When Sera's wheelchair was pushed closer to the bed, Sera's eyes were immediately glued to a very thin figure, lying on her in the hospital bed with her eyes tightly closed. Sera's heart seemed to be squeezed by something invisible, clutching it tightly, suffocating it in pain mixed with seething and frothy happiness in her chest.
Her dad.
The figure lying on the hospital bed was much different from the father Sera had known all those years ago just before they were separated. Salvatore Moon's. His father who is in the memory of Sera was young, strong and very handsome. On one last clear morning in Sera's poignant memory, the man still took the time to eat breakfast in the morning, eating a menu of rice and omelet sprinkled with a simple soy sauce made by his mother who spent up the toilet while throwing joking fruitful laughter of his wife's crisp soothing in the morning. Still had time for the father to sip his favorite warm black coffee, before then put his big palm to the top of Sera's head and rub it gently with affection.
'Seraphina Moon, the meaning of your name is the burning moonlight. You're gonna keep blazing to light up this family. You'll grow up to be a strong boy to look after your mother. I'm depending on you to protect your mother. Be a strong boy.'
It was the last sentence that his father had spoken to Sera before then their quiet morning turned into a low boisterous morning by terrible bad memories. A group of people with unfriendly expressions came to pick up her father and took him away by force, her heart-wrenching cries and her heart-wrenching mother unable to stop the violent parting, she recounted the painful memory for the child's soul of Sera's last encounter with her father. Only after a long time later, Sera understood that the one who picked up her father was a police officer and they immediately threw him into prison without giving a chance to Sera who was then just a child, and they immediately threw him into prison, to meet his father again.
The days after that were horrible. His mother, who was getting increasingly haggard and thin, always spent her time filled with fatigue because she had to go back and forth from home to the city prison which was located very far from their home in the suburbs. Her mother's focus was entirely on her father's trial, on all the proceedings that never sided with the poor from slums like them. It all makes Sera start to be forgotten, unkempt, left at home alone sometimes without anything to eat.
As if all that was not bad enough, his father immediately received a very severe punishment, faced a terrible death sentence and finally made his mother fall into despair.
His father and mother were a couple who did not have any possessions. People say that coming from the bottom will definitely end up with the one below anyway, with no chance to climb up. That's what happened to his father and mother. A man from a poor family, meets a woman from an equally poor slum.
However, since the beginning of their love is not based on the desire to accumulate treasures, they hold each other's feelings of belonging, loyalty and sincere love for each other to hold on to life, and they are not, moreover, there was Sera present among them who had to be guarded. His mother did not not not know that his father lived with his hands covered in sin in the valley of his most famous crime wallowing and looking for money, but his mother knew, but she knew, that there are no more clean jobs for lowly people created from below like them. Therefore, all this time, his mother never questioned where the money brought home by their father. As long as they could eat, as long as they could connect, then that was enough and his mother thought that they would be fine forever.
The incident that befell her husband, the death penalty that threatened her husband, made her mother realize that she was contributing to the misfortune that befell their family. Supposedly she was giving boundaries to her husband, she should have prevented him from going too far in accepting criminal work in exchange for money to support his family. Then the regret continued to stab, bertubi tore the heart until finally the mother was not strong anymore and chose to end the holiness of self and leave her child without protection in this world.
The story of Sera's life changed drastically after it all happened, but for now, Sera does not want to remember it anymore, she also does not want to blame the actions of her mother who chose to run away from the reality of this life. He just wanted to remember the sweet memories that intertwined between him and his father. Memories of her tiny body swaying in laughter in her father's sling, memories of the moment they clocked bicycles through a narrow alley of densely populated slum housing, speeding through the strong afternoon breeze with a light heart and a wide smile, the memories of the thunderstorm hitting their rickety home and his father coming to hug provided protection and calm. Sera just wants to remember all the memories when she felt safe and happy in the arms and protection of her father.
