Eps. #49 Tsunami

Arkha's hand trembled violently while looking at the screen of his phone. News of the earthquake was published everywhere, all media reported about the incident, and immediately became a trending topic in all channels on the internet. Updates - updates about earthquake information also fill the internet pages, which news is right, which is wrong, which is sure on the internet there are many fake news spread in such emergency situations.

Haven't had time to sort and read all the news, suddenly the shock happened again. Arkha and Rendy who were sitting on the sofa were shocked to feel her apartment building shake again, aftershocks happening again, but only briefly with the strength of the shock that was not as big as before.

People were scattering out again, the atmosphere was still very gripping and the screams were heard again.

"Another aftershock, Boss!" rendy exclaimed in panic and immediately stood up from his seat.

Arkha remained unmoved, his concern for Pearl's safety making her freeze in her seat.

Rendy snatched the television remote on the desk and immediately searched for a news channel. It was certain that news of the earthquake was immediately seen by him.

Rendy and Arkha equally widened their eyes when they saw the television screen, a recent news that said that a large tsunami wave had occurred in the southern region. The tsunami waves were reported to have climbed to the mainland and sunk small island islands in the area including the island where Mutiara and Pak Imran live. Tsunamis have also damaged and ravaged the fishing villages on the coast, casualties are inevitable.

It happened so quickly, that tsunami early warning from the Meteorology Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) did not reach the remote island in the region. Many people there are victims because they did not have time to save themselves.

"Pearl!" yelled Arkha stuck. Her tears just dripped as she watched the news on television. His mouth trembled without being able to say a word, his gaze was pushy, his heart was rumbling extremely violently even beyond the shock of the earthquake that was felt before.

"No! this news must be wrong, Rendy! I can't believe it!" he said softly as he wiped the tears on his cheek and hit his own head.

His heart was simply unaccepting, a news that was extremely soul-stifling, and left him unable to think what else was at that moment.

"Silence, Boss. Patience first, this news we have not checked the truth again. I will try to contact my men who are in the south, hopefully there is good news from there," said Rendy trying to calm Arkha who looks more worried and sad.

The sound of notification of a short message was heard on Rendy's phone and immediately read it.

Rendy rounded his eyes again, a message sent by his men in charge of overseeing the port and said that the tsunami waves had also reached the port, but just like the usual tidal wave did not have much impact until in the city because the epicenter was quite far from the port.

"Tide waves have arrived at the port, boss. That means the tsunami has indeed happened." said Rendy flat, he could increasingly feel the turmoil that Arkha felt at that time, especially the news on television continued to report the same thing.

"Arrghhh....! no!" decak Arkha rubbed his face rough and slapped his own cheek, "was I dreaming?" he thinks it's getting worse.

"Oh my God, why did it go like this? my gut feeling turned out to be right, something bad has happened" she said in frustration.

"Pearl, what happened to him and Mr Imran on the island? Dear God, please give salvation to both of them," she prayed with her growing fear that she could not contain.

"Patience, Boss. Until now there has been no definitive news about the casualties from this disaster, I will send my men to the location to find out all the victims' data!" firmly Rendy while rubbing the back of Arkha who looks very sad.

Rendy immediately plays his finger on the screen of his phone and is busy calling his men to find the latest news about the disaster that is happening.

Television also continued to broadcast news of the tsunami. Arkha was only able to monitor the development of the news through the television screen and also his cellphone, anxiety and fear continued to haunt him.

Time continued and night had come, but Arkha was getting more and more agitated. News of disaster victims continues to be monitored, he really hopes there is good news about Pearl and the fishing village where he lives.

Many times he tried to contact Genta, but was not connected. HT and his phone were inactive, which made his anxiety even more so.

"Pearl, I'm sorry, honey!" muttered.

"I regret leaving you on that island, if only I had taken you and Mr. Imran with me at that time, surely you would have been safe here." he said.

"May you survive, I can't afford to lose you, Pearl," she hoped, tears coming back down her cheeks, Arkha couldn't help her anxiety.

Until that day changed, not a second could Arkha close his eyes. He continued to pray that Mutiara and Imran survived the tsunami that hit the fishing village where he lived.

Arkha looked back at the screen of the mobile phone that was always in his grasp, opening the message that Rendy had just sent to him, opening it, the message contained sheets in pdf format with letters from the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB). A list of the names of the victims who died and disappeared due to the tsunami is on the page.

One by one the sheets were read, almost all the names listed there were names that he did not know, but Arkha suddenly widened his eyes, pearl and Imran's names are written on the last page of the list.

"No way, no..!" arkha shouted with her body immediately limp sitting on the floor of her room.

His fist hit the floor so hard that his fingers were injured and fresh blood dripped from the wound.

"Pearl, why is it like this? you left me so soon, baby!" his sobbing was crying.

"No! this news must be wrong, I can't believe Pearl and Mr Imran are dead, they must be safe, I'll pick them up now!"

Arkha stood up from his seat, grabbed the keys to the car at the nightstand and stepped out of his apartment.

Arkha grabbed the doorknob, as the door of her apartment opened, Arkha flinched as Rendy was already at the door and looked at her flatly.

"Where are you going, boss?" asked Rendy while holding Arkha's shoulder trying to get out of her apartment.

"I have to find out about Pearls, Rendy! I can't believe the news you sent me. I'm sure Pearl and Mr. Imran are safe, I'll pick them up now!" Arkha.

"Don't act recklessly, Boss! where are you going to pick them up?" Rendy grinned.

"You know the island where they've been drowned by the tsunami, where are you going to look?" ketus Rendy again.

"I'm going to the refugee barracks, I'm sure they're there!" sahut Arkha's.

"Boss, I understand your concern! then how are you going to go there? what is swimming in the middle of the sea?" Back Rendy grinned as she pushed Arkha back into her apartment and closed the door.

The two sat on the living room couch.

Arkha took a deep breath, "what should I do, Rendy? I really can't afford to lose Pearl, I can't bear the fact that she's gone!" arkha said as she shook her head and her face looked even sadder.

"You don't have to do anything, boss. As long as you know, I am also sad to know this news," said Rendy showed her empathy for Arkha.

"Then do you think by following him there you will be able to easily find them there, Boss? you know the island is very far away, there are no planes or ships that can reach the place, the facilities and infrastructure are completely destroyed there, how can you get there?" ask Rendy with her advice.

Rendy shook her head and smiled bitterly, she could very well understand the sadness that Arkha felt at that time. The sadness has also made him lose his logic so that he intends to follow Pearl to the island which has now been sunk by the tsunami and is also very far from the city.
