at night? Rey, there's been some progress over the course of a few days

here's what you need to know...."

" Let me guess," Rey interrupted. "Mother and Mother's best friend have found it via Astaria."