Sera's eyes were fixed on the figure of her father who was currently lying quietly on the bed. Now, the figure of Salvatore in his little memories was no longer there. There was no tall burly Salvatore with half-length hair who shaded a face full of wide smiles as he widened his hands to receive a hug from Sera, no longer the figure of the handsome Salvatore who can always make his mother blush when he hugged the mother from behind with love. There was no strong father figure, who always turned his head in a smile when Sera called out to him excitedly.
In front of him was an old man who might have aged far before his real age, his body thin dry, with closed eyelids sunken inward almost like the eye sockets of a skull, his hair depleted, and his eyes were almost like, leaving only thin white strands that were fragile and seemed to be falling out to the touch, his skin was wrinkled and dry, stained by tanned patches without the inevitable aging.
What was even more sad was that the hoses, all connected to life-supporting machines that made a constant, horrible noise as if stretching the deadening time for his father. His father's breathing sounded pitifully up and down, relying on the help of oxygen connected to his respiratory tract.
Tears flooded involuntarily, spilling from the corner of Sera's tears as her trembling hand moved slowly onto the bed and grasped the surface of the dry and thin-skinned hand. Sera's lips trembled as the pain further pierced her soul, widening her old wounds and draining a flood of painful tears.
"Dad." Sera's sentence uttered with a sound blocked by trembling, sliding slowly before then drifting carried by a stream of sobs that increasingly hardened. Sera wanted to say all the words stored in her chest all this time to her father. He wanted to express his feelings, but what came out was just a hoarse fad that hurt his throat.
Daddyh. Ii'm sorry. Forgive your son. I'm not a strong boy. I can't save Mom. I can't save you. I can't save our family. I can't do everything. Ii'm sorry. Ii'm sorry. Ii'm sorry.
Sera's tiny body fell on her bedside, resting on her father's frozen hand, shedding her tears there, drenching her with a flood of tears of regret, crying out loud, full of wounds, and so on, guiltily.
Xavier who was standing beside Sera could only look down. She wanted to hug, she wanted to wipe that petite shaky shoulder to ease Sera's cries and offer comfort from her. But he knew he couldn't do it.
This was an opportunity for Sera to shed tears. This was the perfect time for Sera to open her apology and then accept forgiveness for herself and step foot lightly into the future afterwards.
Xavier's heart ached to see Sera's pain, even more so when he realized that he, the cause of Sera's misfortune, could do nothing for her at this time.
Xavier steps back, providing distance, providing an opportunity for Sera to get her own time with her father, providing an opportunity for a reunion and nostalgia between the father and son who are separated long, alone.

"The conditions are getting worse."
Doctor Nathan's voice was heard whispering as the man handed the examination papers into Xavier's hand who received them in silence.
Xavier read the inscription on the paper carefully and his expression darkened as he got deeper into what was written on the paper.
"How much longer?" Xavier handed the paper back to Nathan, sighed slightly before asking in a slowly blocked voice. "How long is it gonna be?"
"Right now, you could say Salvatore is entirely dependent on life support tools. If the device is removed, then don't wait long." Doctor Nathan moved his fingers to massage the base of his nose in frustration. "You're probably going to try your hardest to extend Salvatore's life span for Sera, but I think everything has its limits. You can't go beyond what's been outlined, Xavier. The age of a person is far beyond your control" he advised in a cautious voice.
Xavier exhaled a poignant breath. "I knew there would be no chance for Sera to interact with her father in a conscious state. But I don't think the accident is still added to the death that is ready to pick up in the near future. He. he won't be able to bear it." Xavier's voice rang out as he thought of his wife. "Sera wouldn't be able to bear it if she knew. He's gonna break apart."
