56. Keepsake boxes

Anna sat in the living room of the Andreas family Mansion in agitation. For almost a week he decided to meet his mother-in-law.

"I see you're fine, Emilia." Madam Andreas looked at her daughter-in-law from top to bottom, then glanced at Simon who was sitting on another sofa in neat clothes. Madam Andreas still recognized the man despite it having been months. Claude Bernard's brother, whose son was kidnapped by Martin.

"Yes ... Mommy ...." Anna felt her tongue was a bit off when she mentioned her mother-in-law's nickname.

"Again .. for the last time, can't you give Martin one last greeting. If you come, at least you can tell where he's buried."

Anna did not reply, only looking down with her hands clasped together.

Anna was silent. He thought he would be judged like this.

Simon's ears were pinched when the Lady mentioned his brother's name. "If Anna isn't ready to come, can't you change to meet her, Madam?"

Of course I don't want to bother going there! Emilia was the one who was supposed to meet me, not the other way around!"

Simon looked pityfully at Anna who looked to close her lips. As if to refrain from commenting.

"Anna's not your son's replacement."

Anna nodded her head. "Thank you for giving it to me. I ... pamit, Mom ...."

"You really don't want to come back here?"

Anna shakes. "No ...."

"Martin left behind many things that could be yours ...."

Anna nodded back. "No ...."

"Again ... Do you not want to see the tomb? She must want to see you .. she adores you .. You're the center of her life, Em ...." Madam Andreas' voice suddenly sounded defeated.

"You're wrong, Mom .. You're the center of her life ... Martin loves you so much. For him .. Your opinion is what matters. She's trying to do anything, get compliments from you, Mom. Anything ....."

He then got up, "I'm saying goodbye, Mom."

"He rested in the Crystal Land" said Mrs Andreas.

With a lethargic bow, Lady Andreas let go of Anna. He did not take Anna and Simon to the exit.

After they get into the car that Simon had rented when he arrived, Anna picks up a letter that was inside the box. He opened it slowly, taking out a paper written by Nuella.

Anna folded back the letter, not reading until it ran out. I decided to read it when I was alone. Not with Simon, who will watch his every facial expression. From the contents of the letter, he found out at least, during a visit to Nuella's treatment, Martin was still kind to his sister.

A sheet of tissue was stretched out in front of Ann's face. "This is" said Simon.

"Thank you ...." Anna realized she was crying in silence.

"Where are we? Our flight here was exhausting. You want to go straight home or something? If you are tired, you can find a hotel. Rest first, tomorrow will be back. If you're strong, we can arrange a flight home immediately."

Anna wiped her cheek with a tissue while answering Simon's question. "I haven't decided yet, but can you take me somewhere first?"

"certain. Just show me the direction."
