Chapter 70: Regalia II (Part 04)

“Ta-Tadi it⸻?”

“What was water from Lake Millia?” ask Odo before the Pontiff finishes saying.

“Hmm, that's true …. Why could it be ... yourself ..”

“It will be long if I explain it. In short ..., this is my body condition.”

Odo woke up without uttering the second pledge he should have made to bind his soul with the Spirit Contract. As the young man had told Arteria before, he looked straight at the King and said, “I will not do the Pledge of the Spirit, Your Majesty. I can't do that kind of thing …. So, can we just skip?”

“A⸻?!” King Gaiel was surprised to hear this, immediately stepped closer and said, “Son of my Friend, you cannot pass through the Pledge as if it were unimportant. Procession should run according to tradition, The pledge should not be left like that⸻!”

“Yang Mulia ..” Pontiff confronted King Gaiel, then shook his head and delivered, “As he said, The Spirit Pledge cannot be done …. Oaths of obedience can only be made from Mortal to higher beings. But as you saw earlier, Mr. Odo earlier ..”

“Do you want to say that my Friend's Son has reached the same level as the Light Witch has reached?” ask the King anxiously.

“It's hard to believe .., but that's the truth. His Eminence Gaiel, the Spirit Pledge is a Magic Contract relating to the soul. But to bind a higher soul, I am impossible to do that.”

The king was stunned to hear that, stepped back and was so surprised he almost fell down. Putting his right palm on his forehead and looking so anxious, the King softly muttered, “How could this be, who would have thought that his descendants also could not be tied with the Spirit Pledge.”

When the King looked at Odo and saw the young man's faint smile, his eyes opened wide and his face paled slightly. The young man had realized everything, whether it was King Gaiel's plan or the Pledge.

The reason the King did not worry about the move that Odo would take after obtaining the title of Viscount was because of the Spirit Pledge. With such Conformity Contract Magic, Odo would not betray Arteria and the King could control it. But after the guarantee can not be used, Odo Luke really get what he wants without a single constraint.

“This child ..., has he planned it from the beginning? The blatant rejection of some nobles that was faster than I expected, then the Spirit Pledge could not be enforced …. I seem to have missed a step. If the absolute binder to control it cannot apply, then the only option is to rely on the Rein Family to keep an eye on this child.”

Reading what King Gaiel was thinking so clearly, Fiola was startled and immediately whispered something to Mavis. His master's mouth was momentarily opened thinly, wanting to say something to the King but was closed again after considering a few things. Mavis felt it was better to be quiet and not take rash steps.

Odo clearly understood the King's reaction. Turning his gaze toward Thomas Rein and his wife, he put on a faint smile and placed his index finger to his forehead.

Thomas and his wife did not understand this, because indeed the message Odo gave was addressed to their son, Arca Rein.

While lowering his index finger, Odo breathed a sigh of relief as his goal was achieved despite some unexpected things. “For now I think it's enough. I hope other problems don't arise again,” Odo's mind.

Fiola could only read Odo's thoughts that were on the surface. When the Huli Jing went deeper, the young man's head was very thick with information like a plain paper full of hundreds of formula strings. It was completely incomprehensible to him.

Odo faced the paled King, then while looking straight at his eyes said, “Your Majesty need not worry, you can hold my words. I have great respect for Princess Arteria and as much as I can protect her, I also love my family and do not want them to be in danger …. The kingdom of Felixia is the country I belong to, therefore I should do my best to take care of it …. You can hold my word and please don't worry like that.”

The young man in black hair smiled again, then like a winner he said, “What ... This is the first time you have been left one step behind in a fight like this?”

King Gaiel forced a smile on his face, his body instantly trembling at the sight of it. Not because of fear, but challenged and made him think back to when he was young and at odds with the Garados Family.

“Just one step you've got a big head in front of me, Odo Luke?”

“Of course. Even if you underestimate this, but still I am superior. My goal was achieved, there was no loss I suffered. It's no exaggeration to call this a perfect win.”

“Huh, just keep talking haughty like that. How can you still behave like that after plunging into the real world of aristocrats?”

Odo just smiled as if laughing. At that moment, he understood that the King's point of view about leading was very different from his. A Feudalism and Aristocrat, both of these things in Odo's eyes are just an outdated antique.

For those of you who have seen various forms of government to govern a country, a monarchy that uses bloodlines and dynasties is one of the fragile forms. It is easily eroded by the times, and also easily faltered because of the will of its own society that continues to grow.

The dark comes along with the cluster of stars, the breeze brings the scent of night flowers blooming in the planting. While the guests were still in the hall, Odo stepped out and headed for the front porch to breathe air freely.

Although the plan to gain the authority of the nobles and the title of Viscount was successful, his face did not exude any sense of pleasure at all. Murky, upset, and tired, that's what he shows when he looks at the flowers that bloom at night.

