Olvee twirled the glass filled with the alcoholic white liquid he was holding. He took a sip occasionally and turned the glass back. He should have put on a happy and cheerful facial expression at his sister's engagement. However, he did not look at all like a happy person for his sister's happy day.
“Hei girl, what are you doing here with your boo boo face?” Someone deliberately nudged Olvee's shoulder then embraced her familiarly which left Olvee aghast.
“Zara?” Olvee immediately changed her facial expression to a big smile while hugging her sidekick.
“You should put on a happy face on your sister's happy day. Not moody and silent alone like a broken hearted person!" Zara.
“I'm not heartbroken! I've only been lonely since no one's accompanied me,” Olvee denied.
“Really?” zara asked in a tone of doubt while squinting her eyes.
“Of course! There is no point in heartbreak,” replied Olvee who glanced at the end of his sentence.
“But I did not mention at all that you are heartbroken,” said Zara who made Olvee look annoyed at him.
“Vee,” greet someone from behind them both.
“Hai, Verald.” Olvee greeted the tall, cross-faced man back with a warm smile.
“For a long time no see,” said Verald while hugging Olvee.
“Old no meet,” reply Olvee. Then Verald took turns hugging Zara who was beside him.
“How are you? I thought you weren't coming,” asked Zara.
“I'm fine, as always. Since our family was close enough, of course my parents sent me here instead because they couldn't come.” Verald replied.
“Thank you for bothering to come to this event, Verald.” Verald shook his head. “As a tight friendship rope,” his timp.
Quietly, amidst the interaction between Olvee, Zara, and Verald, there was a pair of eyes that were watching them with dislike gazes. Especially when Olvee had hugged her and spread her smile occasionally in front of the man. The flames of jealousy burned him.
“Alvaro,” call his mother's voice.
“Iya, Ma?” sahut Alvaro turned to Flora.
“Don't daydream like that, quickly introduce Jihan to Papa's colleagues and you too.” Flora gave her orders which Alvaro inevitably obeyed.
Sometimes he kept turning to watch Olvee who was still cool chatting with the son of the Pero family. The focus is gone and only on Olvee. It felt like he was pulling Olvee and dragging her to stay by his side.
“Vee, I have to give my congratulations to Alvaro and Jihan. Since I arrived, I haven't greeted him.” Zara cut off their conversation to say goodbye.
“Then I will also join,” said Olvee preventing Zara's departure.
“You talk to Verald, or Verald come with us to say hello to Alvaro?” zara's Plan.
“No, I've done it. I will just enjoy this meal,” she replied as she looked at Olvee as if saying something through her net.
“Vee, preferably-”
“There's nothing else we'll talk about, so let's go.” Olvee immediately interrupted Zara and dragged her best friend away.
Through her gaze, Zara said why it was like this. However, Olvee shook his head in disapproval.
“Looks like that young Lord Pero likes you. Why do you ignore him?” zara asked not to understand.
“I just ... don't like it,” replied Olvee muttered.
“I doubt it,” Zara said without looking at Olvee.
Olvee's silence when talking about Verald, certainly makes suspicion if this friend likes Verald. However, in reality, he avoided Verald because he did not like him. It's not that stupid to know if Verald likes it. Unknowingly, his heart already liked Alvaro. Her sister.
“Zara,” greet Flora who first realized the presence of Zara.
“Tante, Om.” Zara immediately hugged the two in turns. Olvee's best friend has received equal treatment with the children of Zahir and Flora.
“Little boy who used to cry just because his chocolate was taken, will get married now.” Zara alternately hugged Alvaro and Jihan who seemed to be compatible with their clothes.
“Celine .. ” Alvaro said in a warning tone to his sister.
“Look at him who is shy in front of Jihan,” said Flora who teased Alvaro.
“Congratulations, yes, Alvaro, Jihan. I didn't expect you to be the girl who got this guy's cold heart." Unruled, Jihan's cheeks met red, hearing what Zara said.
Alvaro did not stop replying to Zara's words. In silence, Olvee noticed their interaction. Unknowingly crave the same thing as Jihan. Olvee shook her head because she had her brain craving something she shouldn't.
“See you look happy with young Mr. Pero, Vee.” Alvaro's cold-pitched voice rang out right in front of Olvee's ears making Olvee unconsciously shudder in horror.
“What is your business?” asked Olvee indifferently, as he usually relied on the poker face.
“Ma, Pa, Vee go home first because they feel bad.” Olvee turned to her parents for goodbyes.
In this many-man crowd was by no means Olvee's favorite. He is someone who tends to be introverted. Coupled with seeing Alvaro and Jihan that made his heart uncomfortable.
“Can Zara also come with me?” ask Olvee later.
“Sure, Dear. Rest and ask Bi Minah later to make porridge.” Flora said with her tone of anxiety.
“Iya, Ma.” Olvee passed away with Zara as soon as she was done with her conversation.
However, before he could get out, someone came between them. Being with a middle-aged woman beside him who was already paying attention to the surroundings, was as if judging the party decorations. The haughty face and judging gaze attached to the middle-aged face of the man made anyone guess who was this person who was so similar to Zahir.
The face of the Marveen family when they saw the presence of the two people was shocked because they did not expect. A person who had thrown away the Zahir family was present at the party held by his son. Mixed with hatred and dislike for both. No exception with Olvee who is more dominated by fear when seeing people called oma and opanya this.
“What business are you here for, Dear Lord Marveen?” Zahir came forward and asked directly to the father and head of the Marveen family. The family who threw it away a few years ago.
“There was a small party held by my son for my grandson's engagement, where might I not come?” His tone still remained as haughty as the year when Zahir was fed up with it all.
“You should be able to make a bigger and grander party than this if you don't leave the Marveen family, Zahir.” Laila Marveen commented.
“Alvaro, you are my successor as well. I've definitely been more able to find you a girl more on par with you, son.” Kenar Marveen said to Alvaro as he glanced at the frightened girl beside Alvaro, with an intimidating look.
“Big master Marveen, what does that mean for your condescending words?” Mr. Handreson, the father of Jihan said firmly because he could not accept the insult.
“You'd better get out because you weren't invited, Big Master Marveen.” Zahir banishes his father before the beak man further wreaks havoc.
“I'm also no longer welcome at this little party that is nothing much longer.” Kenar immediately intended to go with his wife who said nothing but put on her haughty face.
“Let's go, Laila," ask Kenar.
“You fake daughter family Marveen.” Laila stopped her steps as she was about to pass through Olvee who was standing in place.
“Whatever you act like my family's daughter, you won't be able to be Marveen's real daughter. Let's get that." Laila whispered in front of Olvee's ears which made her whole body shiver in fear.
