"To Arya's hospital" I told my driver Arya.

"Okay sir" he replied obediently as usual.

That morning, I somehow wanted to see Devan early. Usually I will visit him when there is free time in between the busy office. But that morning, I wanted to meet her, to thank her somehow for how many times.

I was sad to see his condition. I didn't expect this to happen to him at all. However, once again humans can only plan and live, but in the end the power that is up there is what determines the end path.

Devan had never realized since that accident, the last thing I remember was our vidio call that afternoon, back in L town when I was, uh, Alvaro and Clara were playing sand in front of our rented cottage.

One thing that makes me stunned and think that it was his last meeting with us was what he said back then. His message to Kanaya, Alvaro, Clara and also to me.

Kanaya, Alvaro and Clara are in the cottage because Clara wants to go to the toilet, Devan and I are there. We talked both.

**** flashback On ******

"Elvano, thank you" Devan told me at the time.

"Stop talks like that, Van. You're my family too. You owe me nothing" I replied, not wanting to grow up what I did for them. They're my family, and the family doesn't thank each other, right?

"Kanaya and the children seem happy on vacation there," said Devan.

"Hmmm yes, the place is quite nice and also comfortable. You should be here soon, Van. And look at this beautiful place" I replied.

"Yes, if time is still on my side" Devan replied at the time.

"Devan, Devan, what are you talking about!" I told him while chuckling. Think his talk is a joke. And he responded with a smile.

"Elvano," he called. His eyes looked hard at me

"Yes?" my answer.

"If something happens to me, will you take care of them for me?" tanyakanya.

"Devan, never mind, stop talking no - no! "My chatter to her, not wanting to take her words seriously.

What kind of question is that? Without asking him I would do it too. His family is my family too. I love them like they are my family.

"I knew you'd do it even if I didn't ask for it. I know you love them, just as much as I love them" Devan said.

"And I also know, you still love Kanaya very much" he added.

I was surprised by his words. It made me look at it for a moment before I turned my gaze in the other direction, I don't know what object could be caught in my eyes, but it didn't reach my mind, because my mind was thinking about what it said just now.

"I know it's hard for you to see me with him, but it turns out you can take him" Devan said.

"So it's time to talk from heart to heart?" my mind while looking at his face on the phone screen.

"I admit, I still love Kanaya very much. I'm sorry, because it's hard for me to forget. But I will keep my promise, Devan. I will never disturb your household" I said.

Devan smiles.

"I understand why you can't let it go, sometimes I'm really jealous of you too" Devan said, chuckling.

"Kanaya is someone who is easy to love, hard to break and impossible to forget, isn't that so Elvano?" devan asked with a smile.

I smiled, I must admit that Devan was right.

Had I been wiser a few years ago to see that Kanaya was someone worthy of love and not easy for me to forget, maybe I would never have been a monster in her life, she said,and our way of life will be different.

But the life line speaks another. To get to where I am today, I have to go through various bad things that make me grow older and wiser in dealing with life. And all because of Kanaya.

"As you say, Devan. I've received all this with a chest. I'm glad he's happy with you," I'm honest.

"Then there's no problem, Elvano. Promise me you'll take care of Kanaya and the kids when I'm not around." she said again, asking me to make that promise to her.

"Yes, you don't have to worry about Devan. I promise I'll take care of them. They'll be fine with me" I told him.

The look on his face changed, like a weight was missing on his shoulder when I said that.

"Now I can relax, Elvano. Thank you" he said, then he smiled and greeted Clara who knew he had run towards us.

And the atmosphere was again crowded by the joking of the five of us.

***** Flashback Off ****

"We have arrived, sir." said Arya, looking at me.

Soon enough time passed, and we arrived at the hospital.

"Ok you park yeah, I might be a little long inside" I told him.

"Yes sir" he answered, shaking. I got out of the car and walked into the hospital that looked familiar right now. The nurse I met greeted me.

"Morning, Mr. Elvano," greeted the nurses with a sweet smile as I passed them.

"Morning," I replied as I returned their smiles, which made them whisper to each other afterwards. Let it be, I don't really care what they whisper. My goal here is to see Devan, not for this.

Finally, I got to the front of the ICU room, and as usual I was obliged to wash my hands and wear sterile clothes from the hospital.

I sat down by Devan's bed and looked at his smiling peaceful face. 'Did I just feel or did he look different this morning?' my inner

"For Devan" I said to him.

"Why I wanted to see you this morning. I'm glad to see you look peaceful. I hope this is a good sign for you. I always pray the best for you, Van." I told him, as if - he would sit in front of me and listen to my words.

"I just want you to know that I will keep my promise to you. I want you to calm down and not worry. Since I'm going to take care of Kanaya, Clara and Alvaro, they're going to be fine" I said.

"Good road Devan. I wish you all the best, my friend" I said as I held her hand tightly like this was the last time I saw her.

Ah, it's relieved. I told her what I wanted to tell her. I hope this will calm him down and whatever happens to him is best for him. I think it's time to let it go, let it calm down there. And I hope that even Kanaya can let go like I did.

I came out of the ICU and was surprised to see Kanaya standing in front of the room with Alvaro and Clara.

I thought I was the only one who came so early to see Devan. Kanaya, Alvaro and Clara?

"Well, how are your mornings here?" aska I want to know.

"Mmm yes, Brother El. We want to talk to Devan." he said, smiling at Alvaro and Clara, giving them strength. Then he took them into the room.

I watched what they did that morning. They were chatting to Devan, like I just did. As if - will Devan be there and listen to them. But that morning, I felt like something was different.

"Hopefully this is best for all" said someone standing next to me. When I turned my head, I knew him as the Doctor who had been taking care of Devan all along.

"I mean Doctor?" I asked him to want to know, why he suddenly said that.

"Mother Kanaya has just signed the release of life support Mr. Devan," said the doctor, turning to me.

I was stunned, barely believing my hearing?

Kanaya signed? Kanaya had previously insisted on not wanting to sign the letter. Because he is sure, Devan will be healthy again. Has Kanaya given it up?

The Doctor's hand on my shoulder puffed me from my daydream.

"Seeklaskan Sir. Hopefully this is the best way for him" said the doctor. Before he walked away leaving me then I stared back at the three people who were talking and fell on Devan.