Leaning the body onto the marble pillar, he recalled what happened after the title grant and the engagement procession was completed. Guests who were pro-Odo approached him at once, asking for political matters and apparently demanding him to cooperate with the place they were leading.

Odo was expecting that. But seeing the nobles openly divided into two such camps, in his mind he felt anxious about the potential for civil war or cold conflict if he took the wrong step.

“Yeah, I think it's the right decision to make Arca my partner. If there is no him during the plan, it feels very tiring to take care of such a thing alone ..”.

“Hmm, I never thought you'd say that, Mr. Viscount.” The statue that came out of the hall approached the young man with black hair, looked in wonder at him and said again, “However, if you can not leave all those nobles to me.”

“Sorry, I just don't feel at home.” Odo turned his head lightly, slightly rolled his eye pattern to the side and complained, “Five hours more chatting with them indoors with such a scent …. Huh, it feels like my head hurts.”

“Aroma? What happened to that?”

“Originally you know, my smell is pretty sharp. Smell the smell of perfume that is very pungent continuously it feels …. Moreover, they were all too hasty to want to exploit or build a relationship with me. I hope those people hide their ambition and greed a little.”

“Ah, I understand ...”

While looking back at his interlocutor Arca said, “Such things should be done by parents only, we young people should not be burdened with troublesome and boring things. Really, I can't really like this kind of thing.”

Arca scrunched her face. The eldest son of the Rein Family slightly loosened the tie, then took off the black suit button he was wearing. Gazing towards the courtyard, for a moment he put on a thin smile and looked excited for some reason.

“Do you not need to go to Uncle Thomas and Aunt Calista? I hear you're rarely with them because you're always running around, ‘ right? At least take advantage of the moment there!” said Odo in a flat tone.

Hearing this, Arca immediately glanced sharply and replied, “You too, said Miss Julia you often run away and never even attended tea events, ‘kan? Not many people are surprised when they see you. I mean, a kid who's less than ten years old is as big as you.”

“How to drink tea?” Odo looked puzzled, staring curiously with a slight tilt of his head.

“Eh? Seriously? That's not even you know? I'm amazed you didn't make a mistake during the show, yes ...”

“Arteria taught me before the show started ..” Odo looked back at the page, narrowed his eyes slightly and muttered, “You know, the people around me are less likely to explain if not asked …. It feels annoying to be considered all-rounder and all-know.”

“I don't think so, Madame Mavis was very anxious. He even snapped at the King because he was not allowed to tell you about the awarding of titles and engagement procedures.”

“Hmm, only my mother treats me like that.” Odo put on a faint smile, looked relieved and took a deep breath before exhaling it loosely.

The statue that saw it slightly understood what Odo was feeling. As smart or as mature as a person, Mother has always been a figure who will see her flesh and blood as a child. I want to keep it and worry about it at any time.

“Talking about Princess Arteria, I heard something strange from the King. Odo, have you ever met him before? Didn't you still stay in Mylta yesterday?” arca asked as she put her hand to her chin and looked suspiciously.

“Ah, Raja also talked about it also turned out ...”

Odo stopped leaning. Facing towards Arca, the black-haired youth opened his left glove and started activating the Puddle. Luminous water started to come out from the palms, hatching onto the floor and making small puddles.

Seeing this, Arca clearly understood that it was the ability of one of the Native Overhouls working for the young man in black hair. In disbelief Arca slowly opened her mouth and wanted to ask. However ⸻

“This is how I can meet with Mr. Putri.”

Odo's voice echoed inside the head of the Sculpture, just like Elulu's Radd Sendangi ability. At that second also the Eldest Son of the Rein Family came to a conclusion, then a little palely asked, “Kamu ... can copy the ability of Native Overhoul?”

“More or less like that, for some reason I was able to copy their abilities. But that doesn't mean I'm free to do it. If there was a Native Overhoul that could change its body shape and its ability with regards to extra limbs like horns, tails, wings, or anything else, I guess I can't replicate it.

The answer made Arca swallow heavily, which explains why Odo was able to easily take over The Ritman Library from her. Understand the young man before him is not a Native, Arca again concluded the way he used is still classified as magic and indeed not special abilities.

“Odo, what do you want to do with that kind of power? Copying the abilities of the Natives, do you want to use them to pressure the nobles into submission to you?”

“Huh?” Odo put on a flat expression, then closed his palm and deactivated the Puddle. On returning wearing gloves, the young man in black hair replied, “Taking care of the nobles is your duty as a person from the Rein.” family

“Then, what is ... authority and power you have? You are not even bound to the Pledge, completely without restraints ...”

“It's still a secret. However, for now ...” Odo put his index finger in front of his mouth, then while grinning dark he said, “Let's hunt the Dragon, only then will we clean the useless branches of this Kingdom.”
