Time passed as Tomoka read book after book in the library at an astounding pace. The little girl was so engrossed in reading that she forgot that she was sitting on her mother's lap. This small hiccup causes Himiko to once again reaffirm her belief that her cute troublemaker is a genius. The proud mother enjoyed spending her time stroking her daughter's soft, silky hair.
Tomoka on the other hand was reading, analyzing, comprehending, cataloguing, and storing every word and small detail she got from the book into her mental library. The process was boring, yet he enjoyed every second of it. As what some call a nerd, he enjoys getting new information, even if the info seems useless at the time.
The subject this time a lot of biology books and medical books. From chakra pathways to medicinal plants, he had read and memorized as much as he could. His mind was buzzing with the theories he made as he left. But as the saying goes: "all good things must end"
"Dear Tomoka, it's time to go home, it's late" Himiko shook Tomoka slightly to attract her attention. Looking outside, one could see the sky with a beautiful black to orange gradation.
"No way!" Tomoka was too engrossed in reading that she did not care about the upcoming night. In his past life, he had spent days directly connected to his computer to conduct research. He was willing to keep reading all night and continue the next day as well. However, Himiko would not let it.
"That's not a question, I'm just telling you" With a gentle smile and steel eyes Himiko took the troubled child under her arms like a sack of potatoes. Tomoka has not given up. He grabbed the table with all his might, unwilling to let go. But who's Tomoka's mother? An experienced jounin there was no way the little boy would win this fight.
With an amused smile Himiko put her index finger on the nape of Tomoka and gave a hint of surprise. This was enough for the boy to shout in shock and take off the table while glaring at his mother angrily.
While chuckling Himiko started walking home, not letting go of her child. It didn't take long for the two to get home. The rest of the night is spent peacefully as Tomoka decides to relax with his mother, by competing with her in throwing kunai, not the smartest idea as Tomoka is thoroughly and mercilessly destroyed.
A few hours later Tomoka was lying on her bed thinking about her day. He felt a little strange and conflicted about his behavior. It felt natural at the moment, but now that he was calmly analyzing it, he couldn't help but cringe at her childish behavior.
'Surprisingly I've grown up inside, but here I'm acting like a child' said Tomoka, trying to get some of his frustration out of it.
[I don't see the problem, you're still a kid now so it would be even stranger if you didn't act like that]
That statement or rather, the first part brought some ideas to Tomoka's mind. What if his behavior had more to do with his body than his mind. He's actually still a kid now. His body was still mature, even his brain was not fully matured. This may be the reason why his behavior is sometimes so childish.
'You are a genius!' Tomoka could not help but praise her fox friend. If the theory is correct then childish behavior is not his fault or something to worry about. However, confirming the theory was almost impossible. Not that he cared, in his mind this theory was as good as the confirmed facts.
[I know me] Kurama doesn't know what he's saying or doing to get Tomoka to suddenly praise him, but he won't see the mouth of a talented horse.
With a smile, a full stomach after a good dinner, Tomoka's peace of mind fell asleep in fear of the torment that would go to school the next day. Overall, Tomoka can say with one hundred percent certainty that she is enjoying her second chance at life.