"The present condition is not supportive. That's why we have to try our hardest to hold on to this death, at least until Sera gives birth and recovers from Cesar's surgery." Doctor Nathan looked at Xavier with a confessional smile on his bibr. "I was against you bringing Sera here because I was worried about her condition. But, after I saw Sera earlier, I think you made the right decision. Sera needs to see her father. He needed to spill his feelings, it would make his mind lighter later and it was good for his soul atmosphere. Moreover, if the worst happened. At least Sera had already gotten a chance to see her father."
Xavier nodded his head. "I guess after this, if it's good for Sera's mood development, I'll schedule Sera's regular visits here to see her father regularly."
Dr. Nathan does not dispute. "I will check the condition of the body and pregnancy Sera periodically. If Sera's body condition remains good, then regular visits I think can be scheduled regularly." Silence stretched between them after Nathan's sentence. The doctor watched Xavier nailing his eyes to the closed door where Sera and his father were reuniting behind him, and a smile appeared on his lips. "You've changed, Xavier," he said, breaking the silence.
Xavier turned his head back towards Doctor Nathan and raised his eyebrows slightly.
Doctor Nathan shrugged his shoulders. "Xavier, who used to be, wouldn't bother to do this. I think.. If it's about the old you, you'd prefer to make a quick and practical decision by eliminating Sera's father just so as not to become a fester in your relationship." Doctor Nathan guessed exactly, making Xavier grin bitterly.
"I used to be like a creature drowning in a dark pit and suffocating with no one to save. I am now saved. Of course I'm different" he replied later in a mysterious tone full of smiles.

The woman finally fell asleep.
Darkness was already stretched out on the surface of the sky out there when Xavier finally steeled his heart to interrupt the emotional encounter between Sera and her father. Xavier closed the door of the treatment room behind him, then stepped quietly through the thick carpet of the room to approach Sera.
His wife was still sitting on the chair he had pulled closer beside the bed. The woman's body was face down, with her head lying on the hand of her father who did not open her eyes. Sera's two hands were used to hold her skinny hands and her old father as well as her head lying on its side with regular breathing sank deep due to fatigue crying.
Xavier's eyes were glued to Sera's cheeks drenched by a stream of hardened tears, even with the corner of the woman's eyes swollen reddish from being squeezed in such a way as to drain the plentiful sadness that flooded in.
Xavier moved his fingers to wipe the wet residue on Sera's cheek. He then closed his eyes, feeling a cringing tightness in his chest, a beam of emotion that was once impossible for his cold heart to feel.
Every human being sometimes holds regrets for the results of his actions and mistakes in the past. The old Xavier didn't care about any of that. His heart was too dark to be tainted with useless emotions like regret. But, her present self is not so.
All the results of his past crimes are now clearly displayed before him, like a severe punishment that repulsed the proud side of himself that was once filled with evil and dark souls. The two creatures in front of him, the figure of a father lying in a coma and waiting for death combined with the figure of a helpless girl who was pregnant and crying loudly until exhausted. All of this is a creation of Xavier's past sins. This miserable situation before him, was the result of Xavier's crime at that time being too cruel and unwilling to think of anyone other than himself.
Is he sorry? Yep. He's very sorry. The taste hit Xavier's soul forcefully and tore him apart in the most painful way a human heart could feel.
Broke already. Xavier fell to his knees, unable to resist the violent emotions within his soul. Hot tears flowed and melted his frozen heart, filled with pain that whimpered useless apologies that rolled regret over something that could no longer be repaired.
Time cannot be turned back, blood shed can not be restored again and sins that occurred in the past can no longer get forgiveness. Man has no power to erase what has happened, only able to wallow in regret in the heart, beg for mercy on the injured, then drag himself to step forward and try not to look back.
Xavier had already received punishment for his crime, the suffering of Sera, the grief of his most beloved, it was already the most severe punishment for him.
In the dimly lit room, three human figures received his redemption. A father who made a mistake to set him apart from his son, a daughter who begged for forgiveness for not having the power to protect her family, and also a man who sheds tears because he is the cause of it all.
