The next day after class I went to the roof of the dormitory alone. I was sitting on the roof of a building that was only two meters tall. I felt the wind flapping my hair.
Being in this high place made my feelings slightly improve. The distress that continued inside my chest momentarily disappeared due to the air that kept coming at me as well as the sunlight that gave off its rays like charging the power within my body.
After what happened I will live my life but from now on there are no more goals that make me excited. I will live everything like running water that always flows to a lower place. It was no longer like the fire getting smolder as the wind blew trying to extinguish it.
“Life is very difficult to live..” I muttered to myself. “But that doesn't mean it can't be lived, right?” I took a breath trying to throw everything that was happening in my life out of my current mind.
“Bee...” shouted someone from below. I looked up and saw Gumi waving her hand. “I'll be there.” Gumi smiled broadly.
It wasn't long before Gumi reached the roof, where I was. I looked at him as he opened the door to the roof.
“You see, this is cool right?” Gumi showed me the blindfold placed on her right eye. The blindfold was black and made of an expensive looking material. “I became like a pirate, right?” Gumi smiled broadly.
I'm getting less and less understanding of Gumi's nature. How could he smile so widely when he lost one of his eyes?
“Hey, what's up?” Tanya Gumi climbed up the side of the roof and sat down beside me. “Wah, here is really a great place. I can see the whole island of Poegriye.”
“Not to overdo it. This place is only on the fifth floor how can you see the entire island from this place?” Excruciate.
“No problem right overdo it for small things?” Gumi said after that laughing.
“Definitely difficult to see with just one eye?” I stared at.
“No,” replied Gumi lightly. “After a few days, I'm used to it. But if you ask that at the beginning I experienced it for sure I will answer very difficult... hehe..”.
“How can you laugh after you lost one eye?”
“You're so mean, Bee,” muttered Gumi was singing her lips. “But I still have this one eye, right? Even if I lose both my eyes I still have both my ears and if I also lose both my ears I still have—”
“Then if you lose all, how?” I looked at Gumi seriously, cutting off her words.
“I will be grateful because I once had it all,” replied Gumi ended with her smile as wide as her trademark. “Cleve's condition hasn't changed yet huh?”
“I don't know when he'll be back as the old Cleve,”. “Even he was silent when Tiffany beat him.”
“Then you beat up Tiffany? Right?”
“Tell me what happened until you lost your eyes and why did Nem get killed too? Is your job so hard this time?”
“Very difficult,” replied Gumi lightly. “Nearly fifty well-trained guards guard our target. Therefore Nem gave the idea to put a bomb in his palace-like residence but Nem and the others could not escape before the bomb exploded. Then the broken glass hit my eyes, while Lise—, my friend who survived, lost her left hand. It's really terrible. I'd better be in Deapectrum forever.”
“What is the name of the country?”
“Fansidokia.. it is located next to our beloved country.”.
“In the country the summit of Mount Evertnes is located and there is Archie Island.” I said after that catch my breath. “I'd love to go to that place.”
“No, no! You don't go there! It's so creepy in there. They always ask for your identity and look at you like you this is a delicious meal ready to eat,” Gumi said to make me smile. “I prefer to be in Deapectrum although lately this place is not too free.”
“Gumi, why haven't you told me about my hut?” I yelled annoyed when I remembered about my hut. “We went to the hut, but it wasn't my hut I found but a restaurant. Why didn't you tell me?”
“Te—calm down first,” exclaims Gumi with confused face. “I completely forgot to tell you. Every time I see you I suddenly don't remember that. It seems like someone bewitched me so they forgot to tell you,” Gumi said looking for an excuse. “You understand, right?”
“One more thing, why did you hand over my grandmother's ashes to them? They destroyed everything. Though you know that it is a valuable thing for me?”
“If it is, I am also surprised when I come back,” replied Gumi looking at me. “I left all my gear here and when I came back all my stuff was messy, even they took my earrings. They thought it was yours too,” continued Gumi. “Ah, how much I suffered. If you knew I would lose those earrings because of you I wouldn't have brought you here. Those earrings cost a lot, you know?” Gumi glanced at me in annoyance.
