Sword training with Mom I've been going through almost the next year. During that time I learned a lot of swordsmanship from him, even I was able to use two swords with both hands.
I didn't think that Mom was a swordsman before. Though Gumi said in Gyeld Enn Chourius college, no one mastered swordsmanship. Maybe because before the mother did not show her swordsmanship to the students because she was not a teacher so Gumi did not know that Mother mastered many swordsmanship. Actually I feel lucky because Mom wants to teach me.
Every practice goes Mother who is always cold just a little talk to me. There was not even a conversation beyond what he taught me about swords.
He trained me so hard he didn't even hesitate to hit me with a sword sheath when I lost a duel with him. I have never once been able to get him cornered when he fought a sword. He who is old remains agile and strong, his abilities are not swallowed by time. That's what made me so angry with him.
Even this training time he made me fall down while hitting my back with the sword sheath he used when dueling. If only he had used a sword instead of a sword sheath and again if this had not been an exercise I would have died being pierced by it a thousand times.
“Alright enough here,” exclaimed Mother threw the sword sheath she used when dueling at me.
I took the scabbard and put my sword in it. “Sorry Mom, may I ask you something?” I ventured to speak when Mom was about to walk away from me.
“Ask about what?” Mother looked at me who was standing at a distance of five meters from her.
“I know you won't answer it, but I really want to know about the final exam. But what I want to ask is, what do you think Cleve should accept that recommendation or not?”
“You asked Gumi, right?” Mom and I answered him. “So you already know my answer.”
After saying that, Mom walked away from me.
So Mom meant she would also answer that Cleve should accept the recommendation? What's the matter, actually? I feel something bad when I think about the final exam.
Cleve wanted to graduate with me and if he chose to accept that recommendation, it would mean that he would graduate first. I don't care if Cleve graduates first from me that way he'll tell me about the final exam to help me, but what if he passes first he'll tell me? He will definitely be banned from talking about the final exam to me like Gumi and the others.
But it's best if Cleve still accepts that recommendation because I feel like it would be better if so.
“Bee...” Suddenly Cleve ran up to me as I was about to get into college after training with Mom. “This.”
“What's up? What's wrong?” I was confused because Cleve looked so anxious.
“Pak Ekman, Ian's father passed away this afternoon.” Cleve replied trying to catch his breath that sounded panting from running. “I heard when some slaves talked about it while they were cleaning toilets. We have to see Ian.”
Cleve and I ran towards the slave settlement near the kitchen. The two of us headed for a hut made only of wood that had been the residence of Ian and his father. When we got to the hut we saw no one there. When we turned around about to look elsewhere Ian suddenly appeared.
“Ka..we just heard that your father..” Cleve stopped talking when he saw the look on Ian's face that looked very sad even though there were no tears flowing out. Cleve immediately hugged her. “Ian, you're okay right?” cleve asked looking at Ian.
“I just finished burning his body.” said Ian.
Hearing his words brought me back to mind when I burned Isbell's dead body. I felt that the day I burned Isbell's body was the saddest day for me. And now surely today is the saddest day for Ian because all this time he only lived with his father after his mother died ten years ago. I mean today was also one of the worst days for Ian other than the day he had to shoot his own mother.
“Bee, say something to him.” Cleve looked at me making me realize from my daydream.
“A...I don't know what to tell you.” I said staring at Ian. “But don't give up on staying alive.” I held Ian's left arm with my right hand.
I lay in my bed at dinnertime. I prefer to rest and not have dinner. Ian's father's death is troubling my mind at this moment. Ian must have felt very sad and did not know what to do after his father was gone. That's what I experienced when I lost Isbell. After this will Ian remain a slave on this island? I feel like if Ian wasn't a slave it would be better for him. He could leave this island and go out there. Especially now that Deapectrum is not as scary as it used to be because there are currently security soldiers who secure Deapectrum, it means everything will go better out there.
“Nothing. I'm just daydreaming.”
Me, Cleve and Marchi went out of college to get to where we used to train with Ian but not like Ian was not there. Ian always comes first and waits for us but tonight he didn't come. We thought about going to his hut because it felt like Ian didn't want to train tonight. Today his father passed away and it seems like he is still feeling sad that he does not want to train with us.
The three of us reached Ian's hut. When Cleve knocked on the door Ian told us to come in. The three of us without thinking for a long time immediately went inside his hut. Inside Ian was busy collecting all his belongings on the wooden table. She did not care about our presence and was still busy looking for something in her wardrobe.
“What's up, Ian?” ask Cleve. “Where are you going?” Cleve noticed some of the clothes Ian had placed on the table. “Don't say you want to escape.” Cleve's words ignored Ian, he just wanted to be busy surrounding his house to find something. “My answer, Ian!!” shouted Cleve.
“Yes, I want to go from here.” replied Ian quitting his activities and staring at us.
“Where do you want to go?” ask Marchi.
“Do not know. I just don't want to be in this place anymore.” said Ian, looking sad from the glare of his eyes. “After there was no one here I wanted to leave and did not want to live as a slave. I'll escape.”
“They will kill the slaves who try to escape,” I said.
“I know,” timpal Ian looked at me. “But I'll keep going. I want to live free and not be a slave.”
“You still have us here, stupid!” Shouted Cleve full of emotions. “You want to leave us?” Cleve asked, this time his tone weakened.
“Sorry, I don't want to be here longer..”.
“I'm coming with you,” I said snatching Ian's words. All eyes looked at me after what I said. “I also want to get out of this place.”
“Bee, what are you talking about?” Cleve looked at me with a look of disbelief.
“I heard out there already in the form of security guards because it looks like an organization wants to form a government in this country,” I said trying to make Cleve sure of my words. “And I want to see the boy because I'm sure he's in Deapectrum at the moment.” I looked at Cleve.
“Then we will go together.l,” Cleve replied. “I'll also go with you.” added Cleve looked at me then looked at Ian.
“No you don't have to come. You should accept that recommendation and take the exam later this year, Cleve,”. “They will definitely kill you if you escape.”
“They will also kill you, fool,” Cleve said. “We go together or I won't let you go?”
“Wait a minute, what does this mean?” Ian looked confused. “You're just kidding right and not really leaving this place?”
“It's best not tonight.”
“That's right, better tomorrow night we will go from this island,” Cleve continued adding my remarks. “How do you agree right?” Cleve held onto Ian's right shoulder with his left hand. “Actually I have long wanted to leave for fear of contracting the blondie's disease.”
“You guys, that's right.. I can't believe it's going to be like this,” said Ian.
“So the three of you will be leaving Poegriye Island?” Tanya Marchi looked at the three of us. “Alright then. I'll stay here and I won't say anything to them,” continued Marchi with an end to a smile that made her eyes seem closed because of squinting.
