The moment Tomoka opened her eyes, the first thing she saw was a beautiful blue sky with white clouds. Subtle things floated in the vast blue without a care in the world. Sometimes he wondered how comfortable it would be to take a nap on top of them. He understood that the clouds were just a collection of condensed water but still, they looked extremely soft.
[Hey you, you're finally awake.]
It made Tomoka laugh. He recognized that phrase. Iconic memes that are still in use even after twenty years. He wondered if Kurama had read his memories or if it was just a coincidence.
[What's so funny?] Looks like the last option. Tomoka spent some time explaining to Kurama about the culture of the meme and the meme. However, his mind was in another place as he did. As soon as he finished explaining******* tired out of his lips.
"What am I doing?" He felt tired, not physically strong, after all this was his mindscape. The grasslands as far as the eye can see. With different patches of forest here and there. In the center was a giant lake with clear water. Floating about ten meters above the calm water was a huge building.
His mind palace, a place that contained all his thoughts and memories. The giant building looked like a child of love between the stone castle and the wooden library. If someone entered it, they would find a labyrinth of corridors and doors. He plans to fill that thing with Genjutsu traps for anyone trying to lurk in his head. At the end of the labyrinth, a gigantic library of thousands of books stood in all its splendor.
[What do you mean]
“I'm almost dead, Kurama. I almost died again”
[You look fine, you even say you don't care]
“False bravery, I'm scared to death. When I used static field jutsu, I panicked. I didn't want to die, so I tried my hardest. Tomoka's mental body began to die. From his usual twenty-five-year-old mental self to his actual four-year-old self. The girl started sobbing softly in an attempt to hide it from the fox.
“I'm a fool, Kurama. I was only four years old! I could have died. Training and real combat are not the same. There's no need for me to go all out like that. What I think! ”
As his rant continued, Tomoka's tears flowed. Answering his unstable thoughts, the mindscape became increasingly chaotic. Even the mind palace creaked and groaned under the pressure.
Tomoka was really angry at herself. He's a complete idiot, a moron, brain-dead. He could have died. He repeated those words to himself repeatedly. It was until something soft curled up around him. Warm and soft like the softest blanket he had ever touched.
[I won't deny that you're an idiot. However, you win, you can learn from your mistakes and improve. It is okay to fear death, even I fear death and I am effectively immortal. You are alive now and that is all that matters.]
Tomoka took a deep breath and tried to calm herself down. Opening his eyes again, he saw one of Kurama's tails on it acting like a blanket while the other served as a pillow and a mattress. The giant fox was looking elsewhere trying to exude disinterest in the current situation. Feeling much better and a little mischievous, Tomoka hugged Kurama's tail while rubbing her face.
"So soft" Whispered the contents out of Tomoka's lips
[OI! what do you think you are.] Looking down Kurama saw a four-year-old little Tomoka curled up to his tail. Her gentle breath told her that Tomoka had fallen asleep again. A strange feeling he had never felt before bubbled up in his chest.
Deciding to allow her this time a small smile appeared on the fox's face as she curled up for a nap as well.
{I think twerp is sometimes funny. Not that I'll ever admit it}