“Hey, come on.. I'm just kidding.” Gumi. “I'm not serious about what I said earlier,” Gumi said looking at me with her smile. “Bee, do you regret being in this place?” suddenly Gumi's way of speaking became serious. “You must be sorry, right? It's a normal thing even I used to feel it but I always tried to eliminate that regret,” says Gumi.
I looked at him who was staring into the distance. Her long hair was blown off by the wind and I could see that at this moment one of her eyes was left red, either from being exposed to dust or she was holding back tears.
“Bee, promise me that you will continue to fight until you pass the final exam,” continued Gumi is still seriously looking far ahead, I continue to look at her. “Hey, what do you see?” Suddenly Gumi looked at me. “After you pass the final exam you have to treat me, you hear me?!” Gumi's exclaim ended his big smile.
My footsteps were very heavy when I left class after class. As usual Cleve always returned to our dorm after class was over. He just left and ignored my existence. Not once did he make his voice after we were caught, but six months had passed. I really miss her old self.
I always tried to lure him to talk but it was all in vain, Cleve always locked his mouth never even once he saw my eyes.
Every class after I go to the clinic to chat with Aquielle there. I need a friend to talk to and since Gumi is rarely in college, I always see Aquielle even if it's just a casual chat to learn the plants and their functions.
If there was no Aquielle I would have gone mad because there were no interlocutors. I miss Ian, too. If only he existed, I would have always met him to chat about anything like before.
“If it is not wrong you are Miss Bee, right?” Suddenly someone stood in front of me as I was about to go to the clinic.
I lifted my face and saw the man. It turns out he's Mr. Burney.
“Can we talk?” Ask.
Together with Mr. Burney I sat in the iron chair in front of the clinic room. It seems that Mr. Burney just got out of the clinic.
I've actually seen him in this college a lot before, but I don't understand what he's here for, and what he did just now at the clinic?
“I just delivered the medicine,” said Mr. Burney as if he could read the question in my head. “All the needs in this college I take care of it. If something runs out I should fill it up immediately.”
“Where are all the items you gave to this college?” I asked without thinking. I turned to Mr. Burney but he seemed to be surprised at my question. “Sorry, if I wrongly ask.”
“No, no problem,” replied Mr. Burney trying to smile but his bushy mustache covered his lips so I could not see if it was a smile or a grin. “Actually this college was founded by a wealthy businessman who was incorporated in a fairly large organization, and it was that organization that supplied all the necessities in this college.”
“What is the name of the organization?” I asked again to look at Mr. Burney. Implied a tension from the look of his face. “It doesn't matter if you don't tell me, sir.”
“Nona, did you say your name was Klay-Bee?” Asked Mr. Burney and I nodded. “That name was taken from your mother's clothes when she gave birth to you?”
“What's up, sir?”
“Then where is your mother, now?” Ask Mr. Burney again.
“She died after giving birth to me,” I replied. “Actually what's up, sir? You seem to be thinking of something?”
“Actually there is something I want to ask you again to go out, but I'd better ask after you pass the final exam,” said Mr. Burney looking at me. “I have to go now. We'll continue our conversation after you graduate.”
Mr. Burney stood up.
“I hope you pass the final exam, miss, so we can catch this conversation.”
After saying so, Mr. Burney bent his body to leave, then left me.
The list of questions in my head increased after hearing Mr. Burney's words. What exactly was Mr. Burney asking me? And why would he want to ask something that seemed so secretive? Does it have anything to do with my mother giving birth to me? Does she know who my mother was and knew her family before she was banished to this land?
“What's up, Bee?” Suddenly Aquielle came out of the clinic and blew my mind off the mystery questions that I had never thought about at all. “Why are you daydreaming? Come log in!”
I got up and walked into the clinic trying to forget everything Mr. Burney told me.
