DEAPECTRUMS
003. SURVIVING

We were both silent staring at the fire engulfing Isbell's body. Jatnera was still sobbing even though his crying had subsided.

Suddenly I heard the footsteps of some people from a distance. My hearing is very sharp because I did train him to avoid criminals. I immediately took three handfuls of Isbell's burnt ashes even though the body was not completely burned, then put it in a plastic bottle I found with a bottle of liquor I used to burn Isbell's body.

"We have to go now..."

"I don't want to go yet." Jatnera looked at me.

"Some people are walking towards this place. They must be bad people." Seruku convinced Jatnera who was wiping tears on his cheek. "Grandma must have told us to go too."

"really?" Tanya Jatnera came down from the large rocks she was sitting on.

I nodded. "Hold this!" Excited to give me a bottle containing Isbell's ashes. I immediately picked up the crate that was lying on the ground. "Let's hurry!!"

Jatnera ran in front of me. I followed him and told him to run as fast as possible. I heard footsteps running after us. But we got to our house and immediately closed the door.

I peeked out of the hole in the door. No one showed up. That means they can't come after me. We're survivors.

With a sigh of relief I fell to the floor wrapped in a worn carpet that had changed color from red to slightly tanned.

I turned to Jatnera whose breathing was panting. But only darkness I see because there is not a single light in here. Using my instinct I headed to the table where a lantern was. I lit a fire on the lantern with a match lying next to it.

Besides hearing, I also have good eyesight in the dark. Both advantages make me always lucky to live in this creepy place.

Jatnera shivered in coldness as I approached him. Her lips turned blue and her face was pale. I remember Isbell before he died. I just lost someone precious to me and I don't want to lose anyone anymore.

I took off Jatnera's clothes and replaced them with new ones. His body was hot as if it was about to explode. Then he'll die like Isbell.

"Bee, please don't leave me." The weakly lying Jatnera. I saw his face with a dim light coming from the lantern I placed beside the Jatnera. She cried with her cat's gaze. "Grandma's gone, so don't leave me."

I stood up and avoided his gaze. I took off my clothes and replaced them with new ones. After running my legs are very tired and my stomach feels hungry because it has not eaten since yesterday.

It's four o'clock in the morning, at sunrise I'll go to the treasure hole. No, I'd better leave now, because if the sun rises there will be a lot of people who will also go to that place. I looked at the black bag on the table, I picked it up and saw the contents. It turned out to be a pack of food that Isbell gave her. Better Jatnera eat this so that his energy is restored.

"It's eating." I gave the food to the Jatnera.

"Where are you going?" Ask Jatnera who woke up from her sleeping position to me who was getting ready to leave. "Don't leave me Bee, I beg you." Jatnera started crying. "I promise I won't cry anymore."

I approached the crying Jatnera and looked at him.

I pulled Jatnera into my arms.

"You sure hate me, don't you, so after Grandma died, you wanted to leave me?"

"Stupid." My speech. "Because grandma's no more we should stick together. I'm not leaving you."

"Where are you going?" Jatnera looked at me.

"Hare hole." My answer. "I'll find you a cure. They must've filled that hole last night so before a lot of people got to that place I had to get there first."

Birds continue to chirp even though the sun has not yet come down. Armed with a black plastic bag from the food stepper I went down the rocks and entered the forest area after walking far.

The treasure hole was inside the iron fence that was in the middle of the forest. With a broken fence I can infiltrate into the fence. But I saw a man in a treasure pit looking for the things he wanted.

I hid behind a rock that was so big. The treasure hole is where everyone 'shops' at Deapectrum, but 'shopping' is not in the real sense.

In the hole that is very wide and in it there are many objects that we can use. They are like clothes, tools, medicine, and even food. But these objects are not all in conditions that can be used because in fact they are garbage from various countries that are deliberately disposed of in this place.

But it is not uncommon to get an object that still looks good. I was thinking maybe it was deliberately thrown into this place so that we who are here can use it.

Maybe someone deliberately made the item trash so that one of his family who was thrown into this place can use it, he said, or there is one of the social bodies in free countries that collect those items and donate them to this place. But for sure this treasure hole is so valuable that we have to fight with others who also want the same thing, not even infrequently groups of criminals kill people who take things in this place.

Behind a very large stone I waited for the man who was still looking for the things he needed in the treasure hole. I don't know when the man stopped filling the sack he was carrying while hunger was already engulfing me even now I feel sleepy. I can't go home empty-handed because Jatnera's condition is so bad right now.

Should I just go straight to the treasure hole and look for drugs without caring about the man. But I don't know if that man is a good man or a bad man. He could have killed me.

Finally after half an hour I waited for the man to come out of the treasure hole with the sack filled and immediately rushed out of this place. I scanned the surroundings to make sure no one else was here before rushing into the treasure pit. It seems that there's no one here anymore.

With a rare thousand I went to the treasure pit and immediately searched for things that could be useful to me and the Jatnera but medicine was my priority. I only had fifteen minutes because the sun was almost completely down. I have to move fast.

By trying to contain the hunger that struck me I went into the treasure pit and rummaged through my top priority, the cure for the Jatnera.

My esophagus feels dry and I want to drink because being in this hot place makes me thirsty. In the area of this treasure hole is very dry without ever falling rain. I kept searching in every pile of things that partially gave off an unpleasant smell but I still hadn't found what I was looking for.

My stomach is so painful now. I'm changing my search now, I need to find food for me to eat now but it looks like that guy's been draining all the food. I fell limp on top of that pile of trash.
