Simon's Bride

Simon's Bride
71. Leon's request

Mary and her husband Alric arrive at the Bernard family's Mansion. Catalina welcomed the two, looking relieved and hastily welcomed.

"Thankfully you came. I've been confused. I don't know why, he keeps looking sad." Catalina hugged and kissed Mary on the cheek.

"Is it because of Uncle Hamilton? Alric has heard from Claude that Uncle is awake" said Mary.

"I told him the news, he looked relieved, but then came back sad. But he won't tell me what's causing it."

Alric touched his wife's waist. "Let's go see him" Alric asked.

Catalina and Mary nodded. They stepped towards the side of the Mansion. After arriving at the veranda, Leon looks pensive in a chair on the edge of the pool, under a wide umbrella that protects him from the afternoon sun.

"You take care of him, then leave us, let me talk to him. Who knows this is a problem of men who cannot be told to mothers," Alric said in a serious tone, but the amused light in his eyes could not be hidden.

"Oh yeah? What kind of trouble is that? Give me an example." Mary looked at her husband curious.

"For example, it's about a summer vacation that makes him unable to meet the cute girl of a classmate he likes."

Catty smiled amusedly, while Mary clucked while looking at her husband.

"Ck! He's only been six years, Alric!"

"Not wrong, my dear. Six-year-olds know which ones are sweet which are not."

Mary squinted her eyes, looking suspiciously at Alric. " Is that your personal experience?"

Alric pretended not to hear and passed to greet Leon.

"Hi, Leon."

"Dad .. ah, Mom's coming too." Leon looked towards Mary and Catty.

"Leon looks sad, is there a problem?" Mary asked as she took a seat to Leon's right.

"Nothing, Mom."

Alric pulled the chair on the left. "But Leon's face looked lethargic. The usual Leonard was very excited and cheerful. Mom Catty said Leon was always sad. What's up?" ask Alric.

Leon took a deep breath, he turned to look at Mary, then Catty who was standing in front of his desk, then Alric.

"Is Grandpa really up, Dad?" ask Leon to Alric.

"That's right. Daddy Claude has notified me. We pray together, Grandpa Hamilton can go home and rejoin us."

Leon nodded his head. "Is Daddy Simon coming home?"

"certain. Daddy Claude said that Daddy Simon would have dinner tonight and sleep at home" Catty said.

Catty's speech published a small smile that disappeared quickly on Leon's lips. "Good ... Leon miss Daddy."

Catty, Mary and Alric exchanged glances, but made no comment.

"You two, would you like to have dinner here? Please ... the kids will be happy," Catty pleaded.

Mary looked at her husband, handing over the decision to Alric.

"Sure, I'll call Mom first, she's with the kids. Telling him we'll have dinner here, also asking him to accompany the kids to bed if we get home a little late."

Mary nodded. Leon finally smiled happily. Her days were lonely just being in the Mansion with her two little cousins sleeping more. His father never came home, continued to be in the hospital, as did Uncle Vincent and Daddy Claude, Leon tried to understand that Hamilton's grandfather's situation was more important, so he did not want to complain. He wanted to meet his father, wanted to ask if Mam Ann had at least called, didn't they leave without saying goodbye? Didn't they cancel the holiday without notice. He wanted to know how Mam Ann was doing right now.

After dinner, Catty took her daughters and Mary to sit in the living room. Leon is coming too. The boy glanced at Simon several times, but Simon was already in conversation with Alric.

While playing with Alexa, Leon keeps an eye on his father. Like waiting for a crack and hoping to talk.

Ringing the phone then heard, Mary turned her head and saw Simon was looking at his phone. The man then told Alric to go for a while to get a call.

"Stttt! Leon!" call Mary.

Leon.

"That's it, your Daddy's going over there, you want to talk to him right? Go after it there. Wait until he finished receiving the phone, then Leon can talk alone," said Mary while winking one eye.

Leon's smile grew. He nodded, then got up after his father who went to the side porch.

Leon stopped behind the door frame, he waited there. Stare at Simon, who stands on the porch, turning his back to Leon. His phone still rings. Simon then put the phone to his ear.

"Yes? Mam Ann? What's up?"

Suddenly Leon's smile was perfect. She was so happy to know that Mam Ann called her father.

"I? I'm in the hospital."

Leon's forehead wrinkled. I don't understand why his father lied.

"Speaking with Leon? No. gabe. Can't do. He's at home."

Leon's mouth was pursed, his eyes immediately blurry, teary-eyed hearing his father lie.

"Later when I get home, Mom. Now we're kind of si-s"

Leon turned around quickly. He no longer wanted to hear what his father had said. Since leaving suddenly from the beach house, Leon had thought that something bad had happened between his father and Mam Ann. Indeed they had to go home soon because Hamilton's grandfather was sick, but not at least can still call each other, say goodbye to Mam Ann.

While wiping away the rough tears on his cheeks, Leon took a deep breath. She did not want to be asked by Mom Mary and Mom Catty why she was crying. After gently patting his eyes, Leon returned to the living room. He's approaching Daddy Alric.

"Dad ...."

"Yes?"

"Emm .. can Leon spend the summer vacation with Val and Aislin?"

"You mean, staying with your sisters like you've been?"

Leon nodded.

"Of course I can! Val and Aislin will be delighted. Annete's grandmother was there too. Let's make it a fun and exciting vacation." Alric combed Leonard's hair with his fingers.

"Thank you, Dad ...."

In her seat, Mary and Catty looked at each other.

"Did she want to talk to her dad earlier because she wanted to spend the holidays at your place, Mary?" ask Catty.

Mary shook her head. "I'm not sure. There must be something else. I'll scrape it later when I'm home."

Catty nodded her head. "I think so too. There must be another problem."

"That's Simon back. His face looks happy. I think the conversation with Leon was good. But why is the boy still ....."

Catty patted her brother's knee. "Send you. Talk to him until he's honest about the real problem."
