“Where am I?”
It was like being in a place so dark. When his eyes opened, he saw something.
It was a crowd in the village. It was Kamakura Village, where he used to live with his late parents before dying.
“It..”.
It looks like a familiar sight. All of them are villagers. Their faces looked slightly younger and better than before.
“Am I dead? They say when you die, they will remember their journey back. What does this feel like?”
Reda walked. When a little boy ran up to him, he was surprised that the boy had pierced through his body.
“I skipped?!”
Rede finally realized that it was all an illusion.
He walked over and heard a voice he missed so much.
“Reda, mom and dad home!”
“That voice...” as he looked back, all those scenes had changed. Like it was really an illusion, it was a scene in his house.
Tears trickled as Reda looked at what was in front of her at this moment. It was the face of his deceased father and mother and himself as a child.
“Dad, mom!” Little Reda ran and hugged the two. How happy the memories of that time were.
Reda could not help herself to walk towards the shadow and try to touch it.
“Dad...mother..”.
Although none of the shadows could be touched by him, he still tried to touch him.
“Daddy...mother..Paid here. Hiks, Reda is here...”.
The memories keep going. Reda looked back on all her childhood. The image of the memories contained the time when both of his parents had just returned home from hunting and prepared lunch for them.
“Huwaaa~what is this?”
“This forest rabbit. Daddy got it, great right?” said the father proudly
“Great! Reda never saw anything like this! Mom, shall we eat this? What do you want to do?”
“Sup and stir-fry meat. Want to help mom?”
“Reda helped! Reda who took the water yes.”
The little girl went to fetch some water while her two masters were in the kitchen. The father was a hunter and the mother accompanied her husband to go hunting every day.
They sell their money to the market to make money.
Reda House when in the village used to be near the forest, a little further from the hustle of the village, therefore both parents spent their time hunting or picking up wild vegetables in the forest.
Their relationship with the villagers was quite good, although it could not be said either. Because of the busyness of the two girls' parents, they are often suspected.
The forest near where they live almost leads to the border area of Higashi no Mori, the sacred forest belonging to Aragaki-sama, the Guardian God of Kamakura. The legend of the Guardian God exists for generations in the village.
Villagers' concerns continue to grow with each passing day as Reda's parents get a lot of food and wild vegetables to eat and sell.
Until one day, a group of wild pigs attacked the village.
Reda's father and mother tried to help the population by killing the pigs who damaged their homes and rice fields, but with so many, some residents were injured and died.
The survivors made the corpses of the wild boars as their food while rebuilding the city, but they never shared them with the small family.
Rumor has it that the boars attacked because of the hunter's husband and wife's mistake. Of course Reda always defends both parents and always ends up with hurt and humiliation.
Until one rainy day, when his two masters were hunting into the forest, little Reda who was alone waiting for the return of her master.
No one ever knew that it was the last day the two of them saw the world. There was news that they died from being trapped in an avalanche and falling. The little girl cried and walked out of her house.
When he decided to go home, the warm house that became the only safe place was destroyed by the villagers. They burned everything, nothing was left at that moment.
And that's where the little girl's hell started.
All of Reda's bitter memories rotated and only made herself continue to cry seeing all of it. As if he had forgotten all the pain he felt, he had forgotten that it had all been through himself.
Some of the bad memories he had forgotten were replayed until they opened old wounds.
Reda cried seeing all that. Her tears fell and her trembling body could not help the sadness.
“What...will I die after remembering all this? Hiks...is...is there nothing beautiful left for me in this world before I die?”
“I'm even..I haven't even thanked Ryuunosuke for everything. Hiks..”
“I haven't said my feelings to Nushi-sama yet. I have not apologized to Nushi-sama. Hiks..”
“Am I going to die with regrets like this? I...hiks...I don't want to be like this..”.
All those memories are gone. There was only darkness for the girl from the village.
In the middle of the darkness, she was crying alone. There was no sound other than that cry. Reda felt the time was only a short time away. At the very least, that shadow of memory was what he considered to be the last message before he died.
Until finally a light came with a soft voice and warm hands that hugged him.
“We're home, Reda. We're back home.”
A very warm voice sounded. The gentle strokes of the body provide warmth to Reda. And just as he began to see the figure embracing him, a light came and obliterated the entire darkness there.
“This voice...”
**
In the Aragaki residence, in a warm room with the door open and a cool breeze blowing, the village girl opened her eyes.
“Mm...ini..where?” mumbled slowly
Reda tried to look around her and while trying to move her hand, she felt something soft grasping that hand.
“Eh?”
“Are you better? How are you doing? Does it still hurt?”
“...” Reda was surprised by the tears that dripped. It was a beautiful thing for her to see the warm smile of the man she loved silently welcoming her as she awoke from a nightmare.
Aragaki smiled and wiped away the girl's tears. “Why crying? Is anyone still sick?”
“This...dream? Am I still...dreaming?”
“This is not a dream. It's reality.” replied Aragaki gently. His face had once shown that gentleness, but never one that was softer than that.
Reda could barely control herself and cried.
“Ma. Hiks..forgive me..”.
“It's okay. It's all done. Nothing to worry about.”
“Hiks..I'm sorry, I've violated Nushi-sama's orders. Hiks.I'm sorry.I'm sorry. Please don't hate me anymore..hiks..don't hate me anymore.”.
Reda cried like all that became the last thing she could do. He covered his entire face in fear and only repeated the same sentence to the ruler.
Until finally the cry stopped as the ruler gently put away the girl's hand and kissed her to calm her down.
Reda was silent from shock. His hand was kissed by the ruler and he saw it. Their gaze met and as if to tell something, Aragaki gently stroked the face of the village girl.
“I won't hate you. I will never hate you again. I've decided to be with you. Therefore.don't cry.”.
A beautiful sentence that sounds like a dream to Reda. In the morning, Aragaki greeted Reda with a warm, loving look. Like he wanted to say all of that at once.
