Because I Don't Want to Lose

Because I Don't Want to Lose
58 - Surprise

Not only pain in his stomach, dizziness is also so great to swallow his head. His body floated lightly and coldly, while the world around him seemed to be twisting around him to eliminate his balance. Next, everything became vague.

An indistinct shadow could still be caught by his eyes that could only be half-opened. Also voices that sound far away even though they feel close.

He could still feel Izzar's hand embracing him.

The blurry faces of the people who swarmed him.

Roof in the car.

Journey.

The room smells of medicine.

The sturdy hands that carried him and moved him lay on the small, uncomfortable bed.

The drawn curtain.

The woman who presses her chest with her tools, and pulls her eyelids and glares with a dazzling light.

Others came clutching his arm and arguing it with a cloth sleeve which then moved fasten and shortly released while shouting to tell the tension of his blood.

“Low! 80 per 50.”

There is a lot of activity on his body. Everyone speaks fast.

Someone tied her arm again, stronger, put something cold on her skin, and and did something that made her vena hurt.

While on the other side there was a holding the back of his palm,

pressing, stabbing and installing objects plastered tight on his skin.

Anaya felt a throbbing in her lower abdomen. He pulled the shirt of someone close to him. He could not see the face that was close to him. In a weak voice, he whispered. He doesn't want to lose it.

“USG!” The face immediately screamed and pulled Anaya's clothes up.

Izzar who had just finished giving Anaya's data to one of the officers, at the end of the door of the Emergency Installation room, was approached by a hooded nurse.

“Bapak's wife, at what age is her pregnancy?”

He's stunned.

...***...

Anaya's eyes were still closed. However, he felt like he had just been thrown from another empty world. Slowly he opened his eyes. Although his gaze was still unfocused, he saw an unequal ceiling. He was in a different room. It's quieter here.

The accompanying silence slowly evaporated. The voices around him began to wander.

He raised his dizzy head a little.

At the end of the bed he saw a man in a white suit and a woman in a nurse's uniform talking to Izzar.

“Should be transfusion, because the HB is too low. He's anemic. Indeed often experienced by pregnant women.”

“But, in the blood bank, his mother's blood type stock is empty.”

“My blood type is different.”

“Maybe his family?”

“Immediately contact.”

Anaya spread her head again and closed her eyes again. All of those conversations caught flashing in his ear. However, he felt too tired to listen further. He went back to sleep.

After a while, he was awake again. He did not know how long he had been asleep. The dizziness in his head was still a little left behind. But he began to feel his body. No longer as light as before. On the top of his head, hung two plastic bags filled with clear and dark red liquid connected by a small hose to his hand.

“Hai...” A voice, gently reprimanding him.

Anaya. Beside him stood Randi with his trademark grin. Anaya smiled back at him, even though she wished someone else would greet her.

“What time?” Anaya lost her time orientation.

“Eight morning.”

Anaya looked at the window. The sky seemed to be bright. The day has changed apparently.

“Still dizzy?”

“Ya.” He touched his stomach.

“Aman.” Randi. "The doctor said you should rest bed."

Anaya was relieved although restless as well because it meant that she had to take a complete rest.

“Izzar?” The name is also from his lips.

“Should he have to go.” Randi pulled up a chair and sat down near Anaya.

“She knows that I..” Anaya rubbed her stomach.

“Ya.”

“Where is the reaction?”

“We all got angry because we knew you were pregnant, but didn't tell him.”

“We?”

“Sandra, I. Mba Kemi almost." Randi shuddering. “Big! I've never seen him get so angry.”

Anaya could not imagine how badly Izzar expressed his anger. The man almost never saw him say rudely.

“You're ready aja.” Randi.

“I'll be scolded too?”

“Ya sure! The main actor is you. You who threatened us told him. So, you have to be responsible.”

“But I'm sick again, Ran.” Anaya. Afraid of him too.

“If she knew you were pregnant, where might you be sick like this.”

Anaya pouting.

“Already, breakfast first!” Randi picked up the food tray at the dining table.

Randi helped her lift her back and propped her up in an abortive manner. His eyes were more open to looking around him. He just realized the room he occupied was very spacious. There is a dining table, sofa, widescreen TV, refrigerator and pantry.

Attentively, Randi feeds Anaya. He could only swallow a few mouthfuls of his porridge.

“Who was waiting for me last night?”

“Izzar. After donating blood, I went home. He asked me to help you in the morning. Because I have to go."

Anaya swallowed the vitamin Randi recommended.

“In the meantime Mba Kemi is here. Naira let me come with me. Sandra can't leave the office.”

After eating, Anaya went back to sleep and fell asleep.

He woke up again when time passed noon. Randi has replaced Mba Kemi. The woman gave a paper fold. Anaya opened. Inside was a crayon-colored flower, with the inscription: get well soon Mama. Take care of my sister.

Anaya was moved and felt guilty because it was not her who told Naira about her sister-to-be. He hoped that Naira would understand him.

He thought of Izzar. What would he say later if he came and scolded her like Randi said. Did the man dare to nag him. That can't happen. What right does Izzar get angry? Anaya's emotions rumbled.

The logic suddenly came up challenging. “Isn't Izzar the father of a fetus in his stomach? Yeah, he deserves to know, dong!

His emotions dimmed a little. However, it soon bounced back when it remembered the check that was still stored in its bag. Where Izzar got that kind of money has not been answered.

So are the old questions that are repeated because they have not been answered. Why he was directly involved with the Ridwan case. Why he got to know Ridwan. Isn't Ridwan Naira's father?

The world is turning again. His dizzy that had subsided came back. Anaya closed her eyes tightly. He fell asleep again.

The afternoon changed night. The doctor came to check on her and the nurse took her blood. Mba Kemi patiently fed him dinner. That woman doesn't talk much.

“You were scolded Mr Izzar, Mba?” ask Anaya.

“Hmm.. Not really. You asked me if I knew anything about being pregnant. I said I didn't know. I don't know, even if I suspect you're drinking pregnant milk." Mba Kemi replied as it is.

“He who told you to take care of me here?”

“Iya.”

The bedroom door is knocked. Mba Kemi opens. A young man came in and greeted Anaya. Anaya knew him as Mr. Arsyad's assistant.

“Please permission, Mom! Mr. Arsyad came to see Mom!”

The young man swiftly turned around widening the door. From behind it, Anaya's former in-laws appeared with a fit fresh body and a wide, fluffy smile.

Anaya surprised. Didn't Ridwan yesterday say his father was sick and being treated.
