The Passion Of My Enemy

The Passion Of My Enemy
** evangeline **

"It's not what you think, Sweety. I love Eve like a brother, like my own sister."

Derek judged his wife's facial expression, Rona began to return on both cheeks slowly although his shock did not seem to be completely gone.

"I lived with Eve and her sister when I was a kid. Before I was taken and adopted by my father Erland. We bums ... Eve was very small at the time. I took care of him when David's sister Eve went to find food for us to eat."

Amy looks at Derek, interested in hearing the story of her husband's life before being taken by Erland. He was silent, waiting for the crane to continue.

"How I'm not close to him. I fed him, bathed him and even changed his diaper when he wet him in the middle of the night. David had to work hard in order to feed us and provide blankets to warm us up in the winter."

Amy felt sorry to hear her husband's story, Not expecting to hear this kind of relationship between Eve and Derek.

"Why don't you guys live in a parlour, Derek? Will no one take care of you and take care of you?"

Derek shook his head." We have tried it, but the place is already very full, the food there must be contested and the strong who get it. David decided to leave when he was older. And I decided to go with him."

"When did you leave them, Derek? When your father Erland took you?"

Derek tightened his molar, then took a deep breath before exhaling it very slowly. She has to tell it, Amy has to know, so she can understand and understand Derek completely.

"I was 9 years old at the time. I met my dad while he was looking for food in the trash. Erland came with a piece of warm bread and waited for me to finish it. He laughed then, and he unexpectedly offered to come with me."

Amy stared at her heartily, imagining the little Derek having to scavenge for food to fill his hungry belly. He is always filled with sufficiency, his parents always make sure of it, but not every child is lucky like him. Amy was so grateful.

"You following him?"

Derek nodded at Amy's question.

"I went to follow Erland's invitation. Selflessly and tell them ...." Derek gulped, seemingly unable to continue his words. Amy waited, just looking through her eyes, the lover who was giving out the biggest wedge in his life. There was a deep tone of regret, Amy knew Derek needed to get him out.

"I'm leaving. I'm afraid Erland would change her mind if I took David and Eve .. and I couldn't afford to say anything, because I knew Eve would be very sad. So I just left them." Back Derek gulps.

Amy was eager to hug her husband at this time, but she held him back. Derek has to get everything out first. Her power and ability to bring out this past story will be lost if Amy shows compassion at this time.

"When did you come back and take Eve with you, Derek?"

"8 years later. I often remember them when I remember them. I would love to tell Erland my desire to find them. But always fail. Erland asks who David is and who Eve is."

"Erland knows? How did your father know about them?" ask Amy astonished.

"I also wondered. But apparently the two names always entered my dreams and Erland heard me mention them several times in my sleep. Since he had already asked, I told him everything, my regret for leaving David and Eve, my desire to look for them ...."

"What's your father's reaction?"

Derek smiles. "I'm so sorry I didn't tell him sooner. He ordered his men to search for David and Eve's whereabouts."

"Only in a day. Mike and I went to David. He is being treated in a small hospital with improvised equipment. The nurse said David should have been taken to a nicer place with more adequate equipment."

"He sick? Why?" ask Amy sadly. Derek tightened the molars to hold back the growling feeling in view of the incident.

"He was tortured and beaten to the brink for not being able to pay the debt. The men beat his head and his whole body. I transferred him to the hospital with the best service. But David's condition was already very bad, the infection had eaten away at his body."

Amy wails. "Where was Eve when it was Derek?"

After moving in and making sure David was well taken care of, Mike and I picked up Eve. He works non-stop in a bar. The girl was 12 years old at the time. He's the one who's working to get the cost for David's treatment."

"Oh God ...." Amy closed her eyes, unable to imagine what Eve had experienced in her teens.

"Of course she didn't remember me. Mike was forced to hold and tie him up so he would come with us into the car." Derek smiled in memory of that moment.

"We took him to the hospital where David was treated. After he calmed down, I introduced myself and he remembered. He cried and hit me repeatedly. Scolding me for leaving him without saying anything." Derek endured the turmoil in his voice by repeatedly gulping his saliva. Amy could no longer contain her sadness. His water flows without being able to control it. Also sorry for the fate experienced by Eve and her brother.

"Then David's condition made little progress. He woke up from the coma and recognized me when our eyes met. She smiles. A few days later the breathing apparatus to his lungs can be removed, the more the day the better. But the doctor has stated that he has paralysis of the lower limbs."

"Pumped ..." Amy repeated.

"Yes. I said I would do my best to get him back to how he was. But David said he was very tired. All she thought about was Eve, what about Eve if something happened to her, and then she said those strange words."

"Any? What did he say Derek?"

"She said very grateful I remembered them and finally came back. He was tired of being alone guarding Eve, because Eve was so wild and dissident, he laughed as he said that. Then he left Eve to me, told me to look after her like I used to look after her when she was little, to look after her like my own sister. Do not let Eve experience sadness when she lost a sister. I thought he was referring to the incident when I left them. But apparently ...." Derek was silent, taking a deep breath, filling up his congested lungs.

"What's wrong? What happened then, Derek?"

"He ended himself by cutting off his veins. Apparently his despair when he found out that half of his body could not be moved." Derek rubbed his face.

"After being found, he can no longer be helped. His heart has stopped."

"Oh my God ...." Amy is back sobbing. He knows what it feels like to lose a loved one. Back when she lost her mom, there was a father who loved her who was still looking after her, and after her father was gone, Amy felt an incredible void. Although now he has felt the color back in his heart because of Derek's existence. Eve loses the only person who loves, looks after and protects her from childhood. Amy's heart aches and she sobs for evangeline ....
