With a sense of reluctance I was with all the students in the class following Wendy's very fast steps to a room in which there were several tables with two small glasses filled with liquid coloured. One is red and the other is green.
In the room that was large enough, there were also three people who always served in the clinic. With a cue Wendy told us to take positions at each table.
As usual, Cleve and I have always chosen to be close. She stood at the table to my right while Marchi whose legs had improved was to my left.
During my time in the dark room, all the students in my class learned how to read and it seemed that they could all read. It made me a little happy because I would never get bored again watching them learn to read.
But somehow I feel that what we will learn this time is not a pleasant thing, let alone the presence of medics who usually work in clinics.
“Before the material how to kill or defend yourself, in this initial level you will be given special exercises for immunity,” said Wendy. “You see the liquid in front of you? First of all you will drink the red liquid and remember, after you drink, you must listen to my words and do so. After one minute you should immediately drink the green liquid.”
“What is this liquid?” Ask Cleve. As Cleve always asked in every practice, it seemed like that was his nature.
“You will know when you drink,” replied Wendy smiling.
Cleve and I looked at each other. I feel bad and I feel like there's something strange here.
“You ready? Listen to what I say otherwise you will regret.” continued Wendy.
Wendy looked at the watch she was wearing to see the time before we drank the red liquid. I swallowed my saliva and tried to concentrate because my instincts felt that this time it was a serious thing. I had to listen to Wendy, so I had to concentrate.
“Prepare, on the count of three you have to drink red liquid,” exclaimed Wendy. “One, two. Drink red liquid now.”
We all immediately drank the red liquid that was in front of us. When the liquid got into my throat, I felt my esophagus was very hot. I felt suffocated until it was hard to breathe.
I turned towards Cleve who was looking at me, without me noticing the tears. I'm having a hard time breathing but it looks like Cleve isn't like me.
Then what's wrong? All the other kids seem to have a hard time breathing like me. I thought I was going to die because my breathing was so heavy. What liquid do we drink?
“It was poison,” said Wendy. “Now listen to me, you guys must have a hard time breathing right? Breathe in and hold your breath, do not leave your eyes closed. Strain your muscles, and try not to attack the joints. You still have twenty seconds to drink the antidote and I hope you guys stick around.”
Suddenly Marchi fell and out of her mouth foam, two medical teams approached her. Not long after, another child fell down and pulled foam out of his mouth.
“Well now you can drink the antidote, the liquid is green.”
I quickly reached for the cup of green liquid on my desk and drank it.
My condition was almost improved and I started breathing regularly. But unexpectedly another student fell to the floor and pulled out foam mixed with blood. The medical team approached the boy.
Wendy gave us five glasses of water for each student and told us to finish it. He said if we drink a lot of water then the poison in our bodies will come out with our urine.
Wendy left the class because she had to take care of Marchi and the other two girls at the clinic. We were all scared of what we were going through. All the disciples felt that they were going to die just now and so did I.
“You're okay, right, Bee?” Cleve asked me.
I nodded. “Cleve, it seems like you didn't have a hard time breathing earlier?” I looked back at Cleve with a curious feeling because Cleve was able to survive without feeling hard to breathe.
“I did not drink it,” Cleve replied in a whisper. “I didn't swallow it until Wendy told me to drink the antidote. From the beginning I had thought that the liquid was poison so I did not find it difficult to breathe like you,” Cleve continued. “But it looks like I'm going to get in trouble because I'm sure that Wendy knows I didn't follow her instructions. I will definitely get a punishment.”
Girls who fall after drinking the antidote cannot be helped. The boy died because according to Wendy, the poison had already spread throughout his body and broke the blood vessels because that foam coming out of his mouth was mixed with blood.
We all feel sorry for the boy. The boy whose name I just found out is Sarah. I didn't know many names in class, but I was always watching their every move and Sarah seemed to be a pretty good girl.
I used to cross the street and she smiled at me. Let's hope Sarah is happy now so there is no need to face a terrible life in a place like this Deapectrum.
If I remember I was still scared, I really felt like I was going to die. Drinking poison was the most terrible thing to me but unfortunately according to the information that Wendy gave us we will drink the harmful substance every month so that our bodies get used to it so immune from all toxins in this world.
The poison is made from a mixture of snake venom and deadly poisonous plants. Every time we drink the poison, time is added before we drink the antidote, and it hurts me a lot. I always tried to survive because I didn't want to die from drinking the poison like Sarah. I have to stay strong to survive.
Mother calls Cleve to her room but she gets no punishment for cheating Cleve who does not drink poison following Wendy's instructions. Mother only warned him not to repeat it because if Cleve was cheating again he would get punished.
Surely Cleve didn't do it again. After listening to me regarding the dark room Cleve felt afraid and did not want to go to that place which is why Cleve would not make a mistake a second time.
