Re:START/If {Book 1.0}
Chapter 69: Regalia I (Part 01)

The silence of the night, the darkness illuminated by the cluster of stars and the breeze that blows lightly through the sidelines of the building. At the end of the crossing, Odo Luke sets foot on one of the streets of the artisan district.

As far as the eye could see it was completely deserted, even all the light on the buildings along the way had been turned off. Returning to recall what had been done in Atelier Hulla, Odo briefly sighed lightly. Not because the time he spent there was more than his original plan when it came, but because he spoke of some unnecessary things related to knowledge from the previous world.

“Why do I have a habit of explaining such things to others?” the young man stopped his feet.

Odo momentarily fell silent, began to be confused and turned back to his back. While putting on a flat expression, he in his mind wondered why he had walked this far from the Workshop instead of directly using the Puddle to return to the Mansion.

Accidentally squinting due to confusion, the Soul's Vision activated by itself and its visual abilities instantly changed. It was exactly as when he first copied Arteria's Inner Eye ability, that all soul forms of living beings could be clearly seen.

As if without space restrictions, Odo can see small fires in each building. One person has two points of fire, adjacent to each other and located on the head and chest to the left. That location is the connecting point of a soul on the body, the source of the mind and the source of life.

For the second time he activated the power, Odo began to understand the difference between the flames. The color, size, until the shape of the blaze symbolizes the soul itself, telling the young man the soul personality of the person he sees and what they are doing.

“Hmm, even I can tell the difference in their souls despite not seeing the person directly. Is this one part of the power of Soul Vision?” muttered Odo while closing his eyes.

Taking a light breath, the young man calmed down and disabled one of his eye abilities.

“Well, I better not rely too much on this power. The world seemed too shiny until my head was dizzy,” his mind as he turned and stepped back.

But just as he was about to activate Puddle with his left hand, his footsteps came to a standstill when he saw a woman walking towards him with a downcast face. Not feeling any ill will or hostility, Odo was not immediately alert and stood upright.

The woman hit herself, then fell to the ground limply. The woman with long grey hair could not get up immediately, she staggered and fell back. At first glance Odo looked in wonder and thought that the woman was a drunkard. When reaching out to help the woman wake up, she did not smell the alcohol.

Odo observed the woman in the simple brown dress. The straps on the leather buckle he was wearing were not tied neatly, his clothes looked crumpled despite looking expensive, and only one of his legs was wearing leather shoes. Seeing that he did not immediately grab a hand and tried to get up on his own, Odo again thought that the woman was drunk.

But as he grabbed the woman's hand and pulled her up, Odo quickly noticed. The woman's wrist felt cold and so small. Slightly rolling up the sleeves of the woman's dress, Odo's face immediately turned gloomy when he saw her veins clearly visible on the surface even though her skin and palms were so smooth.

Looking at the woman's face, Odo immediately understood that she was an addict. White slightly yellowed eyes, pale face, and breathless breathing. Under the woman's nostrils was still a white powder, as her mouth was slightly open even though her tongue was slightly purple.

“Addictor, yes? If not wrong this woman from the prostitution district,” Odo's mind while holding tightly his hand and starting to frown.

The woman was Yor’an Botan, a Courtesan of the Jasmine Embroidery House. Seeing the woman who had proudly teased him instead depended on narcotics, in Odo's mind was angry until his teeth were bluffing.

“Release!” Yor’an tried to pull his hand from Odo's grasp, so weakly and without energy. In his mind, he felt that even a small child could wriggle even stronger. Started beating Odo and trying to escape, he cursed, “Fuck base …! Khuka is! Huue⁓! Uwaha⁓! Ha⁓! Why are you still here! Don't get in the way, you ugly! Move there! Let go, you ugly bastard! It's rotten! You're nothing to me, so don't get in the way and disappear⁓! Uhuhu ⁇ !”

“Halusination due to Overdose, yes?” muttered Odo while releasing Yor’an's hand.

The woman staggered and almost fell again. He put on a face full of happiness in euphoria, drowned in hallucinations and started walking forward. Odo immediately stepped out of his way, letting the pitiful woman go.

For a moment Odo was silent and just stared at his back, thinking of how could a woman like him end up like that. From the behavior and level of Overdose, he estimated that Yor’an had consumed narcotics long before meeting with him.

Odo immediately realized who it was. Highlight his eyes turned flat, recalling some plants in pots that were hung on Atelier Hulla. Understanding who was capable of making such a medicine, he did not immediately get angry and thought about it carefully.

The young man himself understood the personality of Luna or the witches who hitched a ride in the Hulla Workshop. In his mind he felt that it was impossible for them to make such a thing as illegal drugs to seek profit. Recalling Madam Theodora's words about pregnancy-preventing drugs, she felt that addiction was a side effect of the drug.

“I know that there are several types of Contraceptive Drugs that can be addictive. But ..., how much did he drink to become an acute addict? If it gets like that, tuh woman instead of her womb is finished.”

Odo let out a light sigh, feeling that the problem he had to solve had increased after knowing about it. For night flowers, it seems, medication to prevent pregnancy is very important. Although they knew the side effects and dangers if consumed continuously, the flowers of the night had no choice because of course none of them wanted to get pregnant because it received customers.

Understanding well the social and economic background of such people, Odo again sighed lightly and momentarily stayed in place to be sure of something. He recalled one of the memories in his previous world life, he had also lived in such a rotten environment and seen the end of people falling into addicts.

Observing what Yor’an was doing, the woman was doing exactly what Odo had expected. The evening flower came to the Hulla Workshop and banged on its door in the middle of the night. He shouted so loudly that Luna the owner had to get up and come out to meet him.

Looking from a distance, Odo only narrowed his eyes and felt that such a thing was also unexpected for Luna when making her medicine. Despite not hearing what they said, Odo understood that Yor’an forced him to push Luna to the door. The evening flower picked up a small pouch of money and threw it at Luna, then went back to cursing. Even so, Luna still seemed not to want to give her medicine anymore.

But when her neighbor's lights start, Luna looks panicked and goes back inside to get the cure. He immediately handed over the small cloth containing the medicine that Yor’an requested, then immediately closed the door tightly without taking the scattered bronze and silver coins.

When he saw that Odo confirmed it, if indeed Luna did not expect that there would be an addict from the night flowers who took a pregnancy-preventing drug that he made.

The rate of a person can be addicted to pregnancy-preventing drugs is quite low, because most women who consume such things continuously and excessively will experience heavy bleeding. Then, at the end they will stop at a certain stage. Have to give up their womb or the worst possibility is death.

Seeing such an addiction case in front of his eyes, Odo only felt that drugs were not something that could be marketed carelessly. Although only contained in a pregnancy-preventing drug, still it must have strict laws and regulations to monitor its circulation.

“Padah in medicine it is very useful, but if like this it is even detrimental. Though it should be used only to relieve pain in the surgical process,” Odo murmured while turning around and starting to activate the Puddle.

Odo tried not to care about Yor’an, he understood even though asking him to talk now it would be useless. Keeping the matter in his head, he only let out a light sigh and immediately left the coastal city.
