12. Uninvited guests

Leon held his father's hand with a face. His smile was wide and his eyes were sparkling cheerfully. He had gone to school with his father and when the time came home, he came out of class and saw his father was in front waiting to pick him up.

"Pamit first, Leon," Simon ordered

Leon nodded, looked at his teacher's mother and lowered his head very slowly and modestly.

"Mam Ann, Leon's coming home first. Thank you for today."

Anna responded with a smile and nodded her head.

Simon then crouched down, whispering something into Leonard's ear.

Leon turned his head, grinning happily towards his father after Simon finished whispering. The movements of the two made Anna squint suspiciously.

"Of course so, Dad!" leon half shouted.

Simon put his index finger in his mouth. "stttttt ...," whispered the man.

Leon parroted following, putting his index finger to his mouth. "Stttttt, okay Dad ...."

Anna frowned at the interaction of the father and son. Regardless of what Simon whispered to his son, the expressions of the two were very suspicious, ignorant and full of excitement. But Anna brushed off her feelings of curiosity.

Whatever their plan is, it has nothing to do with me. I can go home quickly today ....

Simon said goodbye to Anna who was replied with a polite smile and a nod of the head. Anna simply stared expressionlessly as Simon winked seductively at her.

"We're home, Anna."

After walking hand in hand a few steps, Leon stopped and looked back.

"When you meet again, Mom!" he shouted while waving.

Anna just smiled. Somewhat surprised by the boy's farewell, the two men then moved away, Leon's joy was very visible. The boy walked while jumping a little jump with his hands clasped in his father's hands.

"You see, Mr. Bernard ... simply by providing your time .. he is already so happy ...." Anna's frown had just stopped, when a voice called out to her.

"Ann ...," call Mrs. Sanders.

Anna turned her head, then immediately moved closer quickly.

"Yes. Mrs. Sanders ... What's wrong?" anna asked, then she was stunned to see the worried-looking expression of the headmaster.

"I'm looking for you right away ... Luna called."

Anna's eyes widened, her heart pounded.

"We'll talk at the office" Mrs asked. Sanders.

Anna nodded while gulping. Something that he feared finally came back ... has he been found out? Is his freedom over?

After entering the school principal's room. Mrs. Sanders invited Anna to sit on a long sofa where she used to receive guests.

Mrs. Sanders reached out, clasping Anna's cold-palpated right hand.

"Ann ... the man disappeared ...,"

Anna, who had been holding her breath, exhaled the air from her beak very quickly. His chest pounded and his hands began to sweat.

"He's looking for me?" ask Anna.

"We don't know, Ann. Luna said, your house looks empty these days. It didn't look like the man went to the office and went home as usual. So Luna was a little bit looking for information. Neighbors next door said the house had been empty for several days. He said it was likely that the man had finally decided to pick up his wife who had not been home for months."

Anna closed her eyes.

"Ann .. move from there. I beg. Your cottage is very remote. If anything happens, you'll have a hard time calling for help."

After a long silence, Anna finally took a deep breath.

"Mrs. Sanders ... thank you for your concern. I'll be fine ...," Anna said with a wry smile.

He squeezed the hand of the old headmaster who had helped a lot during his escape.

Martin ... Have you found me? Come to me if you are already .. I am ready. I would die .. but don't expect me to come back .. won't! This time there is no more Nuella that you can use to force me!

Anna had just stuck an apron strap to her neck and tied her belt back when the sound of knocking on the door made her body freeze.

With a gulp, he walked silently on the shiny wood floor of his cottage.

The knocking is heard. This time it was accompanied by a voice.

"Mam Ann! It's Leon. Leon's coming Mam!"

Anna was stunned, glancing at the wall clock with a frown.

That kid .. why come here these nights. Who was he with ....

"Anna .. You're home, aren't you?"

Anna's question was answered. He closed his eyes after hearing Simon Bernard's voice outside.

"Ann, open the door" said Simon. "Leon's been holding back from going to the bathroom ever since he got out of the car. I couldn't have told him to pee in your yard, right," Simon added.

Moments later, Anna opened the lock and the door. His head appeared in the doorway. Looking directly at the father and son who were dressed casually and upright in front of the door of his cottage.

"Why are you here?" ask Anna.

"Mom! Daddy didn't lie! Leon's going to the bathroom!" exclaimed the little boy while jumping up and down and holding his collar.

"Oh, a-ap, all right. Come on in then, come on ...." Anna opened the door wide, then immediately led Leon into the toilet behind.

Simon came in, put the two bags of food he had brought to the living room table, then stepped back to close the door of the cottage, locking it back. A big smile decorated his face.

We're coming, Ann ... tonight you're not going to have dinner alone ....
