Chapter 21. Surprise Plan for Aragaki-sama

Reda who does her job does not know anything about the ikebana decorations she makes. He works with feelings of anxiety and fear.

“I don't think I can make anything like that here anymore.”

As Reda brought water in the well to water the garden, she noticed something in the vegetable area.

“Hmm? What is it?”

Something hairy, jumping and like eating something.

“I'm sure there was nothing like that two days ago. yesterday was also fine?”

When approached, it turned out to be a rabbit that appeared out of nowhere. More funny, some vegetables such as carrots and cabbage have been eaten away by him.

“Rabbit?! Eh? There are rabbits here, since when?!”

Reda noticed the number of plants with the bite marks of the rabbit. Panicking, the girl tried to catch him.

He ran and tried to chase her but failed.

“Wait a minute! Don't run!”

Even if only one, but if it is difficult to catch it is the same as troublesome.

“Stop!!”

The sound of screaming was quite heard to the ears of Aragaki who was together with his three servants.

“Whispering.” chirps

“Reda-sama?”

Perhaps because the three Aragaki servants were fox demons and Aragaki himself was a wolf demon that was considered the Forest Protective God, the sound from a distance was quite startling.

“Reda-sama seems to be having problems.” said Ginko who is ready to stand up

“Aragaki-sama, Ryuunosuke will see it for a while!”

Ryuunosuke frantically ran towards the source of the voice. The other two youko asked permission to see him for a while. There was no reply from Aragaki as if he did not care about the village girl.

When Ryuunosuke came and saw what was happening, he saw Reda who was holding a forest rabbit with all her dirty clothes.

“Do not..move..”.

“Re–Reda-sama! What happened?”

“Ryuunosuke? I caught a rabbit eating plants in the garden. Look!”

Reda was unaware of her dirty clothes as well as the water in the spilled bucket. The girl showed the forest rabbit to the little fox.

The little fox frantically approached Reda and helped clean her clothes.

“Reda-sama, her clothes are all dirty. If it is dirty like this, then how will Reda-sama work?”

Reda just smiled at the little fox. Not long after, Nagi and Ginko come to see it for themselves.

“Jeez..Oi, village girl! You want to destroy the garden huh?!” yell Nagi

Reda looked at the two youko and saluted from a distance. Realizing that the village girl was carrying something in her hand, Ginko immediately approached her.

“Reda-sama, are you okay?”

“I'm fine. Sorry for making a noise, Ginko-sama.” said the girl

“It...rabbit forest apparently. I thought they wouldn't come to the garden anymore.” Ginko muttered quietly

“Western rabbits?”

“True. One of the animals in the forest. Because it is small and fast so often hide behind the bushes. I'm sure Reda-sama never met her during her stay in the forest, right?”

Reda nodded. Ryuunosuke took his rabbit from Reda and held it. From behind, Nagi approached all of them and looked at the rabbit held by Ryuunosuke.

“Uwaa, other meat huh? Great also you, village girl!”

“Meats?” Reda is getting confused

“The flesh of this forest rabbit is quite in demand among stealth. It is usually eaten raw as there is no specific standard for our tongue. After all, rabbit meat is stuffy, smells quite strong and is not suitable for cooking.”

Just shut up. After listening to some of Nagi's chatter about the garden full of rabbit tracks and almost destroyed it, the two youko left.

Ryuunosuke tries to comfort Reda.

“Reda-sama, don't think about Nagi-sama's words. Nagi-sama does like to say such hurtful things. Ryuunosuke will bring his rabbit into dan–”

“Ryuunosuke..”

“Does everyone like grilled meat?”

“Hmm?”

Reda and Ryuunosuke take the rabbit to the old hut where Reda lives. There, Reda prepares to make something.

“Ryuunosuke, I'll find wood first in the forest. Please keep the rabbit from escaping yes.”

“Reda-sama, what do you want to do?”

Reda simply stroked Ryuunosuke's head and went into the forest. We went in quite a while this time. With the bucket in the well, Reda went into the forest.

Ryuunosuke waited by holding his rabbit.

In the forest, Reda takes the wild vegetables back.

“Thank God there are many.” he said with a smile

He picked up some wild vegetables again. Not far from there, Reda found a fallen apple.

“Apel? There are other apples in this place?”

Reda's smile looked increasingly blushing. He saw some apples that were still good on the ground. Taking it for a bit, he began to wipe the apple with his clothes. Some tree branches also do not forget to take it.

Once enough was done, the girl returned to her old hut.

“I'm back. Sorry for the long time, Ryuunosuke. Look it! I got a lot of wild vegetables in the forest.” he said happy

“Huwaa, where did Reda-sama get it from?!”

“This is in the forest. Last night I ate it too and it tasted so good.”

“Night, Reda-sama ate this? Really?”

Reda nodded. The little fox did not believe the sentence from the girl because he understood best how difficult it was for humans to live in the forest alone like this.

However, seeing Reda's smiling face blushing like that made the little fox believe her.

“We'll make something with that bunny. Later, we give it to Nushi-sama so that he is happy.”

“Reda-sama..want to make something more for Aragaki-sama?”

“Of course. Isn't our goal of making her smile?”

Hearing that sentence, Ryuunosuke grew even happier. Otherwise holding the rabbit in his hand, he might just hug Reda.

Reda gives a little instruction to Ryuunosuke and the little fox does it. He took the rabbit to the well behind and killed it. With his ability, he skinned and cleaned the rabbit's blood alone.

The village girl picked the vegetables and washed them. After it was all done, he cut off all his vegetables and apples.

In the forest, both of them were engrossed in making new things in order to make the forest Protector God happy.

Nagi and Ginko return to Aragaki.

“We're back, Aragaki-sama.”

“It's done with the commotion?”

“That's..there was a forest rabbit that entered and damaged the garden again. After a long time no one came in and they went back to eating their vegetable crops.”

“So. I'm sure Ryuunosuke took good care of it.”

“Actually..who takes care of all that is Reda-sama and thanks to it all is not so severe, Nushi-sama.”

Aragaki looked at Ginko with an eye expression that showed that she was surprised.

“So what did you say?”

“Reda-sama who has taken care of it. He's the one who caught the forest rabbit and probably is currently cleaning up his garden.”

“I have no interest in taking care of dirty humans.”

Aragaki did not use her ability to see the village girl.

From the very beginning because she was not interested in him, she chose to ignore him. There was nothing important about the girl and nothing to be noticed from her.

In a moment unknown to him, the girl he thought was insignificant was trying to make him smile in his way.
